AN: And here is Chapter 10 which so far has been smoother sailing than 9. Also a review caught my attention were someone was saying they wished the flashback would be finished and back to the Kage Summit, what I want to tell you all is that the first chapter was a prologue and that I used a writing technique called In medias res which simply means I started the story in the middle so these chapters are not flashbacks but the actual story. So hope this cleared up any confusion. Also this is late because College has been kicking my ass without mercy so I have been working constantly.

Chapter 10 The Land of Waves

Naruto decided he quite liked Tazuna's home and his daughter wasn't bad to look at either, shame that this country was under the rule of an asshole.

"So you're an Uzumaki?" Natsu asked eagerly.

"Yes, I look like my Father more than my Mother which is why I don't have the typical red hair." Naruto said pre-emptively.

Natsu blushed and looked down at his meal.

They all were currently situated within Tsunami's home specifically the dining area which was rather cluttered with the amount of people in there.

"Is fighting Zabuza really the only reason you're here?" Yumi asked shrewdly.

"Yes." Naruto answered.

Naruto observed Yumi's reaction, she obviously did not believe him, Naruto just snorted and stood up.

"Where are you going?" Yumi asked suspiciously.

"Out." Was his short reply and then he walked out the door and into the wilderness.

"Don't mind him, He's always like this." Ranmaru said with a smile.

"He seems, intense." Kakashi said after a moment or so.

"Yeah, it's just the way he is." Ranmaru agreed before getting up as well.

"And where are you going?" Yumi asked.

"After him, he's probably gone to hunt for some food." Ranmaru answered.

"Why, the food not good enough here." Tazuna said snidely.

"No, he just hates having to rely on others and the fact that he hates it when strong people bully weaker people, he thinks it's pathetic." Ranmaru explained and walked out of the door.

"Strange duo, they have near opposite personalities but get along really well." Kakashi said this in an explanatory manner but there was a certain wistfulness to it as if he was remembering something from long ago.

"It can't be a coincidence that two unknown ninja that are strong just turn up on our first mission outside of Konoha." Yumi said while glaring suspiciously.

"I Dunno Sis, I mean you saw him fight Zabuza right and his friend just stood still not even reacting when it looked like Kai-San would get seriously injured." Natsu explained, showing under his idiotic tendencies there was still a sharp eye for details.

Yumi scoffed at what he said and went back to eating, as she done that Kakashi glanced over at Sasuke who had remained completely silent throughout both exchanges.

"You ok Sasuke?" He decided to ask.

Sasuke glanced up at him and nodded before going back to eating.

'I wonder what he's thinking about, the shock of Zabuza's Killing Intent or maybe the fact that someone not much older than him could fight near on par with a powerful Jonin.' Kakashi internally debated.

Ranmaru had managed to catch up to Naruto whom was sitting by a lake with a fishing rod created from a tree branch and some string and a hook he had within his supplies, Ranmaru sat down next to him.

"So how was it?" Ranmaru asked as he sat down next to Naruto.

"Unique." Was his short answer.

"Yeah I guess it would be pretty strange to meet the sibling you left years ago." Ranmaru said as he leaned back on his arms.

"They have grown up, but their personalities haven't changed at all despite how much they try to hide it." Naruto said still gazing out at the lake.

"Getting nostalgic." Ranmaru teased.

"A little." Another short answer.

"So what are we gonna do now?" Ranmaru asked.

"We wait for Zabuza then when he shows up I fight him, when I win we move on to the next strong warrior and if I lose then you move on with your life, simple." Naruto explained in a bored manner.

"Wow is this how you'll live all your life?" Ranmaru asked with some suprise in his voice.

"Yeah, got a problem?" Naruto asked sharply.

"No, not at all it's what I expected of you." Ranmaru said this with a smile like the sun, obviously he was thinking about something else.

Naruto finally felt a tug on his fishing rod and pulled back instantly and a fish was hooked on the end and landed at his feet flopping around.

"Nice catch." Ranmaru commented.

"You take over I'll set up a camp site." Naruto said as he passed the rod to Ranmaru who moved forward and took the rod after Naruto handed it over.

Naruto then sharply turned to the right, gazing into the forest.

"You can come out." He said clearly.

Ranmaru was also looking over at a specific tree.

The person who walked out from the tree would be described as beautiful, with long black hair, pale skin and large dark brown eyes complimented with a slender frame, they are wearing a pink, sleeveless kimono, with pale red edges and decorated with small plum-coloured swirls, that went to their ankles. Around the waist was a simple white obi tied in a bow, and was wearing a pair of light brown sandals with dark straps and a dark-coloured choker around the neck.

"You're Zabuza's little Hunter-Nin." Naruto said with a smirk.

"Ah you look much cuter with the mask off." Ranmaru chipped in.

She merely looked at both Naruto and Ranmaru with suspicion and was slowly reached up her sleeve.

"Now, now there's no need to get violent." Naruto said flippantly.

"You wish to harm Zabuza-Sama." She said with a bit of force.

"So." Was Naruto's reply

"I won't let you." She said again this time with a senbon in one hand.

"You won't be able to stop either of us, you see me and Zabuza are true Warriors we seek battle not for money or for ideals we fight simply for the sake of fighting and no one, not even you will be able to stop our fight it's intrinsic to our very existence." Naruto said this while looking straight into her eyes and with his blue eyes as cold as a glacier.

She stood there shocked at Naruto's little speech, Naruto scoffed and walked away from her going to look for a decent place to set up a camp.

"He's right you know, people like him and Zabuza don't get happy endings the only place for them is the battlefield surrounded by blood and death and that's also were they'll die not even a pretty girl like you can stop that." Ranmaru also said this while fishing, not even looking at her.

She stood there for a couple of moments absorbing the information given to her before finally putting the senbon away and looking at Ranmaru.

"I'm a boy by the way." This was said as she turned around to walk away.

"No you're not, it's a good double bluff though, dressing up like that but then saying you're a boy it must distract a lot of people but not me or Kai we both have very good eyes it comes with constantly fighting with your life on the line." Ranmaru said with a light inflection in his voice.

"Anyway what's your name?" Ranmaru asked, ignorant to her shock.

"H-Haku." She stuttered out.

"Nice name for a pretty girl." Ranmaru said again.

"I need to go Zabuza-Sama will be waiting." Haku muttered before using Shunshin to run away.

"Ha she ran away." Ranmaru chuckled to himself.

Haku indeed ran away, back to Zabuza's Hideout to talk with him about what she had learned from Kai Uzumaki the swordsman who wished only to fight him. She had arrived in harried state and looked ruffled from moving so quickly through the forest.

"Haku what happened?" Zabuza asked at seeing her state.

"Zabuza-Sama." She muttered looking at him.

"Well." He said in an annoyed manner.

"I met with the other swordsman Kai and his friend." Haku answered.

"And what happened, did you get any useful information?" Zabuza questioned.

"No, He told me that a fight between the two of you cannot be stopped and that no one would be able to stop it and that both your lives would only end on the battlefield." Haku explained after taking a deep breath.

A moment or so passed where Zabuza had a pensive look on his face contemplating what Haku had told him.

"Yes that's right, demons like us have nothing else but a battlefield and constantly fighting to see who is the strongest among us." Zabuza said in an explanatory manner,

"But that's." Haku began to speek but was cut by a sharp glance from Zabuza.

"I don't expect you to understand there are very few people left in this peaceful world that are like us, people who don't care about stupid things like politics or ideals but instead focus on one of the most basic instinct within all men, the need to be the strongest that primal instinct where we wish to stand above all over men and challenge Kami itself." Zabuza said with absolute belief in his ideals.

"I-I See, Sorry Zabuza-Sama." Haku said conceding to him.

Zabuza just nodded at her and turned around back to his bed.

"We move in a week, by that time Gato will have assembled all the mercenaries." Zabuza said.

"Yes, Zabuza-Sama." Haku acknowledged.

Zabuza then left Haku to her thoughts.

"Kai-San, I have the fish." Ranmaru called out with three dead fish tied with string hanging from the stick which was the fishing rod.

"Put them on the fire." Naruto said.

Ranmaru walked into the clearing where Naruto had set up a camp with a fire in the centre which also had sticks surrounding it as well as holding an iron pot over it, which was filled with water and herbs there was also two sleeping rolls on either side of it with Naruto sitting by the fire stirring the pot slowly.

"So we aren't going back to Tazuna-San's House?" Ranmaru asked as he untied the fish and put two of them on sticks and holding them over the fire while handing the third to Naruto.

"No, it's better to be within nature easier to detect intruders." Naruto explained as he began to cut the fish up and put the meat within the pot.

"You have really good senses anyway would it matter being inside a house." Ranmaru said with a little confusion.

"Less room to manoeuvre." Naruto answer was short and simple.

Ranmaru just nodded and monitored their dinners progress.

"What will happen to that girl Haku if you do kill Zabuza?" Ranmaru asked clearly.

"She will either hate me and try to kill me or she could find her own path." Naruto said with boredom in his voice.

"Maybe we could take her with us." Ranmaru offered.

"What is that what I do now kill their Sensei and take them in like strays." Naruto said with amusement.

"You did with me." Ranmaru said clearly with a hint of steel within his eyes.

"I did, didn't I." Naruto muttered to himself.

A couple of moments passed where the only sound was the fire crackling and the smell of fish being cooked filled the small forest clearing.

"Fine, if she can stand me afterwards and since you have a crush on her." Naruto declared.

"Wha- I don't have a crush." Ranmaru protested with a blush on his cheeks.

Naruto just gave him a flat stare, which caused him to fidget in place.

"Yeah I thought so." Nauto said to him with a smirk.

"Shut up." Ranmaru muttered.

"After Zabuza, we're hunting that snake." Naruto said in a solemn manner.

"Sure." Ranmaru agreed with a tightness in his voice.
