Welcome to another one of those crazily long writing challenges from Remi. :D This one will really test your diversity, but to be kind I'll have the same sort of options as the mega-prompts challenge...and the same prizes. On this note though, while I have no problem in you combining with any other challenge, you are not allowed to combine with the mega-prompts challenge no matter where it's hosted (so no going for the specific ones to combine with, because I'll know :D). You will also notice prompts are, especially in the middle, repeated for several different sections: the reason is the word count restrictions. This is meant to challenge you after all - and it will be challenging. :D But that's what makes it fun, and good practise.

A recommendation: if you're not sure you'll meet the word count restrictions, try pre-writing first. That gives you more room to edit word counts or change prompts than posting it directly onto fanfiction. Because once you tell me what prompt it is, that can't be changed. It'll be your job to make it fit the requirements.

Level

  • I'm Gonna Do this my Way: do whatever you want so you don't have to follow these slightly complicated rules too. :D But at the same time, you won't be eligable for prizes.
  • Baby Steps: 5 x fics for each of section A, B and D , 3 x fics for sections C, E, F, G and H , 2 x fics from sections I and J , 1 x fics for sections K and M
  • Easy: 20 x fics for each of section A, B and D , 12 x fics for sections C, E, F, G and H , 4 x fics from sections I and J , 2 x fics from sections K and M, 1 x fics for section L
  • Medium: 40 x fics for each of section A, B and D , 25 x fics for sections C, E, F, G and H , 10 x fics from sections I and J , 8 x fics from sections K and M, 4 x fics for section L
  • Hard: 75 x fics for each of section A, B and D , 50 x fics for sections C, E, F, G and H , 25 x fics from sections I and J , 15 x fics from sections K and M, 10 x fics for section L
  • Supernova: everything. :D Which is 100 x fics for each of section A, B and D , 60 x fics for sections C, E, F, G, H and I, 40 x fics from sections J and K, 20 x fics for sections L and M

Rules

  • no prewrittens
  • you're not allowed to combine prompts, even if they are for separate categories, within this challenge. Combining for other challenges is allowed except with the Mega-prompts challenge
  • you'll notice that the prompts are categorised by word count ranges. Please stick to those ranges, and please try rotate through them. So by the time you get to your first prize, you must have written a certain number fics in each category. Otherwise you won't get a prize if you've finished the 0-500 words category but written nothing for the 50k plus one. The exact numbers will be in the hurdle prize list
  • if you write for more than 5 a/m fandoms, you can't use the same fandoms for two fics in a row. Variation again. :D Post with whatever fandom your fic is in when you post your link.
  • you can do the prompts out of order.
  • post with the number and section your prompt was in. I don't need what the prompt actually was, just where it can be found. :) Don't worry about keeping track of what you've done; if you give me that information, I can make it nice and neat in your custom-made post. :D Remi likes nice and neat things.
  • you can move up levels but not down, unless you did the "I'm Gonna Do it My Way" level - that one stands on its own. That one also doesn't apply for the hurdle prizes for the same reason (it's a lot more challenging when you have a set number from each section of prompts)
  • when posting, please also mention any warning-related material and M-rated fics (if you do the super-nova, you'll have a lot of former and at least one of the latter:D)
  • for section L, you become eligible for a prize once your fic exceeds the required 100k. So if it's climbing past one million, you don't need to finish all that to get your well deserved prize. :D
  • all word counts are taken from MS word or equivalent, not fanfiction's word counts. And they do not include headings, dividers or authors notes.

Hurdle Prizes (since this is a huge commitment :D)

Okay, list is done and dusted! A good number of those prompts are repeated, just for different word count ranges. That's done on purpose. If there are two in the same word count range (ie. the same section) that are exactly the same...then that's my mistake and please let me know ♥

As for me, I'm signing up for super-nova because I might as well drown myself in these. And if I signed up for anything less, at one point I'd up it to super-nova anyway...

Also, same as the mega-prompts challenge (I didn't realise I never edited the main rules, lol)

If you have a fandom you want to try the prompts for separately to the mixing with the ordinary challenge, you can do that alongside this with a new status list. :D Same prompts, but you repick the level and this time stick to the one fandom (or group of fandoms, eg. CLAMP, Key) instead of the compulsory switching between fandoms. :) Because not all the anime/manga have their own challenge forums...

And for me it's Shion no Ou (a new love), Hikaru no Go (because I'll use all my larger fics for that otherwise), CLAMP (they're fighting with Hikaru no Go) and Key (because I'm loving each one I watch and it's getting a little endless...) Supernova for all of them because I hate picking and choosing (and I'm the one who made the prompts, hehe).

And who cares if the mega list of doom grows a little more, right? Because I'm almost done with a few other challenges, so that helps things. :D

I'm sorry, I'm confused. So we can only do one fandom for this challenge? And we have to do it multiple times if we want to do it for more than one fandom?

8/3/2014 #23
reminiscent-afterthought

No, you can do with any number of fandoms, but if you wanted to try with just one fandom, you can try that as well. Just opening up the options. So if you want to try more than one fandom, you can still do what you were doing initially. This is more for if you were planning on using a lot of the prompts for one fandom, but wanted to use those prompts for other fandoms as well.

Okay, I'm sorry, I got a bit confused for a moment. I blame it on this three-shot as it started out as a Pokemon drabble but grew into a HP/OP crossover three shot just over 10,000 words. So here is my first story for this challenge, I hope its alright. Can we combine this challenge with your Pokemon version one?

For Section I - Number 6 - Threeshot here is my story, A Pirate King's Inspiration, Part One, Part Two and Part Three. - Warnings: Character Death, Angst, Dry Humor, Ghosts, mentions of death....errr maybe a few more but I'm not sure, this threeshot has gotten away from me big time. - Word count: 10,254.

For Section B - Number 11 - Outside Visitors - Word Count: 780.

Section D - Number 32 - Dragon and Wolf Brothers

Section B - Number 54 - Lost Friends

Section A - Number 53 - Musing on the Past - Word Count: 250.

Section A - Number 5 - Seto Kiba - Word Count: 49.

Section A - Number 1 - Standing Together

Section A - Number 6 - Komari Kamikita

Section A - Number 55 - Introductions - Word Count: 414.

Section A - Number 61 - Young Friendship

For the play, like the one in section B write a play with one scene, could I write about it from the audience's POV or would I need to write it? I'm just wondering how to get around it because of the script not being allowed.

I'm just wondering how to get around it because of the script not being allowed.

It's one of those funny bits of rules. fictionpress has the exact same rules, but they have a section for plays, so apparently it's the fine difference between scripts and plays that make plays allowed and not scripts. But if you don't want to risk that, you can post somewhere else and just link, but yes, it has to be an actual play and not from the audience's POV.

A1 - You Only Get So Much Time to Aim (Baby Steps)

A7 - The Dream Giving Doll (Dream Vendor)

A3 - Going Monochrome (Colourful)

A2 - Fake Face, Real Voice (Charisma Doll)

A5 - A Sticker for the Rules (Nine Puzzle)

And not one of those fandoms have their own category. :( But now that I know ffn's back, I can get to work on changing that little issue.
