War for Mobius

Chapter One: Hard Contact

No plan survives first contact with the enemy.

A lesson, the Mobian Princess Sally Acorn has faced many times before. One she is facing yet again.

The plan was a relatively simple one: sneak into Doctor Robotnik's "Crabmeat" factory, and destroy it with some well-placed and hopefully well-timed explosives. The explosives had been designed by the Freedom Fighters' resident genius Rotor, however even so they were very costly to make. This caused a secondary objective of stealing supplies to become impossible to overlook.

That had been the plan anyways, now the bombs sat unused at the feet of the SWATbot security team who had happened upon the Freedom Fighters.

Sally wishes that one of the robots would detonate one of the explosives by mistake, allowing them for a chance to escape. Deep down however, she knew that wouldn't happen.

The storehouse the Freedom Fighters had planned to raid had triple the security the chipmunk had planned for. Worse still, they had been on high alert at the time her team had arrived. It took the SWATbots no time at all to round up the Knothole Freedom Fighters. Now they stood, or kneeled, before their captors.

"Do not resist or you will be exterminated," barks the SWATbot that Sally assumed was the leader. From all outward appearances, the machine looked like the others. However, since the other 'bots followed its commands, it was a safe bet it was the commander. The mechanical man picked up one of the homemade bombs and scanned it. The Princess hopes the explosive would short and blow up in the thing's contestable face. Of course it doesn't happen.

She looks to fellow Freedom Fighters, searching for any sign of an escape plan and making sure no one suffered any permanent or dangerous injuries.

Rotor had been lucky; seeming more roughed up rather than hurt. Antoine also seemed to be okay. The coyote had ducked behind the medical kit, the small handheld one, when the SWATbots first started firing upon the KFF. He had bravely volunteered to "Protect his Princess" when "his Princess" explained the plan to the team early today. Fat lot of good Antoine actually did to protect her. Sometimes the leader of the Knothole Freedom Fighters was Proud to serve with the Acting Captain of the Guard, other times however like today, she wondered if he was worth having on the team.

The other two members of the group hadn't faired nearly as well. Johnny Lightfoot, the tall Mobian Rabbit had been sent out ahead of the rest to act as a scout. Sally had figured that with his speed, being the fastest runner on the team and of all of Knothole, he's be able to get in quick and get out before the SWATs knew what happened. She had been wrong of course, as the robots had apparently set a trap for him, almost as if they knew he was coming. Now he sat there with a blacked-eye and a bruised spirit. Dry blood still caked the sides of his jaw.

The tall mobian held Bunnie Rabbot up. They cyborgnetic mobian had been blasted in the leg by one of the SWATbots' wrist mounted lasers. The damage looked severe, and Sally couldn't tell if it was repairable from a glance. NICOLE or Rotor would have to analyze it later, if there was a later. The Princess could only hope Bunnie, as well as the rest of the KFF team, didn't have to suffer for her bad planning again.

During a mission a bit back, the Second Child of the Royal Acorn Family had "goofed" up the job pretty bad, and Bunnie paid for it for it dearly. Her robotic limbs were a constant reminder to Sally of that day, and though the rabbit had forgiven her for it, Sally Acorn had never quite forgiven herself.

Though they could be in worse shape, the team isn't in good enough shape to escape from the fully equipped SWATbot Security Team that took them down. Surrender wasn't an option however; Sally knew the team faced Robotization if they didn't slip away, and SWATbots didn't make deals.

"Apprehended Suspects have been Identified," one of the SWATbots monotonously calls out to the one Sally has decided to call the Commander, "Rotor Walrus, Military Cadet Antoine Depardieu D'Coolette, Bunnie Rabbot, Jonathan Lightfoot…."

"And Princess Salina Acorn."

The Commander stomps over to the Princess and stares down at her. She spits in its visor, but the mechanical menace doesn't react. "Contact Doctor Robotnik Immediately," the machine barks to the other robots, "All Prisoners will stand up and board the hover pod." The Robot gestures his arm towards the vehicle as if it could possibly be missed.

Bunnie responds back by giving the 'bots a very un-lady like gesture in return.

The Princess, gets up to her feet to follow, but is stopped by The Commander, "Prisoner Sally Acorn will wait here."

The others look to her for guidance as they are herded aboard the hovercraft, but nothing comes to her mind. She can only watch and try to shield herself from that spontaneous gust of wind.

Wait a second, wind? The Princess looks around. She had noticed the strange bursts of wind than had been steadily increasing, but she had not acknowledged them till this moment. The bizarre patterns were too mixed-up to be natural.

Something blue catches her eye. Something in the wind, negate that, it is the wind!

The SWAT closest to the transport is sent flying away when the "wind" smashes into it. It follows up by crashing into the one nearest to Bunnie and the others.

The "wind" finally stops in the middle of robots and mobians alike.

Not Wind, a Mobian, a Blue Hedgehog.

"Hey there," he shouts out the SWATbots, "Anyone ever told you that you're ugly and you dress funny?"
