Janet Martini de La Ley This is how every forum starts off; with the characters. So here we go...
Who's your most favorite character(s) and why?
I like Daria and Jane because they don't care about what other people think and they speak their mind.
Now, who's your least favorite character(s) and why?
I don't like Jake (Daria's dad) because he's a whimp; he doesn't stand up for himself. 3/14/2006 #1 |
country beautiful my faves:
I like Daria the best... she just fits me so well! I also like Jane... shes like my best friend.
the least:
probably Jake because he is so mean towards others and towards Trent (who by the way is a BABE!) 3/18/2006 . Edited 3/18/2006 #2 |
tenouharuka101 i like Trent... he was my first animated crush ever
i don't like the fashion club... they are just so shallow 3/25/2006 #3 |
Swimming Poole I love everyone on Daria, they are all so fun to watch. All those lovable characters are part of the reason of why I want MTV to create a dvd set for Daria. 4/13/2006 #4 |
Byproduct of Evil My favourite chatacters are Daria and Jane because with them and their veiw point on the world around them the show would just be another show with nothing to offer veiwers beyond maybe a feeble storyline and possibly a few cheap laughs.
My least favourite character is probably Mr O'Neill, I find he is easily the most annoying. 12/21/2006 #5 |
RedRogue Trent is the boss. I don't know why they went off on that 'Tom' bit (anyone else think that was uncalled for?) but Trent definitely made that show for me. Daria is also hilarious, as is Jane.
Least favorite? I'd have to go with that woman teacher (forgot her name) that hated all men because her husband left her. Her voice made me cringe.
PS. Daria in its entirety can now be owned on DVD. Look it up on Amazon or eBay. 2/14/2007 #6 |
Swimming Poole The name of the man-hating female teacher is Mrs. Barch. I remember her line from 'Murder She Snored':"I'm glad that Kevin is dead,I wish ALL males were dead!" Boy,she was a B***!! As for the entire series being on dvd,are you sure this isn't some sort of BOOTLEG thing? If I wanted to see the entire series,I'd just wait until they finally decide to release it on an OFFICIAL dvd set. P.S.,I have "Is It Fall Yet" on dvd. 2/15/2007 #7 |
RedRogue Hey, thanks for the name of that teacher! It's been a while since I've seen the series, but I loved it (all except for Mrs Barch, of course! lol). And to answer your question, no, it is not some bootleg copy, but its the official one. I've looked into it for ordering it for myself. I'm not sure if it is actually released yet or not, since I didn't check, but it is on order. Officially.
Signed,

Philipa Aleshre My favorite character in the whole show is Daria. She changed my life, and turned a 12 year old girl into what I am now. She's so intelligent, sarcastic, tormented, confused and insecure... such a teen to look up at!
My less favorite one? Whoa, that's hard. I don't think I can hate a single character, because I loved the show so much and everything on it. It's like when you love somebody: you know him/her have good things but flaws too, but you love him/her so much that you don't care and you accept how he/she is. All the characters provide good and funny aspects to the show, and I can't think I can hate any of them. I've obviously gotten mad with some of them at some point, but it's needed for the plot and development of characters.
One thing I didn't like about the show was how much the writers suddenly changed Trent. He was kind of close to Daria and then it all fade away.
Well... those are other opinions *teehee.

:) now i wanna be like sabertooth from xmen XD (kidding) 6/23/2007 #10 |
slowlygoinginsane My favorite characters are Mr. DeMartino Daria And Jane. I dislike Tom and Mr O'Neil. Tom just got on my nerves, and Mr O'Neil is just to sensitive and annoying. 9/24/2008 #11 |
Ruby Blue Prime Man, picking a favourite character from that lot is going to be hard, so here's a list; Daria and Jane and everyone's said the reasons. Jodie because no mater how busy she gets, she has time for the people around her. Jake because he deals with an overbearing workaholic wife, a completely shallow, self absorbed daughter and the stress of being a business owner yet still manages to keep a smile... well, most of the time. The list goes on, a lot of them only because I like quirky people. Least favourite. Much easier. Tom *forms a warding sign with index fingers*. Hate the guy. He's an unfaithful, dishonest, needy, condescending, attention w***, elitist prick who turned the show into a soap opera and very nearly tore Daria and Jane apart. Tank you. Tank you very much for listening to my rant. 10/26/2008 #12 |
Farren O'Blivion When was Jake ever mean to Trent? Or anybody? 11/20/2008 #13 |
Mystere's Bromide Well, Jake could be extremely overprotective/oblivious ("It's that guy Knuckles! I tell you, he's messing with her head!"), and he did tend to kind of forget about other people around him when he started going on his (nevertheless amusing) rants about his childhood. I guess that could be seen as meanness. Anyway, favorites? Daria (for her dry humor and her intelligence), Jane (the same, although I also liked that she could muster up enthusiasm... she's like the halfway point between Daria and Jodie, really. All are intelligent, with Daria being the least sociable, Jodie being the most sociable, and Jane falling somewhere in the middle), Jodie (same reason mentioned before), Quinn (once she started to show there was more to her than she initially let even herself know), Trent (he's pretty sweet and laid-back. Plus, for a cartoon, he's hot. Too bad he's such a slacker), and Helen (she's strong, she's a MILF, and she can get through to Daria). Also, I like Brittany - she's a moron (although she has her moments of intelligence - anyone remember The Daria Hunter?), she's shallow, but aside from some moments where her stupidity and shallowness override logic and reason, she seems to be genuinely nice to Daria. I always liked that about her. Least-favorites... Kevin (he's funny, but he's dumb as a sack of rocks), Sandi (conniving brat), Linda (same as Sandi), Tiffany (funny, but again, there's nothing upstairs), Tommy Sherman (thank god he was just a one-time character), and Ms. Li (she cracks me up - especially the way she always goes "Llllawndale High" - but seriously, the woman's a damn dictator). Ms. Barch's rampant misandry can be really annoying, but sometimes it's hilarious enough that I have to like her. 1/12/2009 #14 |
Kairan1979 My favorite character? Of course, Daria and Jane, the incredible dynamic duo. Daria and Jane are as inseparable in my mind as Woodward and Bernstein. Trent, Jane's brother, isvery interesting character too. I think he understands Daria much better than Tom, even without really trying. Kevin and Britney are just a pair of comic characters. Daria and Jane' witty remarks looks much better with these two morons-in-love around. And Daria's aunt, I forgot her name, is interesting too. Least-favorites? All the fashion club, including Queen. 3/13/2009 #15 |
LadyIcarusXXI I can't choose. Frankly, I like all of the main characters, (Yes, even the teachers.) They've all got their own sense of personality to them. Well, except Sandy, a.k.a. "Head B*** Of The Fashion Club". She reminded me way too much of somebody I knew in High School. 10/5/2011 #16 |
LadyIcarusXXI And, probably, Daria's other aunt. Not Amy (the one that Daria looks like) but the other one. 10/5/2011 #17 |
Kairan1979 You mean Rita? 11/15/2011 #18 |
whitebunny1063 My favorite characters from the show is Daria and Jane not to mention Trent, Mack, Jodie, Aunt Amy, and Upchuck My least favorites charcters is Tom, The teachers, Daria's parents, and the Fashion club 12/24/2011 #19 |
FanFicophile My Favourite Character: Who?: Mr. DeMartino (Anthony) Why?: Because he's the sex. I love the way he talks, I could lay in bed and listen to him talk all night - No, I'm not being sarcastic. His unstable personality attracts me. His crazy evil laugh is adorable. I'm seriously annoyed that I can't find any 'mature' FanFics starring him, but I'm too shy at this point to write my own. My Least Favourite Character: Who?: Ms. Li (Angela) Why?: Because she's horrible. She's not only a nasty character but also so very boring... Every time she starts talking it annoys me, and I can't wait for her to leave. 2/15/2012 #20 |
Kairan1979 I'm sure I saw fanfic on Outpost Daria with mature DeMartino/Barch fic. 2/24/2012 #21 |
Ukaneful I like Daria and Jane because there both smart and they both stand out from their school. There fellow outcasts and they don't take ignorant crap from anybody. Individually Daria: I can relate to her because mostly she's misunderstood. No one understands her because people can't understand why she would rather read books than cheer-lead or go to special school events. The truth is Daria is just not a people person outside of Jane or other students that might match her intellect. She's cynical, sarcastic and unmotivated, which I love about her. She and I have the same facial expression and the same monotone of voice. I can understand how she feels about stupidity and the world around her, which I know so well. Also her inability to show certain emotions in unexpected circumstances. I also like to write like she does but don't let people view my work. She reminds me a lot of Darlene from Roseanne. Jane: I like her because she's very artistic like me and shares most of the views that I do. She and I also have parents who are absent in our lives and are busy with there work (well my mom that is). Our strongest characteristic is our artistic talent and that we both strive to not be in the mainstream. She's also a great friend, which I think is another good thing, because whenever someone comes to me for advice or just to talk I would accept who how they were but not tell any of their secrets. Quinn: There's not too much I can say that i really like about her but I do know that she's smarter than she lets on and is not as vain and shallow as her friends are. Trent: I just think he's really cool. The way he dresses and the way his lifestyle is. He's laid back like me and is also a bit of a slacker. He's also in a band and plays the guitar. Im currently learning how to compose music myself. Andrea: That goth chick from the show. Her dark personality and poetry is what reels me in. Mr. Anthony Demartino: The History teacher. I like him because he seems the most real that would work at a highschool facility. His angry outbursts at the nitwits Kevin and Brittany crack me up. Amy Barksdale: Helen's youngest sister. She seems the most level headed in her family. I like her because she reminds me a lot of Daria and she loves books and has a sarcastic sense of humor. 7/15/2012 #22 |
RubinaLadybug I finished watching the series plus the two TV movies, and I absolutely loved it! Favorites Daria Morgandorffer: The same as everyone else. She's an intelligent, sarcastic outcast who would rather read books and watch TV than attend a school dance. She's not afraid to unleash her misanthropic views on others. While she does have a strict code, and at times has broken that code, she follows it despite society's opinions. She was highly antisocial but over the series had learned to live her life outside her bedroom. She's a very unique and memorable character. Jane Lane: She's a great friend to Daria. She's pretty well adjusted considering her home life. Even though she shares Daria's cynical ideas, she expresses her own enthusiasm for hobbies and socializing. She's also an awesome artist. Mr. Anthony DeMartino: An angry man who is justified in his anger. He's an overworked teacher who must bear through dolts like Kevin, grovel under the dictator Ms. Li and her grim stipulations, and had been hinted at to have had a rough life. "Luck Strike" is one of my favorite episodes because we see him unwilling to back down after everything Ms. Li had done to her staff. Despite his horrific life events, he at least genuinely wants to teach. I can respect that. I actually wouldn't mind being a student in his class. Trent Lane: He is one cool, laid back cartoon character. I'm glad that he and Jane have a supporting sibling relationship and that he was a good friend to Daria. His voice actor made his singing come to life. He may be a slacker, but he delivered terrific lines throughout the series. Jake Morgandorffer: He had a harsh childhood and can be a flake, but he is his own boss, married to a person he loves, and tries to be there for his daughters. I like the episode "Of Human Bonding" because we got to see a deeper connection between him and Daria. It's good to see him happy when the writers allow him to be. Mr. Timothy O'Neil: I know a lot of people dislike him for his incompetence as a teacher; I see it too. But I found him entertaining. Yes, he does try to make himself more important in his students' lives, but he at least has good intentions as a teacher. "The F Word" episode for example shows that he wants to teach his students important lessons outside academic work. I can appreciate that idea. Least Favorites Ms. Angela Li: Tyrant. She's one example of why schools are corrupted. She sees herself as an absolute ruler while she disrespects many students and even the teachers. I may loath the episode "Fizz Ed", but it was satisfying to see her taken away on a stretcher. If only she lost her job after that. The Fashion Club: Too dull and self-absorbed for my liking. Tom Sloan: Dull and bland!Clearly he only existed for the boyfriend role, and I hated how he cheated on Jane with Daria (but let's not excuse Daria for her end of the action). Sometimes he came off as that rich kid who hated/denied being a rich kid despite enjoying all its perks. One positive characteristic I will give him is his dry wit; I had honestly laughed at them. 8/19/2016 #23 |
