Chapter Fourteen: Falling Hard
The rest of the night passed by rather quickly. Neither Willow or Tara wanted to talk about their painful pasts anymore. Instead they just held each other, enjoying the sensation of holding the other woman in their arms.
"Will?" Tara whispered, afraid to speak any louder for fear of breaking the spell she felt herself falling under.
"Hmm?" Willow mumbled, turning her head that was resting against Tara's shoulder so she could look at Tara as she held the blonde from behind.
"I feel like this is a dream. I'm so afraid I'm gonna wake up back in my father's house and you'll just be a very beautiful dream," Tara admitted, turning her head so she could look in the green eyes.
"If it is a dream, then I'm having the same one, and I promise you I will look everywhere for you," Willow told her, tightening her hold slightly on the blonde and kissing her softly on the lips.
"If I tell you something, will you promise not to freak out?" Tara asked, fear in her blue eyes as she stared at Willow, silently waiting for the redhead's response.
"Umm...I-I guess. H-how bad is this thing going to be that you're planning to tell me?" Willow wondered, nervously watching Tara.
"N-not bad. A-at least I-I don't th-think so."
"I won't freak," Willow promised, even as her whole body was stiff with nerves.
Tara nodded and turned in Willow's arms to look at Willow's face. "I...I think I'm f-falling in l-love with you," Tara admitted, looking into Willow's worried emerald eyes before dropping her head so she could hide behind her hair.
When silence followed her words for a few minutes, Tara felt her heart break slightly and decided to defend herself. "I-I know i-it's too soon," she said, keeping her eyes locked on the ground between them. "I...I j-just n-n-needed to t-tell you. I...I s-shouldn't h-have-"
Before Tara could complete her sentence, Willow cupped Tara's cheek and pulled the blonde in for a passionate kiss, needing nothing more than to feel the blonde's lips pressed to her own. The kiss lasted for a long while as tongues dueled for dominance and hands pulled each other closer. Unaware of how much time had passed, Willow pulled back to look into the blue eyes she had loved for so long.
"I'm falling in love with you too, Tara. I don't care if it's too soon. You're stealing my heart, and I don't care to stop you," Willow told her, brushing her fingers over Tara's cheek. "When you told me not to freak out, I thought you were going to tell me you were really straight or you were a guy or something random like that."
Tara laughed slightly at Willow's words and reached up to rest her hands over the redhead's fingers still caressing her cheek. "Sweetie, I can promise you I am most definitely not a man, and I am way to attracted to you to be straight," Tara pointed out, giving Willow her famous crooked smile.
Willow smiled back and leaned in to press her lips to Tara's once more. "Yep. Definitely stealing my heart," Willow mumbled, as she rested her forehead against Tara's.
Tara smiled brighter at Willow's words and cupped the redhead's cheeks in her hands. "You, Ms Rosenberg, are a flirt," Tara told her, before brushing their lips together once again and standing up. "We should get going. It's late."
Willow nodded in agreement and stood as well, wrapping her arms around Tara's waist. "Can I walk you back to your hotel?" Willow asked, pulling Tara closer.
"I'm not staying in a hotel. I'm staying with my mom while I'm home," Tara said, smiling at Willow. "But you can walk me to my Mom's house."
"Hmm...do I still get to kiss you goodnight?" Willow wondered, smiling back at the blonde.
"On?" Willow asked, tilting her head at Tara's words.
"If my mom is standing outside or watching out the window."
"Ah, good point. Maybe I should just get my goodnight kiss now then?" Willow said, tightening her hold on Tara's waist.
"Maybe. Just to be safe and all," Tara agreed, smiling as she leaned in closer to Willow and waited as the redhead closed the distance moments later.
The kiss was soft and gentle, a mere brushing of lips that quickly became more passionate when tongues requested entrance and hands began to explore. Both women moaned into one another's mouths as their bodies molded together.
"Tara?" Willow whispered, pulling her lips from the blonde's to place kissing on Tara's neck.
"I want you," Willow admitted, nipping at the base of Tara's neck to show the truth behind her words.
"I know," Tara replied, breathless from the kiss and Willow's touch. "But not here. Not right now."
"I know," Willow agreed, forcing herself to back away from the blonde. "We should leave. I'm sure your mom is worried."
Tara nodded in response to Willow's words as she tried to calm her pounding heart. Without saying a word she slipped her hand into Willow's and started walking into the direction of the house her mother had bought when she first came to Sunnydale.
The walk from the beach to Tara's house was short and Willow felt a sense of sadness fill her as they walked the last few steps up to the door and Willow looked into Tara's blue eyes. "So I'll see you tomorrow?" Willow asked, giving Tara a nervous smile as she pulled the blonde's hand up to her lips.
"I'll see you tomorrow. Do I get a kiss goodnight? My mother isn't watching," Tara pointed out, smirking at Willow.
"I thought you'd never ask," Willow said, using Tara's hand that was still in her own to pull Tara closer and kiss the blonde with enough passion to make the blonde's toes curl and a soft moan escape her lips. After a few minutes of kissing, Willow pulled back to look into Tara's blue eyes with an amused smile on her face.
"You're a tease," Tara whispered, breathless from the kiss they had just shared.
"Good night, Tara."
"Good night, Willow."
