New Years Eve Special

Jonathon rans his hands gently over Clary's swollen stomach as they cuddled up on the outside day bed, looking up at the stars, the warm glow of the bonfire gently lighting up their faces.

"I finally got him down, fingers crossed he stays asleep this time." Becka said as she sats down in one of the lawn chairs, a baby monitor in her hand.

"Thanks baby." Jacob mused as he leaned over and kissed her on the cheek, taking her hand in his before leaning back in his own lawn chair.

"That is one thing I'm not looking forward to, the late nights and midnight feedings." Clary groaned as she covered Jonathon's hand with her own.

"Louis is pretty good most nights these days, I think it's just been exciting recently with Christmas and this new years eve get together." Becka informed.

"However, we'll be sure to get you guys back next year with your little …" He drawled on, waiting for them to finally fill in whether they were having a boy or girl.

"I told you, we don't know. I'm wanting it to be a surprise." Clary said but Jonathon interrupted.

"Clary doesn't know. Clary wants it to be a surprise. I know –"

"Well, then what is it?" Becka asked.

"I'll tell you guys later." He smirked as Clary just rolled her eyes and continued to look up at the sky.

"Happy New Year everybody."

It's around one am when Clary and Jonathon head home. Jonathon's arm around his wife, nuzzling into her hair as he mumbled, "I love you."

"And you're drunk."

"I'm tipsy. There's a difference."

"Sure sure." Clary mused as they headed towards the bedroom.

"Wait. Wait. I have a late Christmas present for you."

"What are you talking about? Wait – is this one of our special presents." Clary grinned mischievously as she started to unbutton Jonathon's shirt.

"No, no, that's for later. I have something I've been working on." He grinned as he led her towards the bedroom next to theirs.

"Jonathon what are you-"

"Ssh, close your eyes." He said as he covered her eyes with his hands.

Clary giggled at his playful nature. She took a few steps forward and then his hands move from her eyes and a gasp of surprise escaped her lips. Her eyes started to water as she looked around the room. The walls were a faint pinky colour, a white cot sat next to a windowsill that had pink drapes hanging from it. A fairy mobile hanging from the ceiling. To the side sat a chest of draws and changing table and to the other side was a wardrobe the same colour as the walls.

"It's a girl." Clary said with a small smile.

"I'm sorry, I knew you wanted it to be a surprise but I couldn't keep this a secret any longer, I started planning and doing up this room after I found out that we are having a daughter."

"It's beautiful." Clary hushed as she turned to her loving husband, "Thank you."

"I love you so much." He looked down at her with an eternity of love and devotion.

"I love you too, and you'll never understand the extent of it."

"I think I have a pretty good idea." He grinned.

"Do you now?"

"Yes, I do. Because it's almost as much as I love you."
