Lord Kelvin

There is a magical site that tells you, whose writing your style is most related to.

http://iwl.me/

Give it a try and post the results here. Give it another try and see how the names change from one story to another. The bigger the chunk of text, the more accurate the answer is.

UPDATE!

http://www.joeswebtools.com/text/readability-tests/

This nifty website lets you see how hard you are on your readers. How old your readers must be to understand the the text, how easily your text is read in general with a bunch of other things.

Reading ease: 90% understood by preteens. 60-70% understood by ages 13-15. 0-30% understood by university graduates.

Grade level: how many years of studying English your reader must have done to understand your writing.

UPDATE #2!

http://www.hackerfactor.com/GenderGuesser.php

A third site that tells your gender/sex based on your writing. Got what it takes to write like a real woman, punk?

http://prowritingaid.com/Free-Editing-Software.aspx

An automated beta reader. Offers in-depth analysis. Useful for making final touches. Refrain from religious use.

Ten ways to spoil dinner

Well, I posted my newest story for the most accurate results...

And I got William Shakespeare.

I won't bother stating the site is broken. I'll just bask in the glory of being like William Shakespeare ;)

...I still think it's broken, though...

*thinks a bit*

Hey, I wansn't Stephenie Meyer! 8DDD

I posted the second chapter of Defying Gravity and was told I write like Arthur C. Clarke.

Now the question remains: who the hell is Arthur C Clarke?

7/18/2010 #4
Lord Kelvin

I write like Arthur C. Clarke, a British sci-fi person. My blog got the same answer.

Copied the whole chapter and got Stephen King. I can diss Meyer!

Oh lord. I posted the half done chapter for tw1l1t3 and it told me I write like Meyer. DX

I have a feeling it takes names into account. I wonder what happens when I take a Twilight excerpt and change all the names...

7/18/2010 #12
Georgasaurus

Aha! I knew it.

I posted the same chapter but with all the names changed to Amy, Cassie, and Lucas. It gave me Mark Twain instead of Meyer.

7/18/2010 #13
mutemockingjay

I pasted in the scene from Darling, I Want to Destroy You where Sigma puts dish soap on the floor and the Councilor slips on it and causes a mess.

The result?

I write like Leo Tolstoy.

It probably doesn't.

I entered another story with the same character names and got a different author: David Foster Wallace

Considering the story was crap, I'm guessing this guy is a wannabe Shakespeare?

7/18/2010 #20
UnnaturalKetchupTaco

I posted two entries and I got Cory Doctorow both times.

7/18/2010 #21
SCREAMINGwhispers

William Gibson.

7/18/2010 #22
Aquaman52

I posted two sections of my work I thought were totally different, and got Dan Brown both times. And to think, I was talking with my girlfriend just this afternoon about becoming rich and famous by rewriting the Bible...

EDIT: I put in a completely different story that was meant to be a humor fic. Still Dan Brown. XD

Yes! That dark crackfic I wrote got me William Shakespeare!

...except that doesn't really make any sense. This site confuses me.

I feel so unbelievably accomplished right now. :DDDDDDDDDD

7/18/2010 #25

7/18/2010 #27
