OH GOD. I JUST WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU LOVELY PEOPLE FOR MAKING IT THIS FAR. WOW. YOU GUYS ARE SO AMAZING, THE LEGITIMATE BEST. I'M GLAD TO SAY YOU HAVE MADE IT TO THE END OF THIS FABULOUS TALE. THIS IS HOW THE STORY ENDS AND I'M SAD IT'S OVER BUT I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT!

I OWN NOTHING! :D

Clove's parents annual New Year's Eve party is bigger and better than last year's. More food. More people. Did I mention more food? Everyone is waiting for the clock to strike twelve and Mom's sitting on the couch with a bunch of other people watching the ball-drop in New York.

Christmas came and went quickly, as usual. Lindley went home with her dad and new mom who got hitched in Las Vegas while she stayed with us.

It turned out Mere's after her testing she was fine. False alarm. She's still in remission and her hair is growing out.

Johanna pushes me from behind. "Hey, what's up?" She says.

I shrug. "It's taking forever. What time is it?"

She checks her phone. "11:37."

I groan. "Want to go out on the balcony?" I ask.

"Sure." We head out onto the second story balcony. A few people are up here as well. We lean over the railing.

I look out over the backyard, over the cypress trees and see the tan sand and sparkling ocean. The balcony has a perfect view of the fireworks they set off at the coast when it turns midnight.

I look over at Johanna. It's a formal party so she's wearing a dress. I'm not kidding. An actual dress. It's to her knees like mine is but mine has long sleeves and made of blue velvet while hers has spaghetti straps and is light purple.

"Aren't you cold?" It's only sixty-five degrees but the wind is blowing.

"No. Good thing my burning hate for humanity keeps me warm during these cold months." Johanna says and we crack up. "I'm going to get some cake. See ya around."

Slowly the balcony empties as people leave to see the count down. I hear footsteps behind me and I know exactly who it is. He comes over next to me and leans against the railing. Things have been awkward between Peeta and I since I came back.

"Do you have a New Year's Resolution?" He asks.

I shrug. "Nope."

"Oh. Do you want to hear mine?"

"Sure, what is it?" I ask.

Peeta smiles. "Well... it's not good."

"Better than not having one."

"Right. I was supposed to tell you why I kissed you that one time, but I never did."

I look over at him. "Yes,"

"So... Well, I think I like you." Peeta says.

"No duh." I roll my eyes.

"It was that obvious?" He asks.

I laugh. "I could've been blind and still noticed." I tell him.

We're quiet for awhile. I look out at the ocean. I really hate silences but I don't know how to fill them anyway so I let it go on. Actually I let it go one because I'm thinking. It was pretty obvious that he likes me and I'm not really sure how I feel about him quite yet. I feel like it's really stupid to be dating someone when your not even in high school yet. My life is way weird.

All of the sudden Peeta reaches out and takes my hand off the railing and holds it. I want to pull my hand away but in reality it's not that bad. I mean we're holding hands and that's not that big of a deal.

"10...9..." Voices shout.

"They're starting the count-down," I say.

"8...7...6..."

"Katniss, do you want to be my New Year's kiss?"

"5...4...3..."

"Yes."

"2...1... Happy New Year!"

And then we kiss.

With the fireworks sparkling through the air and reflecting off the water. 2013 is over and 2014 has come. Only a few seconds into the New Year and I think this is probably going to be a good year. Probably.

~~THE END~~
