Skye and Ratchet watched as the Autobots came back into the base. Everything rattled every few seconds, and the expressions on the 'Bots' faces showed they knew why.
One shake forced Skye to grab the seat so she wouldn't fall over. "What's going on up there?"
Darkstorm approached her charge. "Megatron is here."
Skye's eyes widened. She'd hoped it was just an earthquake or someth-that feeling. Was this it? At first she didn't say anything, but after a few seconds she had to ask. "What can we do?"
Optimus went to the senior medic. "Ratchet, prepare the ground bridge. We must evacuate the base."
"Evacuate? But . . . how would we . . .?" She examined the faces of the team, mostly coming back to Smokescreen and Darkstorm. They told her all she needed to know. "No . . . we're not . . . we can't split up. We-" The lump in her throat choked off her words.
"I am not fond of this either but we must if we are to survive. . . and fight another day," Darkstorm replied tearfully. She turned around as Bumblebee approached and embraced him, clutching him as if he were a life line.
"How can I bear leaving you?" she whispered.
"We'll meet again, 'Storm. I promise," Bumblebee said softly.
"So. . . I guess this is goodbye?" Smokescreen asked Skye.
"You're not getting off that easily." She extended her hand and he activated his holoform before grabbing her hand and pulling her to her foot. She stood as best she could, but despite her efforts most of her weight leaned against him, only making her grip around him stronger. "I just got you back. I . . ." She couldn't maintain the low volume anymore and had to speak up. "If you let anything happen to yourself I will never forgive you."
"Hey, you know me, Skye," she could hear the smile in his voice. "I survived the Nemesis, didn't I?"
"I know you got shot in the back and almost killed by Megatron and taken aboard the Nemesis and questioned. I'm not ready to let go of you again. Not like this."
"But if it means you'll be safer. . . then I have to go. It'll be harder for the 'Cons to track you and 'Storm. It's. . . It's better this way."
"That doesn't make me feel any better. Ho-how do I know you'll be safe?"
"You'll be in capable servos. I've seen how much 'Storm cares about you," Smokescreen whispered before he heard Optimus call him. He pulled away from Skye slightly. "We'll see each other again, I promise."
She stared into his eyes, not knowing what to say. She'd thought she lost him twice already, how could she say goodbye? Telling him to keep that promise didn't have much weight . . . well, whatever she did had to be fast.
She grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled, quickly bringing his face into range. She planted a kiss on his cheek. She wanted to do more, but knew it wouldn't be fair to leave that as their last memory of each other if something happened to one of them.
He pulled back with a surprised expression. His face . . . it was like a kicked puppy dog. It took all she had to resist.
"You get the rest when you fulfill that promise."
His cheeks slowly became red. "W-Will do," he smiled.
Skye looked on sadly as he went through the ground bridge, grabbing a small monitor next to her to keep from falling over.
Darkstorm and Skye each said their goodbyes as Drift, Shiv, Jolt, Bulkhead, and Arcee entered the ground bridge, the latter taking their charges with them.
Darkstorm swiftly kissed her scout when it was his turn to leave with Raf. "You had better return to me," she whispered.
"It's a promise," Bumblebee half smiled. The scout kissed her buccal plating before also moving to enter the ground bridge.
"Goodbye, 'Storm," Raf sadly waved. "Goodbye, Skye."
"I would hug you but," she motioned to her unstable state. "I don't want to fall on you. Stay safe, Raf."
Raf's lip trembled, tears threatening to fall, but he managed to control himself enough to smile. Bumblebee transformed and the child slowly got into the vehicle before they disappeared out of sight.
Darkstorm turned to her brother and Dreadwing and vented. "I just regained you both in my life and now. . . I am forced away from you," Darkstorm bit her bottom lip component as tears streamed down her facial plating. "I wish we had more time. . . I wish we weren't caught up in this. . . pit-spawned war."
"Don't worry about us, 'Storm," Skybreak smiled encouragingly. "I'll keep Dreads out of trouble."
His smile fell however as Darkstorm buried her helm in her servos. Dreadwing frowned and placed a servo on her shoulder plating. "I have left you permanently once before, my little storm. . . I shall not repeat the same course of action. I swear to you, upon the honor of all Seekers, that Skri'brak and I shall return. This is not the end," his voice lowered to a whisper. "Keep the hope I know so well in your spark. . . and we shall meet again."
Darkstorm shakily nodded and embraced both of them.
"You must hurry," Optimus urged. "Wheeljack and Agent Fowler can only hold the Decepticons back for so long."
Darkstorm vented and released both of them as they made their way towards the ground bridge. "See you later, kid," Skybreak grinned and saluted to Skye, as if nothing was happening at all. She nodded, unable to bring herself to smile as he did. Dreadwing simply bowed his helm, placing a servo on his chassis, before following Skybreak through the ground bridge.
Darkstorm watched them go with sadness in her optics but she knew she could not stay to grieve. . . At least, not there. She gently picked up her charge and transformed, speeding through the ground bridge, not daring to think about what fate the others. . .
No, no. She mustn't think about that now.
She would be reunited with the others. Surely, this must not be the end. God would not give her Dreadwing just to take him away. . . He must have some sort of plan. Surely.
She would take care of her charge and lie low until it was safe.
And then. . . Things would return as they were.
Yes. Everything would return to normal. Everything, she reassured herself as she continued to fly across the endless sky.
She would fight. She would fight until her last breath. Until the chasm was fixed.
D/N: My, my, my. *a sign appears above me saying 'applause'* Now isn't this a legit end to a legit story or what? xD But, in all seriousness, we do hope that you enjoyed this chapter and all the drama and feels that went with it.
But don't worry! This is not the end! I am going to post the first chapter of our third installment Sunday first thing, so be sure to tune in for that. :D
"Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed" Psalm 107: 28-29
(from Call God! by Thelma Wells)
"Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God!" Psalm 42:5
Some days this world seems to be just a big fat mess. One the news, we see footage of war and destruction. People all over the country are being abused and misused, many right in their own homes. Children are acting crazy. Husbands and wives are abandoning each other and their kids. Churches are in upheaval, just going through the motions of worshiping God. Merciless killings and rampant crime plague our communities. People are losing their jobs and the economy looks like it's going rapidly down the tubes. It seems like more people are physically sick today than ever before. In America, the richest country in the world, there are folks going to bed hungry and homeless. Schoolchildren have to pass through metal detectors to go to their classroom, lunchroom, or library. Drug and alcohol abuse is at an all-time high. Sexual perversion, promiscuity, and pornography are destroying lives and relationships.
I'll tell you, some days I wonder if we're in a submarine at the bottom of the sea, with no hope of seeing the sun on the water again.
What can we do when we feel like that? I've found a way to the surface. Repeat after me, and we can both be saved from our despairing moments: "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1).
When all I can see is trouble everywhere I turn, I review the names of God to remind me of His goodness and how worthy He is to be praised. Then I give Him a call!
When you need God's power to help, call Elohim- God.
When you need the divine presence of God, call Yahweh- the Lord.
When you need the sacredness of God, call El Elyon- the Most High God.
When you need an overseer of your affairs, call El Roi- the God who sees.
When you need an all-powerful deity, call El Shaddai- God Almighty.
When you need a provider, call Yahweh Yireh- the Lord will provide.
When you need a helper, call Yahweh Nissi- the Lord is my banner.
When you need peace of mind, call Yahweh Shalom- the Lord of peace.
When you need a perfect Savior, call Qedosh Yisrael- God is morally perfect.
When you need a protector, call Yahweh Sabaoth- God is our Savior and Protector.
When you need a God who will not die, call El Olam- the everlasting God.
When you need a God of righteousness, call Yahweh Tsidkenu- God is our standard for right behavior and righteous living.
When you need a divine presence, call Yahweh Shammah- the Lord is there.
When you need a God of ultimate authority, call Attiq Yomin- the Ancient of Days, who will one day judge the nations.
Right this minute I can feel refreshing air being pumped into my spirit, lifting it from the bottom of the sea to the surface where the Light of God is beaming down on the cabin of my soul. My soul sings "Holy, Holy, Holy" to the Lord God Almighty. The whole earth is full of Your glory! Blessing and honor, dominion and power be unto You, Most High God. You are here for us in every area of our lives. We praise You because You are worthy of our praise!
My soul is no longer cast down. I am no longer disturbed. God has hoisted my soul from the depths to the light, by the power of His name. My spirit is irrepressible because He has filled it with hope. Hallelujah!
Oh, Divine Master, it's so good to consider Your name. Our only true hope lies in Your character. Any time we feel like we cannot rise above the ocean floor, may Your name fill our minds and lift our hearts in praise. We appreciate the wonder-working power of Your name, God Most High. Amen.
Do not be full of worry and fear. Give Me your cares and put your complete trust in Me. You are My child and I care about every area of your life. So rest in My unfailing love, and I will take care of everything that concerns you.
"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" 1 Peter 5:7
"The Lord will vindicate me; Your love, Lord, endures forever—do not abandon the works of Your hands" Psalm 138:8
When you pray, I hear you! Not only do I hear you, but I will answer you, and you will be in awe of My great love. I will move strongly in your life as you depend on Me. You are the apple of My eye, and I send My angels to protect you.
"I call on You, my God, for You will answer me; turn Your ear to me and hear my prayer. Show me the wonders of Your great love, You who save by Your right hand, those who take refuge in You from their foes. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings" Psalm 17: 6-8
You are never alone, My child; for I am your Heavenly Father, and I will always be there to help you in your time of need.
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble" Psalm 46:1
"If you say, "The Lord is my refuge," and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;" Psalm 91:9-11
And if y'all could pray for my cousin's wife, I would be grateful. My family fears that she is dying and she still doesn't know the Lord… so if you could pray for her, that would be terrific. And for my friend's girlfriend and my other's friends neighbor, too. The girlfriend had a seizure and my friend's neighbor is in the hospital with a serious illness. And what's terrible is that he and his twin brother had a big fight the week before he got sick and now he feels all guilty. So I'm... concerned for them both. Thank you guys for listening and for all your previous prayers. We truly do appreciate it! *sends love to you all*
To JC: Me? A boss? XD Aw! *hugs you* Well, thanks. But the Lord was the one who gave me this gift. He is the boss, not me. And of course the lovely Miss blondie-moyashi is too. Thank you so much for the review though! It totally made my day.

B/N: Gaahh, the humanity! The feels! It's almost too much! And yet, 'twas oddly enjoyable to write. But there ya have it, the last bit to Chasm. Do not fret, though! This most certainly isn't the end :D I do hope you'll join us on this ride of feels onto the next installment *laaa* In return for the awesomeness and love you guys have shown, I'll sneak you some of my amazing cookies I normally save for my ninja army.
