*huggles Ave* come now, I'm sure they've just got a bit of a momentary self-esteem problem.

Hallo guys. :)

No, I mean they are seriously anorexic. These dogs are six weeks old and they each only weigh about five pounds, and they refuse to eat. I feel bad denying them anything because they're already so damn skinny...

Hey Andy. Alt or penname change?

They are very cute. But underweight. They're seriously deadly skinny. And I can't make them eat. Thus is the story of my life for at least three weeks...

*hisses and avoids the pups* cats aren't good with dogs of any age... However if the mother's there they should be fine if not I'm sure your local pet store can provide high fat content food for pups their age

I have the opposite problem. My dog cannot stop eating. It's gotten to the point we have to tie her up so she won't raid the pantry.

Aventine Hill

We don't have their Mummy. That's probably a problem. They were weened way too early then they should have been. And they have the proper food, just no one will actually eat it.

Juliet, all of my dogs are like that. They scavenge all day. These pups are constantly stalked by me with a food bowl, but they don't feel like eating. The other dogs are jealous.

I see, it's illega here to actually adopt either a cat or dog before the weaning (or oral phase) stage is completed to prevent this from happening. From what i've read one of the only was is to actually use a specially designed bottle as a substitute, if they're that young that is. If not you may need to supplument with expensive human food they'd simply find irrisitable in comparrison to their usual stuff.

I meant that she howls for food - any food - all the time. She scarfs down her dog food in record time.

They were weened at minimum age, so it was technically okay, but they're too small for that. They also have a bottle. I have to shove it in their mouths, and they drink for ten seconds and then walk away. -_____-

which is strange. An animal would never consciously starve itself, they have little concept of dislike for just a few flavours, heck I know they'd eat grass if they had to. I'd simply say let them learn, as they grow they'll feel the urge for more and more food as its not like they'd conciously avoid eating just because they dont like the taste. I'd say keep going as you are, they'll probably subtly want more and more but if the problem gets worse and their condition deteriorates, dude, I'd have a chat with your vet then.

They also all have kennel cough. They're fosters, though, so hopefully they'll be okay.

7/3/2010 #2,968
Xed Alpha

I'm sure they will. They know how to eat, they also have a source to eat from, therfore they wouldnt willingly starve themselves. Give it some time and I'm sure you'll see you're doing a bang up job... Until they grow and start eating your socks

I like my socks, though.

My dog thinks all socks belong on my mom's bedroom floor, so that's where she dumps them all.
