Not the owner of the Buffyverse.

He'd sensed her the other night when he was with Drusilla. He knew that had to be the reason she was acting the way she was toward him.

It probably didn't help matters that he'd lied right to her face when she asked him around it. He just didn't know what to say, where to start.

Drusilla was one of his deepest regrets, and she always would be. She cut him so deep that he couldn't touch her now, couldn't bear to. He knew what it must have looked like to Buffy though.

Angel knew it would only be so long before it would come out, so he tried to find the words, praticing them in his head for days.

It was not in his plans to discuss it when he came over, bringing the not-so-good news about her friend, Billy Fordham. She wasn't going to let it go, though.

He sighed an unneeded breath, then let his mind accept he was going to have to tell her.

"Do you love me?" he asked.

He wanted, needed, to know before he told her some of the horrors of the vampire god he used to be. He was sure she might not after she knew him better, but he knew he couldn't live without knowing.

He felt his heart both soar and break when she told him she did.

Angel couldn't believe it. Now more than ever. How could this sweet, innocent girl ever...

He knew now his curse went so much deeper than he'd spent years thinking in that moment.

"Maybe you shouldn't do either," he told her, running from his plan to explain. Why couldn't they just leave well enough alone?

He wasn't surprised she wasn't having it.

Angel took a moment to himself, then warned her. He turned around. "Drusilla was the worst." And with that, he began to tell of his demon ways with sweet little Dru. Of course, he skipped over gory details, out loud anyway, but in his memories they lived. Everything played out in his mind as he spoke.

Angel looked down at the blonde. She wouldn't look at him. His senses tingled from her, and it made him weak in the knees to imagine what she must think of him now.

Deciding he should leave, very soon, leave her to figure out things... he told her what he'd made the trip for, telling her about Ford and his vampire obsession.

Buffy didn't say another word to him, and he finally left.

Outside of the door, Angel whispered, "I love you, too."
