Beca tucked her head into her ginger's neck, smelling the scent of sandalwood and vanilla, it was intoxicating, and her shivering body was on the verge of overload. It was now or never. She took another deep breath, and pulled her face back, to look into Chloe's eyes, then she began to speak.

"I needed you to know, that …."

SLAM..the back door to the pub opened abruptly banging into the larger gated front panel.

"ChloeBell, your presence is requested inside, there is an adoring public waiting for another tune." Paddy, a small red-headed fellow with a short beard interrupted the moment without pause.

"Ahgggh" Beca sighed loudly

"I'm sorry darling, am I'm interrupting something? He walked over to the two and began to speak to Chloe. "I'm such an arse, but your grandmother insisted I come to bring you back inside, she can't hold off the mob any longer."

Before Chloe could respond, he had grabbed ahold of each girl's arms and marched them back into the loud pub where a steady chant could be heard…"CHLOE, CHLOE, CHLOE, CHLOE."

Chloe for her part had tears of frustration building in her eyes. She had come so close to hearing Beca actual share her thoughts, it was unbearable this constant push-pull, and she believed her heart could not take one more second of the torture. This was exactly what she needed to get away from, yet now that she was so close to the young brunette, she couldn't help but feel the need to fully express herself, despite the consequences. So she steeled her emotions, and marched onto the stage passed the chanting crowd that had seemed to swell in the past hour.

For her part, Beca stood by helplessly watching Chloe walk away, feeling her heart jump in her chest. She nearly reached out to grab hold as she walked away, but then seeing Chloe reach the stage and pick up her guitar, she decided instead to sit quietly on the closest pub stool, letting herself be once again swept up in the beauty that was Chloe Beale.

"Alright you rabble, you've got me up here….now we're going to take this down a notch, cause I've got something to say in this one. Here's a little something for a little someone special…" Chloe said as she winked in Beca's direction.

Chloe began to pick the guitar slowly in a rhythmic motion….then her voice started in so clear and beautiful. Not a pin could be heard in the pub once she began to sing.

The sun is filling up the room

And I can hear you dreaming

Do you feel the way I do right now?

I wish we would just give up

Cause the best part is falling

Call it anything but love

The band started to accompany her playing, first with a little piano interlude, light drumming.

And I will make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

And how long can we keep this up, up, up?

A fiddle began to accompany her singing, and the whole song came together….

Please don't stand so close to me

I'm having trouble breathing

I'm afraid of what you'll see right now

I give you everything I am

All my broken heartbeats

Until I know you'll understand

And I will make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

And how long can we keep this up, up, up?

The lead guitarist began to harmonize with her, sounding pitch perfect.

And I keep waiting

For you to take me

You keep waiting

To save what we have

So I'll make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

And how long can we keep this up, up, up?

Make sure to keep my distance

Say, "I love you," when you're not listening

How long 'til we call this love, love, love?

It ended with just Chloe picking her guitar in perfect timing until the sound faded. The crowd erupted and Chloe just stopped and looked directly into Beca eyes, who had now started her way to the stage.

Chloe held her gaze, just standing her ground, not moving…this was her last move. She had put it all out on the table, and now she left it up to Beca to take the final steps. She didn't know if she would stay or go, but whatever happened, there would be no more middle ground for Chloe.

Beca reached the stage, never once breaking her eye contact with those beautiful blue eyes that seemed to pierce her soul. As she ascended the stage, she walked slowly to Chloe and stared directly in her eyes. Chloe again stayed quiet staring back not blinking, just waiting for what Beca would do. Beca opened her mouth, turned briefly to look at the crowd of adoring Chloe Beale Family and Friends, and held her urge long enough to grab Chloe's guitar from around her neck, and her free hand, and leave the stage in what seemed to be three giant leaps for the tiny brunette, once again out into the cold, down the street and into a deserted dimly lit walkway, far enough away from any further interruptions. She noticed how Chloe made no involuntary movements, and let Beca lead all the movement to this spot.

Beca gently laid the guitar against the moss-covered brick building, before she turned her attention back to those prying Blue eyes that were steeled, possibly searching for some response to all of what just took place.

As the two faced each other, slightly out of breath from their escape, Beca stepped close to Chloe, holding both their hands close to her chest, as it was cold outside this night, and her clothes were still a bit damp. Beca shivered as she came closer to Chloe, she felt embarrassed that her body reacted so strongly, and she knew it was more than the cold that was affecting her.

Chloe felt the frozen hands in her own and allowed herself to be pulled closer into Beca, hoping she could warm her. She had the urge to speak but willed herself to stay still, not wanting to scare off what she saw as her very last chance with possibly the love of her life.

Beca leaned closer to Chloe, pulling her into an embrace, and whispering with shivering lips against Chloe's ear…."I love you Chloe Beale, and I have from the very first moment. I want this, and I want us" She pulled back to look into the eyes that captured her heart to see them spilling over in tears.

"I've been terrified you see because I can't imagine my world without you in my life. I know that things can get complicated, you see...I'm a mess at love, I don't do it well, and I don't want to lose you, or me."

Beca blinked hard revealing so much of herself terrified her but she continued, determined..."But I can't stay away from this any longer Chloe. So if you are really sure you are ready for all that is me, then..."

"I am...I am, I always have been, I 100% AM..."Chloe interjected, blushing a bit at her outburst, but not able to contain her heart any longer.

With that, Beca smiled and leaned in, kissing Chloe soft, but sure, and without hesitation, without question. A kiss with an assurance that she would not pull away, she wanted Chloe, and this kiss was full of all the bound up emotion that left both girls hungry for this connection. Each girl savoring the feel of the other, brushing lips over tongues, feeling each other through every movement. Fireworks exploding in the back of their eyes as it continued to build.

The kisses became more and more heated, and Beca soon forgot about the cold air, her body stopped shivering from the damp clothes, as she pressed further into her ginger. Her lips stopped quivering, and all she could feel was how well they fit, how their lips seemed to melt into each other, and how the whole world seemed to snap in place. She felt the tears from Chloe's face hit her own, and she gently pushed them away with her thumbs, wiping her beautiful girl's face dry and kissing where the tears had once fallen.

When they broke from their embrace, Chloe was the first to break the silence, simply saying…"Finally".

Authors Note: I am so sorry for the long hiatus. Thanks to everyone who reached out to encourage me to continue, it was hard to find inspiration these last months. I'll do my best to keep writing if you like this chapter. Song credit to Christina Perri, "Distance" from the Album Lovestrong.
