Sakura held her breath and dove into the ocean.

She kicked her legs fiercely and sliced her arms through the salt water as she swam deeper and deeper into the deep blue. She was quickly running out of willpower, her natural instincts kicking in as she fought to keep her mouth shut. She didn't doubt that he'd show, he always did. She just hoped it was within the next 6 seconds.

A flash of gold caught her attention and she turned her head. His oceanic blue eyes were all she saw before his lips crashed against hers; he breathed air into her lungs allowing her to stay under the water with him longer.

He tasted like sea water, like always, but it didn't disgust her. They've shared many kisses and she's come to enjoy the taste of him. His hands were firm on her backside, occasionally giving her a soft squeeze. She knew he liked her ass, she would sometimes catch him staring at it in awe and curiosity, it was understandable to her though, mermaids didn't have asses they had a tail instead.

He pulled away from her abruptly and Sakura's mouth filled with water. She was completely unprepared and started choking before his hands wrapped around her ankles and pushed her upwards.

Her head broke the surface of the ocean and she gasped in much needed air. She felt him rub the sides of legs reassuringly and she looked down at his apologetic face and smiled. He grinned back.

He was beautiful. Blue eyes that rivalled the colour of the ocean, golden hair that danced around his head, sharp features and hard muscles, he was perfection. But he was an entirely different species than her, his long teal tail was proof. As was the fact that she couldn't breathe underwater, and he couldn't breathe above water. But that didn't stop their daily rendezvous'.

"I love you," She rasped and wondered if he could even hear her. He kissed the inside of her thigh and with one powerful thrust he broke the surface of the water. Sakura didn't have time to be surprised as his lips quickly claimed hers.

"I love you too," He murmured when he broke away. He receded back into the ocean once he had reached his limit, his head hovering just below the surface.

She knew that a relationship between them was impossible. But she loved him with all her heart and he loved her back. So they would both try regardless of the consequences.

As Sakura trudged back up the beach, she turned and saw his lone arm waving her goodbye before disappearing. She grinned and begun the trek back to her house.

She'd be back tomorrow.

I originally posted this on Tumblr a while back, but I decided to share it with you wonderful people. I might continue it if its requested a lot, but otherwise it will remain a oneshot.
