It was 6 o'clock on Friday, and the nerves were starting to build. He's coming over in an hour and you're place looks like shit, I thought. I

ran around in my bra and panties trying to tidy everything up. My makeup was already done and my hair was curled and pinned to the side. I

reached down to pick up a thong off the floor when my phone buzzed.

Piper: Annie, I NEED to go out tonight! I'm all alone… Jason has a business meeting

My thumbs flew across the keyboard while I typed out my response.

Can't got a- I was about to write hot date when I realized Piper couldn't be trusted with that type of information.

Can't- got a meeting with my stylist. Maybe some other time.

There, that should keep her tied for a bit, I thought with forced conviction. I went back to cleaning the apartment and downing a glass of brandy. Choosing my outfit was difficult- I couldn't get too dressy or it would insinuate I was high-maintenance, but I didn't want to go too casual or he would think I didn't care. Plus, I was serving some damn good wine from North Cali. I ended up wearing a white lace shirt with a black high-low skirt and my favorite Jimmy Choos.

At 6:45, I threw a tray of oven empanadas to serve with the wine. I nervously tapped around in my heels and realized that we would need

music. I trotted over to my record player and threw on my LCD Soundsystem record.

"New York I love you, but you're bringing me down," I sang deeply and lowly.

I continued until I was at the final guitar solo when the door rang. My heart dropped to my feet while turnning down the music and heading

to the door. Taking a deep breath, I unlocked the hing and swung it open.

"Hey," I breathed. Percy looked really sharp in his polo top and khaki pants.

"Hey yourself," he responded coolly, tugging at his collar.

"Welcome to La Casa Chase," I announced while gesturing for him to come in.

He came in and looked around, taking in the apartment. His eyebrows went up in a really cute way, but I couldn't stop and stare. I had to

go take the appetizers out of the oven before they burned and set off the fire alarm.

"The top penthouses are really nice. It's cool that I finally get to see one," he joked.

I laughed in a way that I thought was cute. "What floor do you live on, then?"

"I live on the 16th floor," he responded, sliding into a bar chair.

16th floor, I thought. Not that bad; he must be self-made.

"Have you always lived in New York?" Percy questioned.

"Yeah. I grew up in a brownstone in Central Park. How about you?"

"Wow, brownstone, huh? I was actually born and raised in Michigan. My dad was a poor fisherman, and he always told me, 'Percy, don't be

me. Study hard in school and be something better.' So I did. I got a football scholarship to NYU and have been working for Viacom Media ever

since."

"Wow," I breathed, pouring our first glasses of wine. "That's actually amazing."

"Thank you," he answered with a genuine smile. "What do you do?"

My smile faltered. I didn't want to just come out and say I was a trust-fund kid.

"Um… I went to school for architecture at Cornell, but I'm not working right now. I'm looking, though."

Good save, Annabeth, I congratulated myself. It was the truth, anyway.

"You think I'm impressive? I'm not creative at all," Percy laughed.

"But I'm hardly business oriented!" I refuted.

He took a sip of his drink. "Damn, this is really good. Must have cost a fortune to get something like this."

I shrugged. "Hey, I have good taste."

We continued learning about each other and finishing bottles of red wine. I looked up at the clock and realized it was 11:30.

"Hey, Percy. Didn't you say you have to be at work at 8 tomorrow?"

He looked at his watch. "Shit, yeah. Annabeth, thank you so much for this. I'll pay for the date next time.

NEXT TIME!? HE WANTED TO HANG OUT AGAIN?!

"So you're keeping me around?" I questioned.

"For now, at least," he chuckled, putting his coat on.

"Well, thanks for coming, Percy."

He gave me a half-smile. "I'll see you around, Annabeth."

With that, he closed the door behind him, and I fell down on my couch.

Surprise, bitch- I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me. I'm back! I feel like a total bitch and you can tell me I am, but I forgot about this! My life got really crazy (competitive horse show, school) and it just slipped away. I promise I will try to come back more often than every three months. ciao!
