It had been a week, since Clementine arrived at the cabin. She'd been sharing a room with Sarah, and she was quite fond of the girl. Sharing a room wasn't that much of a hindrance as it was an enjoyment. The remaining group members will still warming up to her though, having trust issues and what not, but Clementine didn't mind. After all, it was the zombie apocalypse, who wouldn't be distrustful in a time like this? When people were dying and killing and eating each other. Clementine like this group though, they seemed like they were very close to one another, a family almost, and it reminded her of the days at the motor inn, when times seemed okay enough to where to could determine if you would live another day or not...
She liked Luke, he seemed to be the leader of this small group, and he was the nicest to her when she got here, even though he dropped her on the ground. She liked Alvin, he was nice to her too, albeit he seemed like he was afraid of his wife most of the time. She liked Pete, when he was alive, he seemed like he knew what he was doing out here. And she liked Sarah, who was just an innocent soul, stuck out here in this apocalypse. The others though, Nick, Rebecca, and Carlos... They seemed very distrustful of Clementine, especially Nick, who had attempted to shoot her.
Currently, Clem and Sarah were laying in the bed that they shared. It was a full sized bed, so both girls had equally enough room. "Are you awake Clementine?" Sarah asked, pulling the younger girl out of her thoughts. She turned over to look at Sarah, who was laying on her back.
"I am." Clementine replied.
"What are you thinking about?" Sarah asked.
"Life." Clem answered simply.
"I just can't sleep." Sarah said in reply.
"I know, I can't really sleep half the time either." Clem agreed. "Maybe if we talk, we'll make ourselves tired." She suggested with a light shrug. After all, it couldn't hurt, could it?
"Okay." Sarah nodded, and she and Clementine began engaging in some small talk and conversation. They talked about anything really, anything to take their minds off the current situation of the world they were living in. Some of the comments ended up in fits of giggles, but the girls didn't care. They were restless and bored, and they wanted to keep themselves occupied.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door, "Girls?" It was Carlos' voice on the other side of the door. He opened up the door slowly, and peeked his head in. "Everything okay?" He then asked, walking in the room.
"We can't sleep." Sarah answered.
"Me either." Carlos replied.
"Can you tell me and Clem a bedtime story?" Sarah begged as she sat up in bed. "Please dad, please?" She asked, giving her dad those dark doe eyes. At this, Clementine had to stifle a laugh. Sarah had Carlos wrapped around her finger, and he would do anything for her. But deep down, Clem missed the bedtime stories her mom and dad, and even Lee used to tell her. It had been so long since she had heard one, so she secretly wished Carlos would say yes.
"What kind of bedtime story?" Carlos asked as he moved and sat down at the edge of the bed.
"A happy one." Sarah said in contentment.
"Okay, that'll be easy." He said as he climbed up in the bed between the two girls. He then wrapped one of his arms around his daughter's shoulders, then looked down at Clementine. "Do you mind?" He asked as he raised his other arm and was about to wrap it around Clem's shoulders. She shook her head no, and then felt Carlos' arm on her shoulder, almost embracing her. She closed her eyes to revel in the moment, and in her head, she could have swore it was Lee. Carlos really did care about her, and that made her heart swell. "It was a sunny day..." Carlos started out, and continued the bedtime story.
