Don't own a thing.
This is an addition to my line of (probably most if not all unrelated) stories based on lyrics from every MB20 song.
When The Slow Parade Went Past
When It Felt So Good That You Knew It Couldn't Last
And All Too Soon The End Was Gonna Come Without A Warning
And You'd Have To Just Go Home
Angel reached for Buffy's much smaller hand as they stood on the sidewalk, along with the rest of the town. Her fingers entwined with him and her face tilted up so her eyes could lock with his.
Angel smiled, getting one in return as chocolate met emerald.
There was a underlining of sadness, but for right now, joy could win out.
Summer was coming to an end, which meant he was leaving this sleepy town he'd come to for the summer to return home, back to the real world. There were a lot of things to look forward to, but a lot he found over the past few months that he'd be leaving behind as well.
The biggest being a high school senior, blonde teenager, pain in the ass who'd stolen his heart upon first sight.
Apparently she'd felt the same but had done everything possible to make sure he didn't know that.
Life had been fun once she stepped into the picture, that was sure.
His dad had taken a job out here and since he was off from school, he came along for the ride. At first hating it, but then there was her. And it wasn't so bad. Bothering the tiny blonde became the highlight of his day... and only progressed from there until they were so wrapped up in one another you'd think they were glued together at the hip.
But now fall was starting to sneak in and it was getting closer to time they'd have to say goodbye.
This would be their last full day with one another, in fact. And he had no idea what he was going to do.
Both of them seemed to be pretending like it wasn't coming, wasn't happening. Anytime one would bring it up, the other would change the subject. There was a silent agreement not to get emotional.
But it hung in the air, and their actions the past few days said what their mouths wouldn't.
Today they came out together for some town sponsered events, doing their best to have a good time.
Tomorrow it'd all be over though. He'd be going hundreds of miles away, back to the life and place he'd come from. And he had no idea what was going to happen with the two of them, when he'd see her again, if he even would.
Buffy raised an eyebrow and he gave a sheepish smile, releasing the tight hold on her hand for a more relaxed one. He brought it up to his lips, kissing gently.
"I love you," she whispered.
Angel tugged her closer. "I love you, too."
