As soon as the boys were unpacked, Damian went on the computer to see if they could find anything about the assassin's plan. Tim was sitting on the bed playing a game on his phone, and Dick was on his bed hugging Peanut. Jason then came out of the shower and noticed Dick on the bed.
"What's wrong Dickie?" He asked.
"I miss Bruce. He's the only one who actually liked me after Mommy and Daddy died. I…I almost trust him too." He told Jason as he sat on the bottom bunk and set Dick in his lap. "You all have been watching out for me, ever since I first met you as Robin, Red Robin, and Nightwing. Now I have to go away again."
"Dickie this isn't permanent. We're just here until the 'Old man' can locate the assassins. I know I haven't exactly been the best big brother in the world but all that's about to change. I promise you. School's almost over and we'll be able to spend the whole summer together. Just the two of us…five if you count the others."
"Who are these people? What do they want with us?"
"These people are my Grandfather's organization." Damian said coming up out of his chair and going towards the bed. "Though he isn't really a real grandfather. He and my mother's goal is for the world is for it to be in perfect balance. He thinks the best way to do it is to kill other people…I did at one point too." Damian said now looking at his knees. "It wasn't until I met father for the first time did I know that it was wrong." Dick then went over to Damian and hugged him.
"It's okay Damian. Now you fight with Bruce to stop crime."
"Thanks kiddo." He said hugging his brother. "Hey Tim, make yourself useful; what time is it?"
"Uh…it's just about 7." Tim said still playing his game.
"Thanks, you hungry kid?" Dick nodded. "Alright do you want some soup?"
"Are you sure they can't track us with your phone Tim?" Jason asked.
"We are underground. Anyway it's connected to the bat-computer that's almost impossible to hack."
"We are dealing with people who not only know who we are but have hacked into our stuff more times than I can count."
"We'll be fine." Tim said.
"If we get busted it's all your fault." Jason said.
"They can't find us right Jason?"
"Don't worry Birdy, I was just teasing Tim. There is no way they'll find us. Even if they did you got three brothers they have to go through first." A few minutes later, Damian came back with four bowls filled with potato soup. As soon as they were done Dick started to rub his eyes and let out a yawn.
"Tired kiddo?" Tim asked.
"No… (Yawn)…well maybe a little."
"You've had a long day kiddo. Let's get a quick bath and put you to bed." Jason said picking up his brother.
"Kay." Dick said.
Later that night, Dick was in his and sleeping peacefully at the bottom bunk with his arms around Peanut. "I hate this." Damian said.
"What?' Jason said lying down on the middle bunk.
"We're hiding from my Grandfather and Mother…"
"Oh please don't tell me you're thinking about going and joining the League of Assassins again." Tim interrupted from the top bunk still playing his game.
"Are you kidding me? I'll never join them willingly again. I'm just thinking…"
"So you are thinking about it!" Jason shouted.
"Shut up! Do you want to wake Birdie? We're lucky he hasn't had any nightmares yet."
"Well you better not think about joining the Assassins." Jason said jumping from the middle bunk careful not to wake his sleeping brother.
"It's not that, I'm just thinking about joining them so Grandfa…I mean Ra's can gets what he wants. I could be his heir and he would leave you guys alone."
"Are you out of your mind?!" Tim asked jumping down still not waking Dick up. "Do you know what you're saying? Ra's will do everything to get what he wants."
"Exactly. You guys will be happy with Father while I become Ra's heir."
"You're crazy. The old man will never let you do it." Jason said.
"He won't know."
"Do you know who he is!? He'll figure it out and bring you right back. We made a promise that we would watch out for each other!" Tim said nearly shouting.
"This is my way of protecting you guys."
"You're just walking right into their trap; and think of Birdie. Think how he would feel if you left. He's had to many people not care about him. You leaving might make him think that you didn't love him." Jason said.
"STOP IT! STOP IT!" Cried the little boy from the bottom bunk holding his stuffed animal tight. "Don't fight. Please don't fight." Dick cried. "Please don't fight no more." He whispered. The brothers then realized that they were so concerned about Damian's plan that they forgot about their brother.
"We're sorry kiddo." Jason said going over and putting his arms around him.
"Don't fight. I-I thought we were done fighting." Dick told Jason
"We are baby. We were just having a disagreement. Your right, we shouldn't fight." Jason said looking at Tim and Damian. "Now go back to sleep."
"Stay with me. I don't wanna be alone."
"Alright." Jason said getting comfortable and lying down with Dick in his arms. 'You better not join those assassins or I'll kill you.' He mouthed at Damian who rolled his eyes and went back the computer to work on some things. Dick then snuggled into Jason's chest and went back to sleep with Peanut in his arms. Tim meanwhile went back up to the top bunk and quit his game and read some comic books before he turned in. Damian on the other hand tried to contact his father about any progress."
"Another dead end. I can't find them anywhere." Bruce told Alfred. He had been searching all day since the boys left with no lead. Suddenly a message was brought up.
Damian: Any luck Father? Bruce gave a sigh and typed back.
B-man: I told you not to get involved in this.
Damian: It's me they're after! I deserve to be involved.
B-man: Your mission is to keep your brothers safe. Don't call here anymore. You could get traced.
Damian: You can't keep me away forever father. This is as much my business as it is yours. Bruce gave another sigh.
"He most certainly inherited his stubbornness from you." Alfred said.
"That's the problem. His job is with his brothers. The Assassins could attack any day." Batman then went back to tracking the assassins.
"No." Dick moaned later that night and was tossing and turning. "Mama." "No, Daddy it's not safe. Mommy! Don't go!"
"What?" Tim said waking up.
"Birdie?" Jason said sleepily starting to wake up.
"DADDY! MOMMY PLEASE!"
"Dickie! Wake up Birdie! It's just a nightmare." Jason said trying to wake up his little brother.
"No! Jason please don't hurt me!" That made Jason stop trying to awaken him and scooted away from him.
"Come on Dick. Wake up now." Tim said jumping down from the top bunk while Damian came over from being asleep on the computer chair came over as well. Tim took over trying to wake up his little brother. Dick then woke up gasping for a breath.
"No! Don't touch me." Dick said almost falling off the bed when he was grabbed by Tim.
"Leave me alone!" Dick shouted.
"Shhhhhhh, Dickie it's us." Tim said cupping Dick's cheek. Dick then blinked a few times and then looked at Tim and Damian. He then starts sobbing. Tim came over and took Dick in his arms while Damian started rubbing his back.
"I know it does Dickie. I know." Tim said.
"You'll see him soon."
"I want daddy."
"He's not here Dickie." Tim said while Dick cried harder.
"Shhhhhhh, go back to sleep Dickie." Damian said still rubbing his back.
"No. The nightmares will come back."
"We'll wake you if they do. Now come on; back to sleep." Tim said lying him back down. He grabbed Peanut and saw Jason leaning against the entrance.
"Jason?" Dick said.
"Go back to sleep kid." Jason said rudely and crawled up to the middle bunk.
"What? Jason no! Please! We're brothers! You said so!"
"I don't want you to be scared of me anymore. I'm sorry of everything I've put you through these last few days. I'll do anything to make you forgive me. Do you want me to go away? I'll go away forever if that's what it takes for you to forgive me." Jason said about to get on the middle bed.
"Jason no! I don't want you to go away. I want you here. We're gonna be a family soon."
"He's right Jase. We are going to be a family as soon as this is over." Tim said. Jason hesitated at first but then climbed down and scooped up his brother.
"I'm sorry baby." Jason said and started crying a little bit.
"It's okay Jason. Why were you still blaming yourself?" Jason didn't say anything. "Did I call your name during my nightmare? Did I think you were hurting me?" Jason then started crying harder. "I-I did? I'm sorry Jason."
"Shhhhhh, it's okay. How about we start fresh? Let's be real brothers." He said rocking him.
"Kay." Dick said while he started to rub his eyes. Jason then laid down with Dick again, while Damian got on the middle bunk and Tim got on the top bunk and they all fell asleep.
"Sir might I remind you that it's 3:00 in the morning."
"I have to find a lead. One break might be all it takes for Ra's to find them."
"Master Bruce nobody knows about the secret cave."
"Ra's knows everything about Batman. I just hope he doesn't know about where they are."
"As do I sir. But what are you trying to do?"
"I need to find any lead I can about what the Assassins are planning. I'm not sure there is anything I can do."
"Then I suggest you get some rest. The boys will be safe for now."
"I can't. One wrong move can cost the boys their lives. I won't lose anyone else because of criminals."
"Master Bruce you have been working nonstop to find a perfect family for Master Dick. Now you are exhausted from trying to track down Tony Zucco."
"No Alfred! If I'm not watching then it could cost those boys' lives. I can't risk that happening." He then went back to his computer.
The next afternoon Dick, Jason, and Tim where playing 'Sorry' while Damian was still working on the computer. Suddenly Damian stopped typing and listened. Being raised by Assassins, he learned to listen really hard. He heard faint running down the halls.
Uh oh, major cliffy. What will Damian do? Will the boys be captured? Find out by reviewing.
Tim: Hurry up people. Review!
Jason: Don't make me do this. (Jason hold up Dick up and shows his cute little puppy dog eyes)
