~Epilogue ~

Three months later

"Okay, I'll see you later man," I told Benny.

"See ya." He said.

I walked home to the Victor's Square. This is the portion of the city where the victors from District 12 and their families live in. The houses are nice, and we get a constant supply of food. There are currently four residents: Bobby, Cas, Sammy, and I. Five residents when my dad is home.

I entered my house. Sammy greeted me.

"Hi Dean," he said.

"Hey Sammy," I replied.

"I got this in the mail today. It's for you." He said as he handed me a piece of fine paper.

It was a letter from Charlie and her girlfriend. I smiled as I read through it.

"Thanks Sammy. Did you have dinner already?" I asked.

"Yeah," Sammy said. "Sorry, but I was hungry. I saved you some though."

"That's okay," I replied. "Thanks."

I got out the rice he had previously cooked, sprinkled some meat on top, and ate that.

"I think I'm going to spend the night at Castiel's. Are you okay with staying home alone?" I asked.

"Ooh you're boyfriend" Sammy teased before saying, "I'll be fine."

The community had been very accepting of Cas and I's relationship. Of course there were a few people who didn't like our relationship, but we didn't mind them.

I finished up the rice, cleaned my bowl, and put it back in the cupboard. I passed Sammy on the way to the exit of our house.

"You need to get a haircut soon," I said as I noticed how long his hair was getting.

"Okay Dean," he replied in a tone making me think he wasn't going to get his hair cut.

I left our house, and locked the door behind me.

Cas's house was directly next to ours. Once I reached his entrance I rang his doorbell. After a few moments I heard someone coming. Cas opened up the door.

"Why hello Dean." He greeted with a contagious smile.

"Hey Cas." I replied.

"Come inside." He welcomed.

I smiled at him as I entered his house. He closed the door behind me.

"Do you mind if I stay the night?" I asked.

"Of course," he replied, "May I ask why?"

"I keep having nightmares. I see Ruby's face. I see Michael falling. I keep seeing you dying." I confessed.

Cas nodded. "I have had similar dreams. I find it helpful to write down what happened. I suggest you do the same."

"Thanks for the advice Cas." I replied.

"You are very welcome Dean."

I noticed that when he had talked he shifted, revealing a portion of his forehead. You can make the shot, I thought. Taking a deep breath, I aimed at the revealed flesh, and pulled the trigger.

I saw it all. I saw Michael. I saw Cas's fear. I watched in horror as the bullet hit Cas in the head instead of Michael. Michael laughed, his face contorted. The two of them fell off; Michael being brought down by Cas's dead weight. His laughed echoed in my head.

I sat up in the bed. I was sweaty, and my mouth was dry. Sitting up had awoken Cas as well.

"What is it Dean?" He asked.

"Another nightmare." I told him as I got out of bed.

"Where are you going?" Cas asked.

"I'm going to take your advice," I told him.

I walked out to his kitchen table, got out a piece of paper and pencil, and began writing. I started from the beginning.

When I wake up, the other side of the bed is cold. My fingers stretch out, seeking Sam's warmth but finding only the rough canvas cover of the mattress. He must have had bad dreams and went to go read. Of course he did. This is the day of the reaping.
