I'm currently tinkering around with the extension capablilties of Google Chrome and have got a few ideas for handy tools that more of you may enjoy.

Among the thinks I'm thinking about incorporating:

• Quick links to key threads and important websites

- General Chat

- Review Tag

- Harry Potter Wiki

- Links to new and updated stories

- Harry Potter News Resource (Probably will end-up using my code from

- ???

- World Domination?

Any ideas?

That said, does anyone else use Google Chrome and would they be interested in the extension?

I've tried Chrome, but prefer Firefox. Of course, that's just me. YMMV.

Bad Mum

We have Firefox. I think Mike has Chrome on his laptop, but I only get to use that now and again.

Firefox is a dying browser. As much as I hate to say it, Internet Explorer 9 is superior to Firefox 4. I used to be a very adamant supporter of Firefox, but with Mozilla's inability to keep-up in the competitive market, Microsoft, Google, and Opera are winning this battle. Firefox is now the slowest of the four primary browsers. (Firefox 4 vs. Internet Explorer 9 vs. Chrome 8 vs. Opera 11)

Opera and Chrome will remain at the top, but Internet Explorer is quickly become a legitimate competitor again.

I do! I love Chrome.

The addon is currently in a pre-alpha state. When it gets a little further along, I'll put it up on Google's extension site.

An alpha version of the addon is available.

Feedback is appreciated.

I have Chrome...but what is a extension...

An extension is like an addon in Firefox. Basically, it adds additional functionality to a browser.

Of few of my favourites for Chrome:

WOT (Web of Trust) adds little coloured rings next to hyperlinks. Green = likely safe, yellow = possibly harmful, red = definitely not safe.

AdBlock Plus -

This extension blocks or hides ads from you on websites. Basically, all those really annoying banner ads go away and pages load faster as a result.

Slick RSS -

Slick RSS is a feed/news compiler. Many big sites (including FFN) use RSS or Atom feeds to push updates to extensions like this one. It helps you keep track of large numbers of websites and their updates.

AutoReplay for YouTube -

Ever wish you could just stick a song on repeat on Youtube? Now you can.

Personal Blocklist -

An extension by Google that allows you to block websites from even showing up in your results on Google searches. Now you can improve your own searches by cutting out sites you know won't help you. This is particularly useful for weeding out search farming websites that exist as large blocks of common search key phrases only to pull people in for ad revenue.
