HERE IS THE CHAPTER SO FAR:
Krestleflight was getting better everyday. His cough wasn't as bad as it used to be. He was strong enough to leave camp, but Mintpaw still wouldn't allow him out of the den. Soon he was well enough to go to the half moon gathering with the other medicine cats.
They waited until sunhigh to leave. Mintpaw became more antsy with every second. By the time they made it to the ThunderClan border, stars were appearing in the darkening sky.
"Hello again Leafpool, Goldenpaw," Krestleflight greeted the ThunderClan she-cats.
"Krestleflight, I'm glad to see you looking well," Leafpool responded quietly.
Mintpaw looked at Goldenpaw, who seemed deep in thought. She's so pretty, he sighed inwardly.
Her golden fur stood out in the harsh, white snow, and her amber eyes shone yellow in the light of the rising moon. She was so small that the sheet of ice covering the snow didn't break under her delicate paws.
"Has Blossomfall returned yet?"
Krestleflight's question shook Mintpaw out of his daze.
"Yes, she has, with three kittypets who have decided to join ThunderClan; Dawnflower, Softclaw, and Patchedpelt. She has three little kits; Auburnkit and Fallenkit are both she-kits, and Pinekit is the tom," Leafpool replied. "Littlecloud, Willowshine! It's good to see you again."
Krestlefight had clearly saved Mintpaw from a very embarrassing moment in front of Willowshine, Littlecloud, and a very small black she-cat with a white tipped ear and tail, and white belly.
"Who is that little one?" Leafpool asked.
The small she-cat slipped on the ice and eventually ended up hopping behind Littlecloud in his paw steps. Literally.
"This is my apprentice, Darkpaw," Littlecloud rasped.
She was still struggling with following behind. Her sleek fur glistened in the moonlight, and her amber eyes were full of concentration as she prepared to make a big leap to land next to her mentor.
She sprang, her paws slipped on the ice again, and she did a face-plant into the icy ground. Littlecloud chuckled at how her fur immediately fluffed up and there was a small, muffled yelp from within the ice.
"Are you alright there Darkpaw," Littlecloud asked her after she got her head out of the ground. "I've heard the expression "head in the clouds," but I've never heard "head in the ground."
"It's not that funny, it's freezing!" She gave an annoyed bounce as she squeaked.
"Hello, Darkpaw. I'm Goldenpaw," Goldenpaw introduced herself.
"And I'm Mintpaw," Mintpaw added.
"It's nice to meet you," Darkpaw dipped her head.
"Let's start for the Moonpool before we freeze to death," Willowshine grumbled as the wind picked up.
The group of seven cats walked swiftly. The older cats in the front, the younger cats in the back. Darkpaw was having a hard time keeping up with the others, so Goldenpaw and Mintpaw fell back as to not leave the small cat behind.
"So do you have any littermates, Darkpaw?" Goldenpaw asked.
"Just one... My brother's name... is Turtlepaw, he's training to be... a warrior, Cedarheart... is his mentor," she said through large gasps.
"Are we there... yet?" She panted.
"Almost," Goldenpaw giggled.
It had been so long since Mintpaw had heard it. It was just as beautiful as always. She didn't laugh as much as she used to. Or at all really.
"We're here," Leafpool called back from her spot next to Littlecloud.
"Finally!" Darkpaw wheezed.
"We'll have to be careful going down. There's ice on the path," Krestleflight informed.
Mintpaw and Goldenpaw giggled as Darkpaw moaned. They carefully guided the tiny cat to the pool. They slipped and slid on the frosted over path.
