Kingdom Hearts II: A Journey's End

Epilogue 3: My promise

Haruka sat next to Riku on the leaning Paopu fruit tree of the play islands. They held hands and watched the sun set.

"It's beautiful." She said. "Everything about these islands, the sky, sand, ocean, sunset; they're all beautiful."

"So are you." Riku stated and she looked at him.

"You're such a flirt." She punched his shoulder lightly and he turned to her with a smirk.

"Don't you like it?" He asked and she blushed at this. "You're blushing; that's cute, chubby cheeks." The silver haired teen stated whilst pinching her cheek.

"Stop teasing me about that, Riku! I'm not chubby anymore; I'm 16 years…wait a minute…" She paused and he raised his eyebrows at this.

"What's wrong, Haruka?" He asked curiously and she started thinking. After a few minutes, she gasped and looked up at him with sparkling eyes.

"All these years, I never remembered. I always thought my birthday would be in 2 months. But, today is my birthday!" Haruka exclaimed and he smiled.

"Really? Happy birthday, Princess Haruka." She smiled at this and he hugged her. She hugged him back and they kissed. They pulled away and he snuggled his nose against hers. "I love you."

"Heheheee thanks and love you too, Riku." She kissed his cheek.

"Hey guys, what's going on?" Sora asked as he walked towards the couple.

"Hey Sora, it's Haruka's birthday." Riku said and he smiled.

"Happy Birthday, Haru! You're 17!" Sora sat down next to the red haired teen.

"Thanks Sora." She smiled.

"So, anything interesting happened on your adventure?" Riku asked and they looked at him.

"Riku man, Haruka's got like a fan club everywhere." Sora said and she turned to him.

"What?" She asked.

"You got 4 guys who would die for you." He stated.

"Aw, how cute. That's really sweet, isn't it Haruka?" The silver haired boy nudged her and she blinked.

"4 guys…?" She asked.

"Yeah, remember Lumiere?" She blinked and shook her head.

"Please, don't make me faint. I still can't believe a candle can talk let alone flirt!" She exclaimed. "It's creepy."

"Remember Phil?" Sora asked whilst laughing.

"That's gross, Sora. You're gonna make me puke." Haruka pouted.

"What's wrong with Phil?" Riku asked.

"He's a real flirt and hits on other girls." She answered.

"Seifer was in love with Haru, for real!" Sora stated and she shook her head.

"He was just a good friend and was only being friendly." She countered back.

"Nu-uh! He was really in love with you." He said and she rolled her eyes.

"It must have been infatuated love." She muttered.

Riku and Sora stared at her and she felt their stares. She looked at her closest friend and then at her love.

"Why are you guys looking at me like that?" She asked.

"Do you even know the meaning of infatuated love?" Riku questioned.

"Hey, just 'cuz I don't know the meaning of big words doesn't mean I can't use it in a sentence!" Haruka pouted and they laughed at this.

She crossed her arms and avoided looking at them. Riku sighed and wrapped his arms around her.

"I love you too much, don't ever change." He whispered and she smiled. "Who was the 4th guy?"

"Zack." Sora answered.

Haruka's smile became gentle and sweet. She looked at the sunset and giggled quietly.

"I won't forget him. He made my love for Riku even stronger." She said. "And even though, he liked me, he accepted my love for Riku with a smile."

"He really is a great person." The brown haired teen stated.

"He made me laugh when I was down." She mumbled.

"He made you laugh when you were down, I want to meet him and thank him. We could be really good friends." The cyan eyed teen smiled and she looked at him.

"Really?" Riku nodded and he smiled.

She looked back at the sunset again and thought about Zack.

"And if he breaks your heart again, you always have me." Haruka giggled at this. "I'm joking." She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly.

"Zack, thank you." She said and he hugged her back.

"You don't have to thank me." Zack whispered and she pulled away from him.

A tear fell down her cheek and she sighed.

"Everything seems so perfect." She said.

Riku turned to her and found her bracelet missing; the one from her past.

"Haruka, your bracelet." He stated and Sora turned to her. Haruka looked down at her wrist to see her bracelet missing. But she didn't overreact at this.

"Haruka, your bracelet; it's gone!" The brown haired teen exclaimed. She looked at him with a smile.

"Don't worry. It doesn't matter; I know I'll get it back." She said and he gasped.

"But that's the only thing you have left from your past. Remember when you lost it the first time? You cried but Cloud found it." He explained but she shook her head at this.

"Sora, my bracelet isn't the only thing I have left from my past; I have my memories." Haruka placed her hand on her heart. "My memories from the past live within my heart. In memories, my loved ones live forever; especially my brother."

"Sora! Riku!" Kairi shouted and quick walked it to them. They hopped off the tree and she stopped in front of them panting. Haruka raised an eyebrow; she wasn't even running but she was breathing heavily?

"What's up, Kairi?" Sora asked and she gave them a bottle. The bottle had a scroll in it with a little sign indicating that it was from the King.

Sora opened it and took out the scroll. He started to read and they looked at the later. But Haruka just looked at the ground with a distressed look.

"Sora." Riku stated and they looked at him. "You're mind's made up?" He asked.

"Yeah." He answered.

"And I also found this." Kairi said as she held out something.

Haruka looked and her eyes widened; it was her bracelet and another bracelet which was the same but silver. The red haired girl snatched it off her. The auburn haired girl glared with a pout.

"This is my bracelet…but this is…Kairi, where did you find this?" She asked.

"On the seashore." She answered and the green eyed teen turned to the ocean. She ran up to the edge of the little island and her 2 friends followed her.

"This bracelet, it's my sister's…" She mumbled.

"That means…" Riku trailed off.

"She's out there. Harumi is really out there. She must be waiting." Haruka gripped onto the bracelets and the wind made her hair dance. She looked up and stared into the distance. "I will save you and the others; this is my promise."
