Chapter 19: Not Friends Just Acquaintances

Disclaimer: read chapter 1

The gang was walking through a long tunnel. Flynn was holding a lantern, so he did most of the leading; while Jack was standing beside trying to take over the leadership position. Kelsey and Rapunzel were following behind them, while Jiminy and Rapunzel's chameleon were riding on their shoulders.

Kelsey looker over at the tunnel wall and found a sword that pierced through a skeleton's rib cage. Kelsey grabbed the sword and looked at it to see that it was dusty, "This should come in handy." Kelsey lost her own sword, when Barbossa's men captured her. She sheathed the sword and continued walking with the group.

"This is so exciting!" Rapunzel thought out loud while having a huge smile on her face. Everyone glared at Rapunzel as if she said something stupid.

"What's so exciting about this?" Kelsey asked, "Being on the run with criminals, or we almost got killed by thugs?"

"BOTH!" Rapunzel exclaimed in a perky tone, "Isn't it great?!"

"It sure is, love," Jack agreed as he looked at his compass again. It still was pointing at different directions that caused Jack to growl in frustration, "Oh bugger."

Jiminy stared at Rapunzel's long hair. He didn't know how long her hair was because it was dark. He did know that it was freakishly long, "Don't you ever put your hair up?"

Rapunzel glared at Jiminy questionably, "I'm sorry?"

"Your hair. Don't you ever put it in a braid or bun? What if you trip?"

"Oh," Rapunzel laughed sheepishly, "I want to, but..."

"But what?" Kelsey asked.

"I... I don't know how to braid my hair."

Flynn and Jack stopped walking and looked at Rapunzel in shock. "You don't know how to braid your own hair?" Flynn asked.

"Well, I want to learn, but my mother never taught me how. She says she always like it when my hair is down. So... I kept it down. I guess it's stupid that I didn't learn, right?"

Kelsey shook her head, "No, I don't think it's stupid. Welcome to the club, I don't know anything about braiding either."

Rapunzel glared at Kelsey with eyes widen in shock, "You don't?!"

Kelsey shrugged, "Yeah. Braids are not my style. I normally put my hair in a bun or a ponytail. If my older sister was here, she would've given you a fishtail or any kind of braid. She's the master. The Queen of Braiding hair." Rapunzel giggled a little bit that made Kelsey smile.

"So..." Rapunzel began to make another conversation, "Where are all of you from?"

Flynn stopped his tracks and turned to Rapunzel again, "Whoa! Whoa! Sorry, Blondie, I don't do backstories. However, I am becoming very interested in yours."

"What I want to know is why your hair is really long, love?" Jack walked next to Rapunzel and ran his fingers through her blonde hair, that made Rapunzel took a step away from Jack.

"I don't want to talk about it," Rapunzel said politely, "It's kinda personal."

Jack put his arm around Rapunzel, "Why not? We're all friends here, and friends don't keep secrets from friends. Right, love?"

"I... I guess-"

"Jack," Kelsey said in annoyance, "leave her be. If she doesn't want to talk about, she's not going to talk about it."

Jack put his hands up like he was surrendering, "I'm just curious, love."

"We know," Kelsey rolled her eyes, "But you know what they say: Curiosity kills the cat... or sparrow to be exact." Jack rolled his eyes at her.

"I do have a question for you, Blondie," Flynn said, "If you want to see the lanterns so badly, why haven't you gone before?"

Rapunzel's eyes grew wide in shock about his question, "Oh! Um... uh..." She and her chameleon looked at each other, "Well..." Before she could stammer some more, a stone from top of the tunnel fell and hit Rapunzel's head, "Ow!" They looked at the rock on the floor, then noticed that the tunnel started shaking.

"Uh... guys," Jiminy said nervously, "what is going on?" Jack and Kelsey turned around and saw a bright light behind them. A few seconds later, they saw men in red running towards them. They also heard one man crying out, "FLYNN!"

Jack froze for a moment before mumbling, "Oh bugger!"

"I think it's time to go!" Kelsey cried before she started running.

"Right behind you, love!" Jack started running too, followed by Rapunzel and Flynn.

"RUN!" Flynn screamed out as he was running with Rapunzel, who was carrying her hair. They continued running through the dark, until they spotted a bright light.

"I see the exit!" Jiminy cried happily. They made it out of the tunnel, but stopped when they faced a huge cliff. Kelsey tried to stop, but she slipped instead and was about to fall out of the cliff.

Luckily, Jack grabbed Kelsey's vest and pulled her towards him. "You alright, love?"

Kelsey looked at him and realized that his arms were around her. She stared at Jack's chocolate brown eyes, while Jack stared at hers. "Um..."

"What are we going to do?!" Jiminy cried frantically, "WE'RE TRAPPED!"

Flynn looked down at the cliff and noticed a rope ladder attached to the cliff, "No, we're not. We're getting out of here!" Before Flynn could set his foot on the ladder, they looked down at the cliff and saw the twin prisoners appeared through another exit.

"Who's that?" Rapunzel asked.

"They don't like me!" Flynn answered sheepishly. The gang heard footsteps behind them, so they turned to see the palace guards.

"Who's that?"

"They don't like me either!" Then a horse appeared and stood there in front of the guards, looking at the gang angrily.

"Who's THAT?!"

Flynn turned Rapunzel around to face him, "Let's just assume for the moment that everyone in here doesn't like me!"

"I like you," Kelsey said sweetly.

Flynn looked up at Kelsey and smiled at her, "Ha! That's a first."

Jack glared at Kelsey with furrowed brows, "Oi! How come he gets the sweet act from you, and I DONT'?!"

"Because it's really hard to hate a guy, when he already has everybody ESPECIALLY A HORSE hate him."

"We got you now, Flynn!" the captain of the guards said, "You and your friends are under arrest!"

"Gentlemen," Jack began sweetly, "I'm not acquaintance with this man. We all have one thing in common. We don't like him at all-"

"Jack," Jiminy hissed at him angrily.

Jack turned to Jiminy questionably. "What?" he asked innocently.

"You all are coming with us!" the captain said, "There will be no harm and no force needed, if you three cooperate. It doesn't have to be this way."

"Three?" Kelsey asked, "There's four of us!"

"And me!" Jiminy added.

"They mean you guys," Flynn explained sadly, "They obviously want me dead."

"What's it going to be?!" the captain asked as he and his guards pulled out their swords.

"What are we going to do?" Rapunzel whispered to Flynn nervously.

Jack stared ahead as if he was considering this proposition. Suddenly, he grabbed Rapunzel's long hair and tossed it to a very high piece of wood and used her hair as a grapple.

"What are you doing?!" Rapunzel demanded as she dropped her pan and tried to pull her out of Jack's grip. She couldn't, because Jack proved that he was a lot stronger than he looked.

"Sorry, mate," Jack apologized to the captain, "but I don't go with anyone who's against piracy!" He grabbed Rapunzel's waist and jumped out of the cliff with her. Everyone stared at Jack in shock.

"Did he just left me?" Kelsey asked Jiminy and Flynn. They didn't hear her question, because their main focus was the guards and the horse walking towards them with their swords pointing at them.

"Young lady," the captain said, "I'm giving you a chance. My men and I are not going to hurt you. Just be a good girl and come with us now. It'll be easier for you."

Kelsey stood there not sure what to do. She didn't want to get into trouble more than she already was, but she had to find her sister. Kelsey couldn't waste her time with them. On the other hand, if she did cooperate, maybe they'll form a search party to find her sister.

Suddenly, she felt a pair of arms around her waist, "Whoa! What the-" Before she could see who was holding onto her, she felt herself jumped out of the cliff unwillingly. Jiminy was holding onto Kelsey's vest and started screaming along with Kelsey, who was terrified of heights. After ten seconds of screaming, Kelsey felt her feet on the ground. She whirled and faced the golden-tooth pirate.

"Hello, love," Jack said with a smirk. Kelsey instantly whacked him in the arm. Jack looked at Kelsey in shock, "Not sure I deserve that."

"I thought you were going to leave us!" Jiminy cried out.

"Will I do that?" Jack asked. Kelsey was about to answer, but Jack cut her off by placing his finger across her lips, "Don't answer that."

Kelsey hit his arm away from her, "Where's Rapunzel?" Jack's raised his eyes, looking up at the cliff. Kelsey followed his gaze and saw Rapunzel up on the other side of the cliff, tying her hair around a rock. "Oh."

Meanwhile, Flynn was alone and surrounded by guards and a horse. "I've waited a long time for this," the captain said with a smirk as he pointed his sword at Flynn. Instantly, Flynn grabbed a frying pan, Rapunzel dropped, and used it as a weapon. A sword swung towards Flynn's head. He ducked down and hit a guard's head with a frying pan. Flynn turned and whacked two more guards in the head.

The captain attempted to stab Flynn behind the back, but Flynn turned around and hit the captain's hand that was holding his sword. Then, Flynn hit the captain's head that caused the captain to fall on top of his men, lying there unconsciously.

Flynn looked at his weapon and formed the biggest smile on his face, "Whoo! I got to get me one of these things!" His victory became short when he saw a sword pointing at him by a horse's mouth. Flynn hit the horse's sword, but the horse clashed the sword against Flynn's pan. Out of all the soldiers on the cliff, the horse was the most skilled swordsman.

"Now how about we run away, darling?" Jack asked by taking her hand, "Just you and me, savvy?"

"What about me?" Jiminy demanded.

"You're too annoying, bug," Jack answered bluntly without taking his eyes off of Kelsey. Jiminy crossed his arms over his chest and turned his head away from Jack.

Kelsey and Jack stared at each other, waiting for a response. "What do you say, love?" Jack asked.

Kelsey looked up at Flynn, who was battling against the horse, "I wish we could, Jack, but we can't leave-"

Jack placed his hands on Kelsey's shoulder, then turned her head to face him, "Yes, we can, darling. We're pirates. You have to learn that there are times we have to be selfish and take advantage in situations, like today for example."

"Unlike you, Jack, I have a conscience."

"So do I. Come on, love. Do you really want to stay here and risk your life for a wanted man and a beautiful woman with very, very, very, VERY-"

"Jack, I get it. Rapunzel has freakishly long hair."

"Anyway, the bottom line is... do you want save yourself and find your sister?"

"Yes, but-"

Jack placed his fingers across her lips, "No, buts. It's every man for himself... or herself." He took Kelsey's hand and started running away from the cliff, heading toward another tunnel.

"HEY, YOU TWO!" a voice cried out.

Jack stopped himself. Kelsey wasn't paying attention to what just happened, because her focus was on Rapunzel saving Flynn, who was sadly losing a battle against a horse. Kelsey turned back around and saw the twin red-head brothers in front of them. She groaned, "Great. What else can go wrong?!"

"Gentlemen," Jack tried to talk to the twins, without getting killed, "I really don't feel like fighting at the moment, so if you would be so kind to move."

"No!" the twins snapped.

Jack groaned, "Please move."

"No!" the twin with the eye patch cried out, "We don't take kindly to strangers who are friends with Rider."

Jack furrowed his brows in confusion, "You think we're friends with him?" Jack asked by pointing at Flynn, who was fighting with the horse.

They all heard Flynn cried out, "I just want you to know that this is the STRANGEST THING I've ever DONE!"

"Yeah, why else would you two be with him?" the other twin asked.

"Look!" Kelsey stepped in between the twins and Jack, "In case, you two didn't know, we're on the run too as criminals. Normally, I stay away from people like you, but now I have no choice!" Kelsey's emotions was getting the best of her, "Okay?! I've fell through a portal, turned into a cartoon, shrunk myself, grew myself and got stuck into a house! Almost got burned inside by the way! I've been through mad hatters, a tricky cat, smelly pirates! And this guy forced me to join his crew!" Kelsey cried as she pointed at Jack accusingly.

"You owe me, love!" Jack disagreed, "I saved your life."

"SHUT UP!" Kelsey snapped at Jack angrily before turning back to the twins, who were pointing their swords at her, "Not only that, but I've been cursed by a sea witch, almost gotten eaten by sharks, threatened by UNDEAD pirates, and NOW I'M ON THE RUN WITH A WANTED PIRATE, HOPING THAT I CAN FIND MY SISTER!"

"Geez, lady, take it easy," the twin with the eye patch said.

"No, I won't take it easy! You want to know why? Because I didn't have a coke in days! I'm hungry! I'm thirsty! I'M TIRED! AND I'M SCARED! AND ALL I WANT IS TO LEAVE THIS PLACE AND FIND MY SISTER!" Tears were now falling from Kelsey's eyes. "Now is that too much to ask? I DON'T THINK SO!" Kelsey covered her eyes and continued sobbing in frustration. The twins, Jiminy, and Jack were looking at her in shock.

Jiminy glared at Jack and hit his neck with his umbrella. Jack glared at Jiminy questionably, "What was that for?" Jiminy moved his head toward Kelsey's direction. Jack groaned and carefully placed his hand on Kelsey's shoulder, "You alright, love?"

"No!" Kelsey continued having her breakdown on Jack's shoulder, "I just want to find my sister and leave!"

Jack looked at the twins, "You see what you've done, gentlemen. You've made the lady upset."

The brothers looked at each other then shrugged. "Well, she can get over it!" the guy without the eye patch snapped as they both raised their swords.

Jack groaned as he pushed Kelsey away from his arms, "Always want to do this the hard way." Jack pulled his own sword out and pointed at the brothers. "Love, you might want to run."

Kelsey and Jiminy glared at Jack in confusion, "What?!"

Jack rolled his eyes, "Did ye hear me? I said you might want to run."

"Why?" Kelsey demanded, "I'm the one with a weapon too. Didn't you train me?"

"Aye, but you're not ready, darling. You better run, while you still have the chance."

"Jack, there's two of them, and one of you! You can't take them both!"

"Of course, I can. Who am I?" Jack paused for moment, not hearing Kelsey's reply, "I'm Captain Jack Sparrow."

"So what?! You're still a human being, Jack." Kelsey said as she unsheathed her own sword, "Besides, I don't want to go in that dark cave alone."

"You got the bug, darling."

"Kelsey, I think we should go," Jiminy whispered to her.

"Not without that Jack!" Kelsey argued.

"You should've listened to your boyfriend, girly," the brother with the eye patch said.

"Aye," the other brother agreed, "cause now we're going to kill you both!"

Jack and Kelsey looked at the brothers skeptically, "Boyfriend?!" Kelsey looked at the brother with the eye patch in shock, "Did you say boyfriend?"

The brother with the eye patch nodded, "Aye."

Jack shook his head in disgust, "I'm not her boyfriend!"

"You're not?"

Kelsey and Jack shook their heads. "No! We're just..." Jack paused for a moment, thinking about what he was going to say, "What are we, darling?"

"To be honest, I'm not sure," Kelsey answered truthfully, "We're not shipmates, because we don't have a ship. We're not friends, because we're not a fan of each other. So we're... acquaintances."

Jack nodded, "Aye, just acquaintances."

"Whatever!" the brother without the eye patch cried out, "I have enough of this!"

Before the brothers could swing their swords, something knocked them down to the ground. Jack and Kelsey looked up to see Flynn flying above, while holding onto Rapunzel's hair like a vine. "HA! I gotcha! In. Your-" Flynn stopped talking when his body ran into a piece of wood.

"Ooh!" Kelsey, Jiminy, and Jack made painful expressions on their faces, thinking that Flynn must be in pain right now. They looked over at the cliff, where the horse and the guards were standing, and saw the horse kicking a piece of wood that was holding the water in the dam.

"What the heck is Maximus doing?!" Kelsey asked out loud.

Jack furrowed his brows confusedly, "Who's that, love?"

"The horse!"

Maximus kicked the wood, making a another part of the cliff, where Rapunzel was standing.

"Come on, Blondie!" Flynn cried out to Rapunzel, "JUMP!" Maximus opened his mouth to grab Rapunzel's hair, when Rapunzel made the jump. Rapunzel was in the air, and Maximus's mouth was close to Rapunzel's hair. The scene was a little dramatic and slow for the gang's liking.

"Okay, is the slow motion really necessary?!" Jiminy asked. Suddenly, they heard a couple groans behind them. Kelsey and Jack turned around and saw the twins regaining consciousness. Kelsey felt Jack grabbed her hand and pulled her towards them, running for their lives.

"Time to go, love!" Jack said in a panic voice.

"Couldn't agree more!" Kelsey agreed as they were now chased by the twins.

"GET BACK HERE!" The twin with the eye patch cried out.

Rapunzel avoid Maximus' teeth and swung her way toward Jack and Kelsey. Flynn surfed his way through the water before the pieces of wood collapsed behind him. Flynn landed on the ground and tumble rolled his way toward them. He helped Rapunzel by carrying a part of her long hair and picked up the pace.

"Don't look back, guys!" Jiminy cried with encouragement. He turned around and saw the twins chasing them and the dam that was holding the water in collapsed, flooding the area. "Really don't look back!"

The gang continued running toward the exit. The water flooded Maximus and the guards, then the twins, and it pushed a huge rock over. The gang saw a huge shadow over them, Kelsey looked up to see the huge rock falling toward them. She gasped as she picked up the pace, "We're not going to make it! We're NOT going to make it!"

"We're going to make it!" Flynn disagreed.

Just in time, Kelsey, Jiminy, Jack, Rapunzel, and Flynn made it inside. Flynn turned around and found his pan on the ground. As soon as he picked it up, the rock landed on the ground, blocking the exit. The gang looked around to see nothing but the dark and felt the cold water on their feet. They saw the water filling the cave, so they climbed up the rocks to avoid the water above their heads. It was dark and water was flooding the cave. Kelsey was panicking, because she and her acquaintances were trapped!
