AN: Ok so last chapter! I know it's sad, but it needs to come to an end. I am thinking strongly about writing a sequel to Cause You Always Want What You Can't Have. So look for that coming soon, but thank you to everyone who has stuck through this story and reviewed it has been awesome writing this for you. I hope you guys enjoyed, here you go!
All mistakes are mine.
Kennedy looked over at the clock one more time as she sat next to the bed that Jesse slept in. it had been a month, a full month since she last saw Leon and Dom. The aching in her heart was beginning to go away, she knew they were nowhere in Los Angeles, and it made her heart happy to know that they got away. She hoped. She looked back up at the clock for the fifth time in five minutes. She sighed as she put her face in her hands.
"Kennedy!" Mia came rushing into the room.
"What?" Kennedy shot up from the chair and turned around. "What's wrong?"
"Mia…is everything alright?" Jesse asked lifting himself to a sitting position on the bed. Kennedy moved over to him grabbing his hand.
"I just talked to her. She is fine, she is gone. So is everyone else. She talked to Dom, just once though. He is fine…"
"Leon?" Kennedy felt Jesse squeeze her hand.
"I'm sorry Ken, she didn't say anything about him."
Kennedy bowed her head. "You have to do something now if you are going to do anything, the cops are going to be back and they are going to take him Ken."
"I know, I know." She whispered.
"I have everything packed for you, I put it in the Honda, its ready for you when you are. The tickets are in there too. Everything is ready, you just need to decide when you want to go."
"How are we going to get out of here without being seen?" Kennedy asked.
"I'll handle that." Mia smirked.
"Are you going to be able to do this?" Kennedy turned her attention to Jesse. He smiled at her before nodding his head.
"This is what we have to do Ken, to be together."
"So when do you want to do this?" Mia asked.
"I guess there's no better time than now." Kennedy gave a soft smile. "Mia…" The tears filled up her eyes.
"You are going to be fine. Both of you are, but I need you get as far away from here as you possibly can while you still can. I love you both so much but you need to go, and you need to go now."
Kennedy wiped her face as the tears fell down. "I love you Mia, thank you for being my best friend." Kennedy wrapped her arms around the girl. Jesse threw back the blanket and threw his legs over the side of the bed and stood up. He was limping but his walking had become a lot better. He knew he was going to be released soon and the cops were going to come for him. He walked over to Mia wrapping his arms around her.
"Goodbye." Mia whispered pulling away from him. She wiped her face with her hand before going to the door. "You are taking him to therapy, go down the hall take a left and there is an exit. The car is waiting for you. I know we will see each other again, I know it."
Kennedy nodded her head as she grabbed Jesse's hand. "Goodbye Mia." With that she was gone. Kennedy closed her eyes as Jesse sat down in the wheelchair.
"We have to go Ken, come on." Jesse ushered her. She nodded her head slowly as she moved behind him and pushed him towards the door. She looked out as everyone was hurrying down the hall.
"And where do you think you are going?" A man approached them. Kennedy took a deep breath before turning around.
"Its Thursday, he has therapy on Thursdays."
The man looked at her before nodding his head. "How long does it take again?"
"An hour." Kennedy rolled her eyes.
"Be back in an hour."
"We plan on it." Kennedy replied sarcastically. She shook her head as she turned back around and began pushing Jesse. "What a jackass."
Jesse began to laugh. He patted her hand and they both stared straight ahead. The turn was coming just as she heard Mia begin to scream. Kennedy stopped in her tracks.
"Keep going Ken, don't stop." Jesse mumbled to her. "You have to keep going."
Kennedy nodded her head as she began to move again. Her heart was racing as her hands began to shake. Whatever Mia was doing it was working, everyone was rushing down the hall to her. Kennedy picked up the speed as they turned the corner, the door was in sight. She could feel her heart begin to beat faster. They were almost clear, they were almost free. She stopped right before the door to help Jesse out of the chair. He had to walk the rest of the way. She wrapped her arm around his waist as they moved to the door. "Come on Jess, just a few more steps."
"Get the door, I'm okay."
She let him go and moved to the door, pressing it open. An alarm began to go off. "Oh shit!" Kennedy yelled. Jesse picked up the speed as he basically threw himself out of the door. Kennedy rushed over to the Honda throwing open the door and climbing in, unlocking the passenger. As Kennedy looked up she saw two cops running towards them.
"Jesse!" She yelled. He quickly opened the door and climbed in.
"GO!" She pressed her foot down on the gas slinging them backwards as the car shot forward. She changed the gears quickly as she looked in the rearview mirror. "We good?"
"Yeah." She breathed a sigh of relief. "We have to get to rid of this car."
"Just go straight to the airport Ken, we will ditch it there."
"I don't see how this is going to work Jess, are pictures are going to be posted everywhere."
"Right now, it's just Dom, Leon, Letty, and Vince that are posted. They think they have me so they won't do it just yet. We get on this plane and we leave for good with these." He pulled out the passports that were hiding in the bag.
"Yes, Leah and Ryan. Mia had our names changed, so from now on until we arrive we are Leah and Ryan Houston."
Kennedy began to laugh. "Are you serious?"
"Yes, it's the only way to get out of the country without being stopped. We get to the airport, we get on the plane and we are gone from here forever."
Kennedy nodded her head at him. "We are going to get through this Ken…"
She continued to nod her head as the tears filled up her eyes again. "Ken…" He whispered. She shook her head at him.
"I'm fine." She pulled the sunglasses down over her eyes as she continued to drive down the road. They were fifteen minutes from the airport. They had fifteen minutes to be with each other until they had to change their lives forever. Her mind wandered to her brother. Everyone was alright…except for Leon.
The car came to a stop as Kennedy looked behind her. There was no one around as she turned to the backseat to grab the bags. Jesse stopped her with his hand, turning her face towards his and kissing her.
"I love you." He told her.
"I love you too." She whispered before kissing him one last time before they got out of the car. She grabbed his hand as they walked towards the door. She looked around as Jesse pulled her towards the counter to check in. She was trying her hardest not to look suspicious but it wasn't working out. She felt like everyone knew what she was doing.
"Ken…" Jesse whispered. "Give her your ticket and passport."
Kennedy nodded her head as she gave the woman her things. "Yes, so two to Italy. It's so nice there this time of year, are you staying for a while?"
Kennedy nodded her head. "Yes."
"Well you two have a good flight." The woman smiled at them. Kennedy nodded her head before retrieving her ticket and passport.
Jesse reached down grabbing her hand as they moved to the stairs to take them to the top. "I'm going to need you to relax, you are way too tense right now."
"I'm freaking out right now." Kennedy whispered.
"Well you can freak out on the plane, right now I need you relax and focus. We can't draw attention to ourselves."
Kennedy nodded her head at him and gave him a soft smile. They arrived at the top and walked over to chairs and sat down. "So have you even looked at the brochure of Italy yet?" Jesse smiled at her pulling it out of his bag. Kennedy shook her head.
"I've been busy."
"Well I on the other hand have had a month to prepare, so I took the liberty to plan some things for us to do when we get there." He continued to smile.
"Did you now?"
"Yes…first the hotel room."
Kennedy died laughing as she wrapped her arm around his waist hugging him tightly. "Then we eat, then…more of the hotel room." Kennedy continued to laugh. She looked up just as three cops came together.
"Jess…" She whispered. He sat up and looked up ahead.
"Let's move, come on."
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we are now boarding flight 183 from Los Angeles to Florence, Italy." The announcer filled the room with the announcement as Jesse retrieved the bags from the floor and moved towards the metal detectors. Kennedy's heart began to race again as the cops began to move towards them.
"I know, I know. Just keep moving." He put the bags on the table as they both took off their shoes and put them in the bucket. Kennedy hurried through as she watched behind Jesse as the cop made it to the line. He was looking at everyone.
"Come on Jess…" She whispered.
"Go, I'll catch up." Jesse told her. She shook her head at him. She wasn't leaving him. They were in this together.
"You can go sir." A man standing across from him replied. Jesse nodded his head as he grabbed the bags and his shoes. They hurried to the stairs, not once looking back and disappeared. She quickly grabbed is hand as they moved to the terminal. They were almost there.
"Welcome aboard, just the two of you flying today?" The woman at the desk asked.
"Yes." Jesse replied. Kennedy looked behind her, the same cop was walking around. She tightened her grip on Jesse's hand. "Thank you."
"You two enjoy your flight." Kennedy nodded her head as Jesse pulled her through the door. She couldn't breathe. Her heart was beating so fast. She thought she was going to pass out. Jesse continued to pull her down the hall towards the plane.
"We are almost there Ken, don't give out on me now."
They made it. They were on the plane. They found their seats quickly as Jesse put the bags above their heads and sat down next to Kennedy. He took her hand in his and kissed it repeatedly. "We are okay, we are fine."
She tried to calm her breathing as the tears began to fall down her face. She tried to hide them but it was no use. She was at her breaking point. She was fixing to leave everything behind her. Her house, her family, hell she didn't even know where her family was. But Mia, it hurt her so bad to leave her behind. It hurt her to the point she felt like she was going to break.
"Are you alright?" The flight attendant approached them.
"It's her first time flying, she isn't really comfortable with it right now." Jesse smiled.
"Oh I understand, would you like me to get something to calm your nerves?"
Kennedy nodded her head. "Yes please." Jesse replied. He pulled Kennedy over to him wrapping his arms around her as she continued to cry. "It's going to be okay."
"I miss Leon." Kennedy cried.
The plane was in the air within a matter of minutes after the attendant brought Kennedy some medicine to help calm her nerves. She remained in Jesse's arms as the plane took off. She slowly closed her eyes as she let sleep take over her body. She was exhausted. Her mind was on overload as she continued to think about the family that was split apart. She thought about Johnny, how he was dead just like that. She thought about Mia, how alone she was going to be. She missed Leon, she missed him a lot. He never answered his cell, he never once wrote to anyone to tell them he was okay. It was like he just disappeared off the earth without a trace. Without a goodbye. Her mind wondered to the day Jesse was shot. "I will find you Ken, I will find you." Those were the last words her spoke to her before turning around and running away. She wasn't mad at him. He needed to go, he needed to leave. She was mad that it came down to this. Everything was perfect, their lives were perfect, and then Brian came. He messed everything up. He ripped her family apart. She was furious with him. She felt the plane jerk as she shifted in her seat. She was asleep but still her mind kept going. She felt it jerk again causing her to shoot up and look around.
"You're okay, its just turbulence." Jesse assured her. "Calm down."
"Where are we?"
"Just over the Pacific, we should be there in about six more hours. Just relax Ken, they cant touch us now."
Kennedy nodded her head as she leaned back closing her eyes. "We need to find Leon, Jesse. How is that Letty calls but no one else does?"
"Its not safe, Letty shouldn't have called either."
"I just want to know that he is okay."
"He is fine Ken, he has to be. We would know if anything happened to him."
Kennedy shook her head. "I just miss them."
"I miss them too." He kissed her hand. "Now go back to sleep, we will be there before you know it."
She nodded her head at him as she pushed her seat back and closed her eyes once more.
Kennedy shot up from the seat as the captain came over the speaker to tell them they had arrived in Italy. Kennedy looked around the plane as everyone began clapping their hands.
"Its about time, I was beginning to get very bored." Jesse smirked at her.
"I didn't know that I slept that long. Why didn't you wake me?"
"You needed it Ken, you haven't slept since I got shot."
"We made it." She smiled as she wrapped her arms around his body. He kissed her on the side of the head.
"Yeah we did didn't we? Everything is going to be okay now, we are going to be okay."
She nodded her head at him. "Ladies and Gentlemen, the captain has turned off the fasten seat belt sign, you are now able to exit the plane. Thank you for riding Delta Flight 183, it has been a pleasure."
Kennedy smiled as she took off her seatbelt and stood up. She stretched her arms above her head before grabbing the bags down.
"I got those." Jesse smiled at her. He kissed her on the forehead before grabbing the bags. "Go on, lets get off this plane."
Kennedy laughed as she turned around and walked towards the front of the plane. They were in one of the most beautiful cities on the planet and she was with the one person she loved the most. She smiled to herself. Life at that moment was great, it had to be. She had no choice. So she choice to live it in peace.
"You see that, that's the Ponte Vecchio." Jesse pointed out. Kennedy began to laugh. "I told you I had a lot of time on my hands."
"You sure did."
"And that up there is our hotel…" He pointed straight ahead. She looked up front and saw the most beautiful building in front of her.
"This is where we are staying?"
"Yes, Hotel Laurus al Duomo Firenze." The taxi driver spoke. Kennedy couldn't help but smile as the man continued to speak. She looked out the window at all the beautiful sights as they passed them.
"This is the most beautiful place I have ever seen."
"Yes, wonderful. Many magics happen here." The driver spoke again. "Your dreams will come true."
"Are you married?" Kennedy asked.
"Yes, forty two years."
"Wow, that's a long time."
"Yes, I love her dearly. Here is your stop. I hope you enjoy your stay here."
"Thank you so much." Kennedy replied with a smile. She climbed out of the car and walked to the sidewalk as Jesse retrieved the bags. She looped her arm through his as she waved at the taxi driver as he drove away.
"Magic." He whispered in her ear. "Come on lets go." They turned towards the entrance of the hotel. Kennedy looked around and saw everyone was smiling. There was nothing to hide from here. Nothing to run from. They were free, truly free.
"Yes, Ryan Houston." Jesse replied smiling at Kennedy who was still looking around.
"Yes Mr Houston, I have you here with a king room for two weeks?"
"Alrighty, here are your keys and if you need anything at all please don't hesitate to ask."
"Enjoy your stay."
"Ken…" Jesse whispered. "Lets go!" She giggled as she rushed over to him grabbing his hand and walking to the elevator.
"Leon would be freaking out right now if he saw this place."
"I think they all would be."
"We're going to be alright, I know that now." Kennedy smiled at him.
"We are free Ken, we are finally free."
She nodded her head as the elevator reached their floor and opened up. Kennedy felt the breeze from the air blowing through the terrace as they walked to their private door of their room.
"We are about to walk into forever are you ready Jesse Miller?"
"If forever is with you, then I have always been ready."
She stood on her toes as she kissed him softly on the lips. "Can we go inside now?" He asked. She nodded her head as she pulled away from him. He set the bags down on the ground as he stuck the key in and opened it. The beauty hit them in the face. There were flowers everywhere as the breeze blew in from the terrace. Kennedy squealed as she went running in. "How perfect is this?"
"Absolutely." Jesse was stunned.
"Look at this view."
"Im going to put the bags up, I'll be out there in a minute."
Kennedy wasn't paying much attention as she went out on the terrace and looked over the edge. They were literally in paradise. There was a knock on the door, but she didn't move. She knew Jesse would get it. She closed her eyes and lifted her hands in the air as she let the air hit her. This was so much better than Los Angeles. It was…magical.
"KENNEDY!" Jesse yelled. Kennedy's hands shot down as she jerked around towards the room. Her heart began to beat fast.
"NO…" She gasped. She couldn't move as she continued to look through the door.
"KENNEDY!" Jesse yelled again.
"Jesse, are you okay?" Kennedy asked. He said nothing. She covered her mouth. Had they been found? It was too soon. They just got there, it wasn't supposed to be like this.
"Kennedy ,I need you!" Jesse yelled. She nodded her head as she slowly moved into the room and closed the door behind. She moved around the corner and her heart hit the floor.
"Le..." She couldn't breathe. "Leon?" She gasped. Her brother was there. He was standing right there in their room in Florence, Italy.
"Hey Ken…" He whispered. Tears filled up her eyes as she continued to stare at him.
"Leon…." She gasped again.
"Ken…" He went to explain.
"LEON!" She screamed running towards him and jumping into his arms. She wrapped her arms around his neck as she began to sob. He was safe. He was there.
"Oh I have missed you." He whispered to her. He jerked Jesse into the hug. "You scared the shit out of me."
Kennedy couldn't believe it. They were together like they were supposed to be. Leon was here with them, he was alive and he was safe. Kennedy wouldn't let him go for the longest time that day. She feared if she did, he would disappear again. Her family was beginning to become whole again. She knew it would be awhile before she could see everyone again but this was a start. This was the beginning of the fresh start she had been longing for. She had the two men she loved most with her and there was no way in hell she was ever letting that go.
