Anon Prompt: Wolfstar at Harry's birth.
The hospital hallway was quiet but for the sound of Sirius' footsteps as he paced short lines in front of where Remus was sitting.
"We've been waiting forever," Sirius growled, throwing himself into one of the plastic chairs and fidgeting with his hands.
"We've been waiting for an hour," Remus corrected quietly, reaching across for one of Sirius' hands. "Lily and James have been dealing with this since last night, you can cope. At least we get to be here, Peter has to work."
"What if something's wrong? What if something's happened? What if-" The door opened, cutting Sirius off before Remus had the chance to tell him to stop worrying.
"Lily says you can come in now," James told them. Their friend looked tired, but his face was split with a dopey grin. "I wanted to let you in half an hour ago, but…" James shrugged, holding the door open to let them both in to the room.
"You behave, Black, or I'll have you thrown out." Lily's words were belied by the smile on her face and her soft tone. James may have looked tired, but the young woman was clearly exhausted, propped up in the hospital bed by her pillows. "You need to start setting a good example if you're going to be a Godfather."
It was obvious to them all that Sirius had barely heard her words, his focus entirely on the small bundle settled in her arms. Remus found himself torn between looking at the child himself, and watching Sirius' reaction. James took the bundle of blankets from his wife's arms, pressing a brief kiss to her forehead as he bent over her.
"If you sit down, you can hold him," James told Sirius, waiting for him to settle in a chair before passing over the baby.
"Have you decided on a name yet?" Remus kept his voice quiet, crossing the room to sit beside Sirius. The baby was awake, looking up at Sirius with wide eyes and scrunching up his tiny nose.
"Harry James," Lily replied. "Managed to convince this one out of calling him James Junior." She nodded towards James.
"He's amazing." Remus smiled at the new parents before turning his attention back to the look on Sirius' face. He had rarely seen the other man look quite so enchanted.
They were allowed to stay for nearly half an hour before James gently ushered them out, promising that he would let them know when they could visit again. Sirius relinquished his hold on Harry reluctantly, glancing back as they left for a final look at the small family. Remus slipped his hand into Sirius' as they left the hospital, squeezing gently.
"You're going to offer to babysit when they need time to themselves, aren't you?" Remus asked as they headed towards somewhere that they could apparate home. Sirius nodded enthusiastically, letting go of Remus' hand and wrapping an arm around his waist instead.
"He's perfect, isn't he?" Remus laughed, pushing Sirius into an alley that would hide them as they apparated.
"Yes, he is. And you're going to be an amazing Godfather." He pressed a brief kiss to Sirius' lips, stepping back as soon as Sirius moved to deepen it. "Oh no, not here. I'll see you at home."
Two loud pops echoed through the alley and the along the quiet street which it branched off of, intermingled with the laughter of the two men.
