Arthur looked out at his people from the balcony, basking in the feeling of accomplishment as they cheered.

It hadn't been long since his coronation, but already the people were happier than they had been under his father's reign. Spirits were high and no sorcerers, beasts, or crazed deviants had attacked in months. He thought it well within his rights to feel content for the moment. When he turned to see Merlin with a similar look of satisfaction, however, that was going a bit far.

"Stop smirking, Merlin. You look like an idiot," the king murmured.

After all, it wasn't as if he had anything to do with Arthur's success.
