Note: I do not own any of the characters.
The first thing Jenny saw when she opened her door the next morning was me. I was in the hallway, as usual, waiting for her to get out of bed so I could explain to her how we were going to confront the Shadow Men.
I'm sorry to say that as soon as I saw her wearing short shorts and one of my black T-shirts, all I could think about was taking her back into bed with me.
I actually blushed and she raised her eyebrows. I cleared my throat awkwardly. "Um."
"Um?" Since when do I say "um?"
"I was waiting for you."
Oh you are such an idiot.
She smiled pleasantly. "And I was waiting for you," she said simply.
Then she grabbed me by the front of my shirt and dragged me into her room. She had the guts to push me up against a wall and started to kiss along my jaw, this time with no softness. Her lips against my skin ate at me like fire. I fought down a groan of pleasure as she kissed a burning trail up and down my neck. I realized my hands were at the small of her back, pressing her to me. I had no idea how they got there in the first place. All I was aware of were her hands; she slipped them up under my shirt, running them over my stomach and chest, then back down again. My body took on a mind of its own and my spine arched, begging her to touch me.
She finally kissed my mouth, but it was so brief that it could hardly be called a kiss. Then she drew back, her face flushed. "Good morning," she said brightly.
"Yeah," I said stupidly, staring at in her in awe.
She pulled her hands out from under my shirt and stepped back, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "I'm gonna get changed and then we can talk about how we're gonna turn you into a human," she continued casually. She sat down on her bed and glanced at me. "That's what you wanted to do, right?"
My brain was so groggy that I couldn't remember my own name right then. My gaze flicked from her to her bed and back again. "You have no idea what I want to do to you," I answered dazedly. I was pretty sure that wasn't what she meant.
Jenny turned red and an embarrassed grin spread over her face. She could only look at the floor. "I think you need to take a moment to, uh...cool off," she said, laughter rolling underneath her words.
Cool off? What the...?
I finally realized what I was saying and blushed all over again. "I, um, uh, what I meant was—"
"I know what you meant," she interrupted, smiling. She stood up and guided me out the door. "I'll just get dressed and then we can talk about the Shadow Men. Okay?" Just before she closed the door, she hooked two fingers into my belt loops and pulled me closer. My pulse raced and I grinned crookedly down at her. "Maybe later," she teased. And she was gone.
I stared at the closed door for the longest time, letting her words sink in. My face burned and I raked a hand through my hair. I am in for such a long day.
"You ready to talk about the Shadow Men now?" Jenny asked. She had changed into jeans and brushed her hair, but I was delighted to see that she was still wearing my shirt.
I was perched on top of her kitchen counter, my elbows resting on my knees, trying to think about the plan. Not the fact that I was silently hoping she would force me up against another wall. "Yeah," I replied, trying to be casual. "It is important, so we should definitely plan this out."
She sighed, like she'd been thinking about something else. "All right."
I watched her. "Unless you want to do something else..." I suggested, recovering some of my old confidence.
She arched an eyebrow at me. Where had this new Jenny come from? "What, were you hoping I'd take you back to my bedroom again?" she asked playfully.
Oh my God, you have no freaking idea. Instead of admitting that out loud, I flashed her my most devilish smirk. "You sound a little too excited to be joking, Jenny," I warned her. I slid off the counter and faced her, thumbs slung in my pockets.
Jenny's face lost all playfulness then. I secretly loved the way those deep green eyes moved over me, full of wanting. I took one small step toward her and her breathing grew shakier. "Julian..."
I shrugged. "But of course, we have important things to discuss." I glanced sideways at her, and thoroughly enjoyed the tiny flicker of disappointment in her expression. I was immensely glad she couldn't read my mind, because my imagination was running wild at the moment. I could just see myself scooping her up in my arms and carrying her back to her room, and then...well I stopped myself after that.
"Yeah," she said, almost breathless just from being close to me. I couldn't resist probing into her thoughts just once. Her voice echoed in my mind, ringing with desire: Oh, how am I going to do this? I can't lose him now, not to them. I can't even control myself around him anymore. And if I let him... I felt a little embarrassed at that part and subconsciously pushed my bangs out of my face, eyes half-closed. I was surprised when her thoughts immediately changed to, It's so sexy when he does that.
Of course, being the moron that I apparently was now, I blinked at her and asked, "You think I'm sexy?"
