Hello! Mystic Piper here! And thankfully, I left my muse, storyteller, at home. I just basically wrote this because I'm kinda stuck in a rut with my other fic…But I won't get into that.

Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-gi-oh or Josie and the Pussycats. Poor me.

Here is my song fic version of Joey's duel with Mai.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

"So tell me Mai, what is it that you duel for?" asked Joey with his rare don't-mess-with-me game face on.

Mai smiled. "Well…"

All of a sudden, two young girls ran out of the trees, one carrying an electric guitar and the other carrying (yes carrying) a drum set. They set them down behind Mai and plugged them into an amplifier that appeared out on nowhere. After they were done, they gave the thumbs-up sign to Mai, who nodded.

The others looked on; some shocked, most with sweat drops on their heads.

"This is for all you shoppers out there," said Mai, winking at a TV camera that, yes, appeared out of thin air.

At once the band began to play a rock beat that was so lively that everyone found himself or herself tapping their feet.

"The best things in life are free,

But you can keep them for the birds and bees" sang Mai.

"Give me muh-uh-uh-un-ney,

(That's what I want)

That's what I want

(That's what I want)

That's what I wah-hah-ah-ant, yeah

(That's what I want)

That's what I want"

"This is really, really weird," yelled Tea.

"Yeah, but it's got a good beat!" shouted Tristan. Tea shook her head.

"Dueling really gives me a thrill

But dueling also pays my bills!

Give me muh-uh-uh-un-ney

(That's what I want)

That's what I want

(That's what I want)

That's what I wah-hah-ah-ant, yeah

(That's what I want)

That's what I want"

"Doesn't anyone find it strange how those mysterious girls were hiding in the forest?!" yelled Tea again, getting exasperated.

The boys just laughed and danced along with the music as the girl with the guitar jumped out front and played her solo.

"Money don't get everything it's true,

But what it don't get I can't use

Give me money!

(That's what I want)

Lots 'a money!

(That's what I want)

That's what I wah-hah-ah-ant, yeah

(That's what I want)

That's what I want"

"I give up!" screamed Tea, throwing her arms in the air. Then she started to dance.

"Give me money!

(That's what I want)

Lots 'a money!

(That's what I want)

A whole lot of money!

(That's what I want)

Just give me money!

(That's what I want)

That's what I wah-hah-ah-ant, yeah

(That's what I want)

That's what I want

Give me money!

(That's what I want)

Lots 'a money!

(That what I want)

Just give me money!

(That's what I want)

A whole mess of money!

(That's what I want)

That's what I wah-hah-ah-ant, yeah,

(That's what I want)

That's what I want" finished Mai.

"Great job, guys!" called Mai to the girls who played so well.

"No prob," said the guitarist.

"See you later," said the drummer.

"So, what didja think of that?" Mai asked, her attention on Joey.

"Is that really what you duel for?" he asked.

Mai nodded.

"Huh," he said thoughtfully. "You know, I'd usually find that pretty shallow, but your music was so good I really don't care!"

"Encore!" screamed Yugi.

Mai looked at the group. Then she looked back at Joey. "You know, I don't think they care either."

So didja like it? Hate it? Review and tell me! I'm thinkin' about writing another one, but I don't wanna bother if you don't like it!

Bettcha can't guess who the Guitarist and the drummer are!
