PLOT OVERVIEW AKA WHERE WE CURRENTLY STAND. KELPY, ADJUST THIS AS YOU SEE FIT.
WARRIOR DRAGON KISARA IS ON A QUEST TO DESTROY ZORC. SHE WAS SENT BY THE ELDER COUNCIL OF THE UNIVERSE - WHICH CONSISTS OF TIMAEUS, CRITIAS, AND HERMOS. ON HER WAY SHE MEETS KAIBA DRAGON WHO IS ROMANCING IT UP WITH ZORC'S YOUNGER TWIN LEVIATHAN. THREESOME ENSUES.
BUT THE EVIL DOESN'T SLEEP AND IN THE EAST THERE IS RISING AN EVIL UNICORN COUNCIL LED BY BAKURA, IN ALL HIS ONE-HORNED GLORY. HE HAS ENTERED A CONTRACT WITH THE DARK LORD DIABOUND (WHO IS ZORC AND LEVIATHAN'S OFTEN OVERLOOKED BABY BROTHER) AND HIS LADY DARK NECROFEAR WHO, COLLECTIVELY, ARE REFERRED TO AS DARKNESS THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED. (SOMETIMES PEOPLE CONFUSE THEM FOR VOLDEMORT. THIS IS UNAPPRECIATED AND EVIL SHENANIGANS ENSUE AS A RESULT.)
THE PLOT TWIST? YALIK IS THE WINGED DRAGON OF RA. HE WAS BORN OF A FALLING ASTEROID AND LONGS TO RETURN TO OUTER SPACE AND THE STARS WHERE HE BELONGS. MUST DESTROY EARTH TO DO SO.

"Oh, move aside, will you? Honestly, who lets these filthy furballs in here?" Raphael stalked into the clearing where the grand storytelling was taking place, swatting Mokuba aside with one elegant cape-swish. He cast an annoyed look around. "Any of you brats know the way to the blind witch of the woods? We've got a few questions to ask her."
Amelda, his silent shadow, had remained at the edge of the clearing where the firelight couldn't quite reach. There was just something too tempting about the way the flames flickered and he didn't want to... Well, he just didn't want to.
"Guess that's a no," Raphael grunted and turned to leave. "Let's go. These brats are a waste of time."
These vampires didn't know a thing about stealth. (At least they didn't sparkle. Well, they might, a little, in sunlight. Before combusting spontaneously.)
Meanwhile, in another part of the world...12/14/2011 . Edited 12/14/2011 #7
Across the kingdom, where man once dared not to tread, where the winds are high and keen, and the land is radiant with life, was the dwelling of the Elder Council: Timaeus, Critias and Hermos, whose wise and beneficent rule had earned their clan the name of High Dragons. They had lived these many millennia tending to the troubles of their warlike people. Alas, some families had quarreled such that they could never again live in peace with their neighbors, and the dominion of the High Dragons grew smaller, their ties fractured and their traditions erased from memory.
As clan after clan broke away from the Council and created their own dominions, the High Dragons weakened. What was left now was a mere shell of what it had been. They had been forced to abandon their peaceful ways and align themselves with the Warrior clan of the White Dragons and so had been left in relative safety, forever condemned to wishing for the past that they had lost to anger and greed.
They were all but forgotten by their race, but stories still echoed their once-great wisdom.
As she approached the Magnificent Cave of Illusions, Kisara of the White Dragon clan remembered the strength and nobility of these Elders, and in her heart was the desperate hope that maybe, just maybe, they would be able to use their wisdom once again to save their people.12/14/2011 . But first, she had to pass the Three Tests. To bypass the Giant Cyclops who guarded the first chamber of the Magnificent Cave of Illusions, to find the door in the center of the sentient Maze in the second chamber, and to feel the pea beneath one hundred mattresses.
Said Tests were said to be near impossible to pass; no one dragon could ever hope to not only be cunning enough to bypass the Cyclops but to also be clever enough to trick their way to the center of the Maze and have scales soft enough to feel the tiny pea under so many beds!
But Kisara was sure that she could pass the Tests. If not honestly, then she could bluff her way through at least the final Test, and gain an audience with the Elders. (That was, of course, assuming that the Three Tests had not been changed entirely in the last three hundred centuries since the last dragon had tried to gain an audience. If they had been changed, she was probably f*** completely.)12/14/2011 #9
Just a little ways from the gateway leading up to the Magnificent Cave of Illusions, a solemn road sign had chosen to stall Kisara by being covered in weather-worn letters and chanting them off at a very bad iambic rhythm (most notably because the message didn't comply with any measure).
"If you take the left path, you shall not return.
If you take the right path, you will perish.
If you walk ahead, you will die.
If you stand there and think for a minute longer,
I am going to eat you."
Carefully weighing her options, Kisara realised that she had only one way to escape the sign's tricks and that was blunt force. She ate the sign.
Finally free to continue her path, she covered the remaining few miles and passed through the wide open gate. Apparently, the Elders were so confident in the difficulty of the Three Tasks that they didn't bother with any additional security measures. In a moment, Kisara came to understand why. As it turned out, there was a Fourth Task and that was finding the Giant Cyclops. Standing under the first arch right beyond the gate leading into the first chamber, she couldn't see a single Cyclops in sight. None. Nix. Nada. Absolute zilch.
What was she to do now?12/14/2011 . Edited 12/14/2011 #10
Kisara glanced around, taking a moment to appreciate the beauty of the cave. The walls were of quartz, and they seemed to glow from deep within. It was an illusion, she knew, because as the day progressed, the light had slowly faded, and she guessed now that the sudden brilliance was due to the last glimmerings of sunset.
This brought to mind a thought that had not yet occurred to her. If the only thing that illuminated the cave was natural light, then soon she would be in absolute darkness. True, she had her flames, but she had nothing to light with them. Fool that she was, she hadn't thought to bring a torch.
As the last rays of sun disappeared, Kisara realized what the last test truly was.
How to kill a Cyclops in the dark?12/16/2011 . Edited 12/16/2011 #11

On the other hand, perhaps the Cyclops was flammable?
If that was the case, then all she really had to do was start breathing flame everywhere. Eventually she would stumble across the Cyclops, and he would go up in flames. Not only would she defeat him, but he would make a rather nice bonfire, allowing her to see just well enough to find and go through the first door!
(She had the minor thought that perhaps it was an Invisible Giant Cyclops, given that she'd yet to see the thing even though it was supposed to be guarding the door. Or perhaps it'd gotten bored in the last however long since the last challenger. Or even died of old age! How convenient that would be!)12/16/2011 #12
(Unbeknownst to Kisara - and really, this is a part of a different story altogether - 6000 years ago the Cyclops had gone fishing. An unfortunate breeze had sent him toppling off the edge and into the rocky seawater below. Somewhere in the cave his unintentional pre-death letter could still be found - "gune feeshin, bii bak suun, nuuu trezpas". You had to hand it to the Cyclops - all self-taught, aside from the few scraps he'd managed to beat out of the previous adventurers.)12/21/2011 . Edited 12/21/2011 #13
Kisara did not know of this letter, and it would have been impossible to find now that she was in the belly of the cave. Her pace slowed to a crawl as she groped her way through the darkness. It was like having a pillow held over her face. No matter what she did, nothing served to pierce through it. Quite a few times, she contemplated letting loose a burst of flame, but she knew that might alert the Cyclops to her presence, if he didn't know where she was already. There was nothing for it but to press on through the seemingly endless cave. Even when she cut herself on the jagged crystals of the wall, she forced herself to be silent. Her breathing too, she tried to suppress, though her nervousness made every noise sound like a thunderclap.
Onward and onward she dragged herself, allowing no rest, expecting at every moment to be attacked. Suddenly, she stumbled over a large rock that had materialized in front of her, and she fell, scattering stones and chips of quartz everywhere. The sound echoed throughout the cave, and Kisara was seized with fear. She lay there, absolutely still. Was this it? Had she summoned the Cyclops?
And behind her, sliding noiselessly across the stone floor, a door opened.1/4/2012 #14
