Brittany POV

I woke up groggily, inhaling deeply and stretching my arms above my head. A small smile lit up my face as memories of last night came floating back to my mind. I had so much fun and everything had been so perfect. Santana had done a great job in finding the perfect place. Breathtaking, romantic and distant from any accidental by passers.

After feeding the ducks and Santana singing to me, we shared some mini sandwiches, teeny tiny cupcakes and some popsicles. It was incredibly cute and when I told Santana, she had ducked her head, chin against her chest, which made it all that much cuter. Afterwards we had wrapped ourselves in some blankets and stared up at the stars again, talking about this and that until it was time to go back. Not wanting to overstep the curfew my mom had set for me.

I also couldn't help but blush furiously when I thought back to the kiss we had shared. When we left for the date I hadn't thought that we would kiss but I wouldn't take it back for anything in the world. It had been too perfect.

Giddily, I skipped out of bed and turned up some music, dancing while changing into something proper to wear. My phone shimmied, indicating that I had a text. Rushing over to my nightstand, I picked up my phone and my smile couldn't be wider when I saw who it was.

From Tana: 'Good morning, beautiful! Slept well? Can we meet up in the park when you're free?'

I quickly fired a text back, telling her that I would be there after I had eaten some breakfast. Wondering why she wanted to meet up, I racked my brain but came up empty. Shrugging, I fled out my bedroom to the kitchen to get some food inside my stomach.

Mom was sitting by the kitchen island, her attention completely focused on the paper she was reading. Now that dad wasn't here anymore, she seemed to be home more often. I made a mental note to ask her about it later.

Hugging her gently, I pressed my cheek against hers and mumbled out a good morning. She patted my arm that was still wrapped around her and smiled up at me. "Good morning, sweetheart. Did you have a good night rest?" She questioned while I stepped away from her and grabbed everything I needed for breakfast.

"The best." I cheered with my head burrowed in the cupboard, trying to grab my bowl and pumping my fist in the air once I succeeded. I filled it with cheerios and milk before diving straight into it, munching happily.

"I'm guessing that last night went well?" I nodded at my mom's question but continued eating, wanting to finish so I could go and see Santana. "Slow down, honey. Whatever has you hurrying can wait a bit longer. Come sit and tell me about Santana."

I whined but did what my mom told me to do and sat down next to her, finishing my bowl first before settling my attention on her. "What are you curious about?" I asked while rolling my eyes.

"Hey, you can't expect me not to be curious over someone who makes my baby girl happy." She slapped my arm playfully and I chuckled. She grew serious again and I had to gulp down some saliva when she stared intensely at me. "Do you know what her intentions are with you?"

"Wh-what are you talking about?" I blinked rapidly as a worried expression settled on my face.

"Are you sure that she's not going to end up walking all over you like-"

"Don't. Please, mom." I sighed. I really did not want to hear her name again, ever. "I don't know how things are going to go from now on but I like Santana a lot and I'm willing to give her a chance."

My mom nodded but I could see in her eyes that she still wasn't convinced. "I'm just trying to look out for you, Britt. I don't want you to get hurt again."

"I know that, mom. But please give her a chance, too." I grabbed her hand in mine and squeezed it. "For me. Please."

She bit her lip in thought and slowly nodded her head. "Alright, alright. I'll give her one chance. One!" Holding up one finger while saying so.

Squealing, I launched out of my seat and hugged her tight. Burrowing my head in her neck, I breathed in deeply and smiled at the familiar soothing scent. She always smelled so nice, it was comforting. I mumbled a thank you against her skin to which in respond she squeezed my hip and nodded.

"And you should invite her over sometime for dinner so I can get to know her better." Mom said while I released her from my hold and took a step back.

My eyes widened in shock as I let out a squeaky, "What?" Santana and I have only gone out on our first date last night, I never thought that the whole 'meet the parents-dinner' would happen so soon.

"I don't mean right now, Britt." Mom assured me and I breathed out in relief. "Sometime when you both feel is a good time." She added and nodded in my direction.

"Okay, I'll talk to Santana about it." I replied and took my seat again, grabbed my drink while my mom went back to her paper. Unconsciously I stared at the back of the paper as I thought of how to ask if I could go out so early to meet with Santana.

Mom noticed and lowered the paper, looking over the rim at me with a questioning look. "What is it?"

Slightly shocked that she had noticed my staring, I let out a breath and ran my tongue over my lips, wetting them. "Can I go to the park?"

"Sure, sweetheart. Be back on time for dinner, though." Mom smiled and nodded.

Once I had made my way over to the park, I settled down on a bench near the pond and basked in the morning sun while waiting on Santana. I had texted her that I was on my way as soon I had closed the front door behind me so she should be here anytime soon as well.

Suddenly Santana ran passed the bench that I was sitting on. A dog leash in her hand and a black little energetic puppy trailing behind her. "Santana!"

She stopped and turned around, only then noticing me sitting there. She hurried over towards me, tugging the pup along and smiled brightly. "Fancy seeing you here." She puffed out in slight exhaustion.

I laughed and bumped my shoulder against hers once she was seated next to me on the bench. "Goof. You're the one that asked me to come here."

"I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm just taking Lucy here out for a run." Santana pointed down at the little pup sitting well behavedat her feet, staring up at us with big curious eyes.

Scoffing, I stood up, "Fine. I guess I'll just go back home then." I joked.

"No no no." Santana quickly grabbed my hand, as I was about to take a step and pulled me back down. "I was joking. Don't leave, please."

I chuckled and nodded before settling back down. Wrapping my arms around her waist, I leaned my head on her shoulder and snuggled close. "You never told me you had a puppy."

"She's not mine." I quirked my eyebrow and glanced up at her in question, wondering from who the little pup was then. "She's technically Spencer's but we all take care of her."

I nodded in understanding and went back to staring at the pup. "She's so cute." I reached my hand out and scratched the pup's head gently. I got a yip and my hand licked by Lucy in response.

"Yeah, wait until you're exhausted and this little energize bunny does everything in her power to keep you awake since she wants to play. You won't be calling her cute anymore then." We both laughed at that.

We settled back into a comfortable silence, watching Lucy run around in front of us. Curiously and freely sniffing at everything. I snuggled more in Santana's side, enjoying the closeness and warmth of her body.

"Was there a reason that you asked me to come here?" I asked once I remembered her request to come here. When I didn't get an immediate reply, I looked up at her and saw her nibbling on her bottom lip, blushing furiously. "San?"

"I just… missed you." She eventually mumbled out and didn't dare to look at me.

"You're just too cute, did you know that?" I smiled brightly and cupped her face, turning it towards me as I pressed my lips against hers. The sudden kiss took Santana by surprise but it didn't take her long to kiss me back deeply. A moan slipped passed my lips at the passion behind the kiss, which made her smile in response.

When I broke the kiss, I rested my forehead against hers and dropped my hands on her shoulders. We stayed like that for a while until our attention went to Lucy who barked and smiled happily up at us.

Santana POV

We were sitting in a comfortable silence for a while. Enjoying the view of the day unravelling in front of our eyes and observing nearby people. I wrapped my arm tighter around Brittany when she shifted a tad closer to me. When I peered down to look at her, she had a small content smile on her lips as she watched Lucy run around in circles, trying to catch her own tail. I wondered about how lucky I was to have such a beautiful person as Brittany in my arms. Loving- I mean, liking me back. She could have anyone in the world but chose me over everyone else. It made me smile just thinking about it.

Which made me think back to last night when Susan said something that left me wondering deeply. I glanced down at Brittany again and decided to voice my thoughts.

"Hey Britt?"

"Mhm?" She hummed in acknowledgement.

Biting down on my bottom lip, I contemplated how to bring it up. After a minute of silence, I spoke up again. "Last night, your mom said something-"

"Oh god, she didn't embarrass me did she?" Brittany interrupted me, laughing a little as she spoke.

"No no." I shook my head even though she wasn't looking up at me. "She just mentioned someone. A girl, I think, named Ashley."

"Oh…" Brittany looked up at me, an unfamiliar look in her eyes, which left me uncertain. "Did she say anything else?"

"Just that it was nice to meet a new friend of yours. Then she said 'it's been since Ashley' but your brother stopped her before she could say anything else."

"I see." Brittany nodded and sat back up straight, putting some distance between us, making me pout at the lost contact.

"I just wondered who that girl was and if your mom was telling the truth." When Brittany looked at me in confusion, I quickly added. "About me being the only friend you've had since Ashley." She aburptly stood up and turned her back at me, her shoulders dropping slightly. "I'm sorry. Y-you don't have to answer. It was stupid of me to bring it up." I reached out and took hold of her hand gently, relieved that she didn't pull away.

Brittany didn't say anything for a while and I didn't wanted to upset her more so I just kept quiet. "C-could we maybe go somewhere a little more private?" She said it so quietly that if I hadn't been listening, I wouldn't have heard it.

"Of course. Where do you want to go?" I gently tugged on the hand that I was holding, trying to make her turn back and look at me.

Smiling softly when she did turn around, I looked questioningly at her as well as guilty. She nibbled on her bottom lip and sighed, "Can we go to your place?"

I nodded, standing up as well and tugging on Lucy's leash, pulling her along gently. Mentioning forward, I started walking and held tight on Brittany's hand as she fell into step with me.

It didn't took us long to reach my house, I opened the front door and mentioned Brittany inside. "Mom, we're back." I called out as I followed behind Brittany, along with Lucy.

"I'm in the kitchen." I heard her call back to us and started walking in the direction of the kitchen, Brittany following along.

Once we made it in the kitchen, I went over to my mom and wrapped my arms around her from behind. Giving her a kiss on the cheek before placing my chin on her shoulder. "Hey mom." I greeted her and got a kiss on my cheek in return. I smiled and hummed softly before I caught Brittany standing awkwardly on the side. "There's someone I'd like you to meet." I said to my mom and pulled away, holding a hand out for Brittany to take.

I pulled Brittany next to me and gave her a reassuring smile once I noticed that she seemed quite nervous. "Mom this is Brittany, Brittany this is my mom." I introduced them to each other.

"It's very nice to meet you, Mrs Lopez." Brittany reached forward and held out her hand for my mom to take.

"None of these Mrs stuff, just call me Maribel, sweetheart. And it's very nice to finally put a face to your name." Mom clasped Brittany's hand in hers and smiled widely.

"Uh- What do you mean?" Brittany looked at me in curiosity while I buried my head in my hands, blushing furiously. I couldn't believe mom was already about to embarrass me.

"Oh! Spencer just really likes to tease our little Santanita about you ever so often." I let out a groan of protest at my moms words and blushed even more furious behind my hands. They both looked at me with smiles on their faces when they heard the noise.

Brittany had raised her eyebrow in question while a small smirk played on her lips. "Is that so?"

Mom nodded and made things even worse by saying to Brittany, "You must stay for dinner, dear."

Brittany's eyes grew wide and she opened and closed her mouth a few times before speaking. "Oh uh, that… If that's alright with you."

"Of course it is."

"Sure, then I'll stay." Mom smiled and went of to the kitchen, probably preparing even more food now that Brittany is joining us for dinner.

Great! By the end off dinner, Brittany will know every embarrassing story about me. I sighed but admitted it was better to just get it over with. It was going to happen anyhow.

Brittany tapped me on my shoulder and I turned my head with a soft smile. "I just need to call my mom to tell her where I am, else she'll be sending a search party to look for me." Brittany said with a laugh and mentioned that she was going over to the hallway to make the call. I nodded and watched her disappear around the corner before looking down at Lucy who seemed to be smiling widely.

"Oh, you find that funny, huh?" I said while kneeling down in front of Lucy, undoing her leash. "There you go, girl." I scratched her behind her ears before she ran off. As I went to place the leash on the hallway table, I heard the last bit off conversation Brittany was having with her mom on the phone.

"-It's fine, mom. I'll take one as soon as I get back home." Brittany nodded and listened to the reply that came from the other side before saying her goodbyes. I was about to quickly skip out of the hallways so it didn't look like I was eavesdropping. But Brittany was a tad faster and had already turned around, facing me.

I coughed and let out a squeaky, "Hey." Hoping that she didn't mind that I had been listening. Even though I hadn't heard much.

Either Brittany didn't mind or she was really good at hiding her annoyance since she just smiled slightly and nodded. "Hey." She walked up towards me, biting down on her bottom lip. "Mom says it's okay if I stay for dinner but that I shouldn't stay to long afterwards."

"Okay. I'll make sure we'll get you home in time." I smiled and laced my fingers with hers when she nodded in thanks. "Shall we go up to my room? Dinner won't be ready for another few hours I think." Once Brittany shyly nodded, I pulled her upstairs, never letting go of her hand.

Brittany POV

Santana led the way upstairs towards her room, pulling me behind her by the hand. We passed a few closed doors to come to a stop at the end of the hallway, in front of what I assumed was Santana's bedroom. This would be the first time that I saw her room and I certainly was somewhat curious as to what it looked like. So once she opened the door and we stepped inside, I looked around and took in everything with big eyes.

"I'm so sorry that my mom made you stay for dinner." Santana said from her spot next to her bed after allowing me to inspect every little detail of her room.

I brought my attention back to her and shook my head. "It's nothing, San." I hadn't really thought that Maribel would invite me to stay but just like my own mom she seemed eager to get to know the one behind all the stories that Santana had shared with them. "Actually, my mom sort of told me to invite you to come eat dinner by us as well some time."

"She did?" Santana asked with wide eyes and I nodded in responds. "Oh well, tell her that I accept the invite." She added with a giggle and gestured for me to come sit down next to her on her bed. "So uhm..." Santana started but didn't end her sentence, biting down on her lip.

I knew what she was about to say or ask, though. So I sighed and gave a curd nod, "Right, Ashley."

I took a deep breath and thought back to a few years before. "Ashley was my childhood friend, we used to live right next to each other and went to the same kindergarten. So yeah, we were friends for so long, always standing up for each other and helping the other through the day. We were quite the best friends." I shook my head in bitter disappointment. "That was until the misophonia started to kick in. It wasn't as bad as it is now but I didn't know what was wrong with me and it scared me a lot."

Santana reached out for my hand and squeezed it gently, listening attentively.

"At some point it started to become more frequent and at random times my attention would suddenly be fixed on those little irritating sounds. I never knew what to do but I knew that I wanted them to stop." I fiddled with Santana's fingers as I continued to relay my memories. "Ashley had this new awesome multi colored pen. You know those who have like different pens all together?" Santana let out a tiny 'yeah' and I could see her nod in the corner of my eye.

"It was like one of the greatest pens ever. I'd always ask her if I could use the pen 'cause to my young self, it was the most genius invention made. It had like yellow and pink and this beautiful light blue, I was on cloud nine." I giggled softly and felt Santana's body shaking as she giggled as well. I sighed, my demeanor changed again as I continued. "The pen was the beginning of the end of our friendship."

Santana, who had been quiet the whole time, asked in such a small, delicate voice, "What happened?"

"One day I had a serious off day, everything had gone wrong from the moment I woke up. So when Ashley was there, sitting next to me and writing with the pen. Clicking it ever so often to change color, I had enough and lashed out. I yelled at her to stop while in reality she hadn't done anything wrong and it made her and everybody else to think that I was a freak." A lone tear rolled down my cheek and I wiped it away quickly. "I lost my best friend and on top of that, everybody tried to avoid me as best as they could. I was alone once again. I had needed my best friend to help me through the days but I scared her off." I couldn't hold back the sob that left my lips as another tear found it's way down.

Santana was quick to pull me into her embrace and I buried my face in the crook of her neck. I was grateful that she let me cry out for a bit and just held me, rocking us slightly. Once my tears had subsided, I leaned back and wiped away the tear tracks, giving her an apologetic look. "You okay?" She asked while running her thumb over my cheek.

I gave her a little nod and breathed out, leaning into the touch. "Yeah. Sorry for getting so emotional."

"No need to apologize, Britt. I understand." She smiled gently and leaned in, pressing her lips against mine for a short but very sweet kiss.

A goofy smile spread across my lips when Santana pulled back and I snuggled closer against her, wrapping my arms around her waist. "So well, now you know who Ashley is."

Santana pressed a kiss on top of my head and wrapped her arms around my body, holding me tight. "Were you never able to work things out between you two?"

I sighed. "I wanted to. But soon after the incident, her father got this amazing job offer in New York and they all moved there. So I never got to see or speak to her again."

"I'm so sorry to hear that, baby."

"I'm not." I quickly replied and Santana looked at me in surprise. "I mean, yeah it hurt that all that happened and I still get emotional when I think about it again. But the incident made me stronger and more cautious. I used to let anybody and everybody in my heart without a second guess but now I know that not everybody accepts somebody who is different. So I learned something from it and although things got lonely at times, I'm doing okay and I'm happy at where I am." I grinned and kissed Santana's jaw.

"I'm glad that you're happy." Santana smiled down at me.

I snuggled back in her hold and nodded. "I am."

We basked in each other's embrace for a while, enjoying the silence surrounding us when I remembered something she said. "Hey, San?"

"Hmm." She hummed with her lips against my temple.

"You called me 'baby' earlier." Santana froze against me and I peaked up at her, leaning back a bit so I could completely face her.

"I- I uh…" She was speechless, opening and closing her mouth several times but nothing more escaped past her lips.

I giggled and leaned forward, until my mouth was right next to her ear. "It's okay, I liked it, baby." I teased and ran my tongue over the shell of her ear in good measure.

Santana shuddered and gulped loudly, her voice raspy as she spoke. "You did?"

I leaned back and nodded with a beaming smile. "Uh-huh. Very much."

"Good." Santana laughed and pulled my back down against her, holding me tight once again. We stayed like that until Maribel called us to come down so we could eat dinner.
