Child of Earth
Naruto x Cornelia (Flashbacks). Naruto and Lilian sibling like relationship.
The soft and continuous streams of little pats covered the providence of Heatherfield. Dull grey clouds filled the sky as howling winds and pouring rain water beat against the large windows of the room. The darkness of night blanketed the room as only the outline of furniture could be made. The sound of the noise kept young Lilian Hale awake as she tried to get some form of sleep.
Lilian hated the rain. She would shutter every time the when howl or when the thunder roared. This sense of uneasiness would never leave her considering the circumstances behind her dislike of the phenomenon. It was on a night like this that her family had been killed.
Lilians sat up and gently grasp the necklace small pink jewel in it in her hands. As a child, Lilian had no idea the importance of the jewel, but as she grew older she came to learn that the jewel was the 'Heart of Earth' and it had vast magical powers. Each planet had the manifestation of its world's power in some form and Lilian was the Heart of Earth.
At first it was hard to accept, but once she was exposed to magic she couldn't deny it anymore. At age thirteen she was finally given her powers by her regent, but of course she kept Napoleon around. The talking cat who was initially masquerading as a normal pet remained one of her oldest friends and closest confidants.
Though even Napoleon's help was limited in the advice he could give her. Her guardian was the one currently helping her understand the nature of her power and was the only person she had left that she could consider family.
The sound of a door opening caused Lilian to cease her thoughts. She got up, throwing back the covers. She was no longer a little girl, her hair had grown out, mid back length and her chubbiness had faded with age. She was wearing lilac colored pajamas. She opened the door and peered out to see her guardian walk in.
He looked soaked not to mention a bit tired. His skin tone was on the pale side and his eyes were heavy with exhaustion. His normally spiky blond hair hung down his sides, soaked by rain and his blue eyes were heavy with sorrow.
"You should be asleep." He spoke as Lilian tensed and closed her eyes. She had nothing to say. "I guess…you couldn't sleep." He added in the same grave and tired tone as Lilian slowly nodded.
She opened her eyes and saw that Naruto was taking off his jacket. Rain water was dripping on the carpet and floor as he kicked off his dirty boots by the side of the door.
"Naruto?" she gently called out to him causing him to stop.
"I'll make us some tea. Since I'm sure neither one of us want to sleep tonight." Naruto remarked as he went to the kitchen. The sound of rainfall continued as nothing but silence permeated through the apartment.
