You're Not Alone
Takes place after Moria and Gandalf's death.
For Frodo Baggins of Bag End, the emotions flooding through him right now made him feel like he was twelve years old again, when his parents died.
He knew the quest to destroy the ring wouldn't be easy, but he never thought it would turn out like this. Not only did he drag his best friend and his cousins into this, but he lost Gandalf, his closest friend and like a father to him.
"Frodo!" Aragorn was calling to him. "We have to get moving! The orcs will hunt us down!" Doesn't he realize what had just happened? Frodo thought as he walked by Sam and Merry and Pippin. Gandalf died. I've known him for so long and I love him. Now, like my parents, he's gone, just like that.
"That's right, little one," a voice whispered inside Frodo's mind, "Your parents are gone, Bilbo left you, and now even Gandalf is gone. Pretty soon, you'll be all alone."
"You're wrong," I told the voice, "Sam, Merry, and Pippin will always be by my side."
"No. They'll eventually disappear on this quest. Either by death, or they abandon you because they are too scared. And who'd you be left with? The dwarf, the elf, and the two men. Do you think any of them even care about you? They may have agreed to go on this quest, but they are only doing it for recognition, Boromir just to get the ring that's hanging right around your neck."
Frodo looked down at the small golden ring that hung on the chain. "Strider said he would protect me. He said so."
The voice chuckled. "Aragorn is heir to the throne of Gondor, and you're just a mere hobbit. Eventually, he will take his rightful place and he'll leave you behind. And when this quest ends, your allies will leave you and never come back. And sooner or later, you will be alone."
"Mr. Frodo! Frodo! Master Hobbit! Are you alright?" Everyone was calling to him.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." And Frodo raced to catch up with everyone.
End. It was pretty short, I know, but please review and help me continue on. By the way, the voice idea came from a Chronicles of Vladimir Tod fanfic, A Friendship, Broken by Seirra Ivana, which also uses an evil voice in the main character's mind.
