The Wayfaring Stranger
by Sauron Gorthaur

The wind wails my pain and sorrow.
The ocean weeps my tears.
The endless guilt of words and blood –
My hands and heart, it sears.

Oh, Manwë, Varda, take it back;
I curse the words that have cursed me.
No longer witness this my doom.
I've hurled my oath into the sea.

The seabirds cry, ai, they cry forevermore
Above a lone wayfarer on this forsaken shore.

The waves, they shine as diamonds,
Nay, as something brighter still;
I search in vain this swelling grave,
Driven by another's will.

Oh, Father, do you see me now?
Do you hate me now that I have failed?
Feel you yet my dark regret
With every new lament that's wailed?

The seabirds cry, ai, they cry forevermore
Above a lone wayfarer on this forsaken shore.

As darkness dyes another day,
I see the waves drip red,
And as the darkness covers all,
I weep and bow my head.

Oh, Brother, I feared the choice you made:
You met the Dark – I chose to wait.
But the Void consumes me day by day;
I did not choose the better fate.

The seabirds cry, ai, they cry forevermore
Above a lone wayfarer on this forsaken shore.

A/N: Happy birthday to my friends, RandomCelt and DarthMihi, The Wayfaring Strangers! I know there's already a lot of angsty Maglor fics out there, and maybe an angsty Maglor isn't the best person to spend your birthday with, but I hope you enjoyed it. And how can you go wrong with some angsty Maglor poetry anyway :) Happy birthday! - SG
