UchihaKamename This is where the character profiles will be. Please include the code words from the rules somewhere in your post. Also, please use the skeleton below for your character profile. Name: Age: Gender: Deity Parent(s): (Remember, this is a Greek mythology roleplay, but you are not playing a god/goddess. You are playing as a child of one or two deities. If the deity is one that may not be as well known [i.e. Mnemosyne, Hecate], please give a short bio/ description.) Human parent: (If you have one. If not, you can exclude this. Here you should give a short bio of the parent.) Special abilities: (As a demigod or child of two gods, your character will have some sort of abilities. Please try to be creative, though. There are too many people with the ability to fly and breathe under water, for instance.) UchihaKamename Name: Calvin Duchamp (This is French, so it would be pronounced French-like. Cal-va Doo-shahmp) Age: 18 Gender: Male Deity Parent: Apollo, the god of male beauty, light, art, poetry, oracles, plagues, healing, etc. Human parent: Rose Laurine Duchamp (French, again. Ruhz Loh-reen Doo-shahmp.) She is the grand-daughter of the prominent French Dada artist, Marcel Duchamp. She was born in 1964 in Lyon, France. Rose followed in her grandfather's footsteps and became an artist as well. Her paintings were not appreciated by the general public, however, one of her few fans was the god Apollo. He transformed into a human and went to her art exhibits. When she heard he was a big fan of hers, the two became friends and six years later, they married. Of course, it wasn't long after Calvin was born that Apollo revealed his true identity to Rose. She was horrified to know about the fact that he was a Greek god because of her Christian beliefs, so she fled. Apollo was enraged, so he punished her by kidnapping 3-year-old Calvin and erasing Rose's memory. Special abilities: Calvin is not the fittest person, since he is relatively thin and has little muscle. However, he relies on his abilities to sense people's emotions and knowing what to say to people to avoid conflicts. He also has minor telekinetic abilities that, with training, could be used to move even the heaviest objects. Aside from that, he has excellent artistic talent and has a tendency to make exact copies of famous artwork in less than two weeks. Due to his schooling, he has learned a bit of English; he also knows French as his native language, and has something of a "universal understanding" of Greek. (Meaning, he can't read it or speak it, but somehow he understands it.) Personality: Calvin is something of an outgoing introvert; he enjoys his alone time, but has no problems when it comes to being around people. He is known to wear very flamboyant outfits, in contrast with his generally reserved personality. Although he's lived in an orphanage for as long as he remembers and knows very little about his past, he doesn't let that get him down. He has a sunny and friendly nature that brightens people's day and is very easy to talk to. Unfortunately, when he gets angry, (which can be often when the weather is not at its best), he can be downright cruel; with his ability to know exactly what to say to someone to make them happy, he can also hurt people very easily with his words. Another character flaw is his over dependency on others; he cannot be in a relationship with someone who will not have to take care of him all of the time. He gets too emotionally attached to some people, and he is easily hurt but doesn't show it. Edit: He's a damn hot-head sometimes. Appearance: He is a "pretty boy". As mentioned above, he likes to wear colorful outfits that he buys with his own money. One would not be able to tell that he lives in an orphanage by his very put-together appearance and great sense of style. He got his shoulder-length wavy blond hair from his father and the grass green eyes from his mother. What he also inherited from his father were the high, sculpted cheekbones and the pointed nose. He had a Greek aura about him, even though the caretakers in the orphanage insisted he was purely French. Generally, he was an exceptionally beautiful young man with artistic talents who had a very good way with words. Height: 5'10" (He's not super-skinny, but he's not particularly muscular, either. He swims sometimes, so he doesn't exactly have a swimmer's body, but he's lean otherwise.) Weight: 160 lbs. (67 kg.) Hometown: Lyon, France. History: All Calvin knows about his past is that his father was an art appreciator and his mother was an artist who had not been very popular. He also knows that his father brought him to the orphanage because he had to flee the country and his mother was in a coma. He did not know their names, only his mother's last name, Duchamp. His father had brought him to the orphanage in a hurry when he was 3. Apollo had left a note saying he was leaving and that the child's name was Duchamp, and that his birthday was November 28. The caretakers at the orphanage decided to name him Calvin after John Calvin, who had started the Calvinist Church. Sample roleplaying passage (to check your literacy.): November 28 was getting closer and closer; Calvin had never been so excited for his birthday in his entire life. He counted down the seconds on the clock until midnight, when he would be 18, and he would be free to get out of the hellhole that was the orphanage. He had packed hours ago, silently, so as to not arouse suspicion. Even though they wouldn't be able to stop him, he still felt a bit guilty about what he was about to do. He had saved up a few thousand euros so that he would have something to start a new life with, and he ran his fingers over the banknotes in his pocket nervously. The clock chimed midnight, and he made a dash for it. He hopped out the window into the chilly night air and ran as fast as he could across the yard of the orphanage, making a left like he had so many thousands of times before. Now he knew that he would not be coming back, so he said a quick good bye, said a prayer, and was off, this time at a normal pace. His heart was still pounding from the adrenaline rush, and he was breathing heavily, but it was definitely worth it. He was free, and he could now do whatever he pleased. "Now…" he thought, "what the hell do I do now?" I don't need the special code words because I'm cool like that. xD 8/27/2010 . Edited 9/13/2010 #2 |
L.T.TaraMay (sorry the example is so long, i couldn't cut parts out, even though its all fluff.) Name: Maisha Taylor Age: sixteen Gender: female Deity Parent(s): Artemis Human Parent(s): Arnold and Luna. Luna grew up in Italy and moved to America after studying there for four years. She married Arnold, who was just starting out as an archeologist at the time, and though they have been going through some financial trouble recently, she is happy with raising her child abroad. Special Abilities:perfect accuracy with a bow, no matter what. Also, she can communicate with meat eating animals. She can also tell if a plant is edible by smelling it. Also, though it has nothing to do with her ancestry, she has picked up five languages other than english. While she has lived abroad, she has learned greek, and can get around wherever people speak a romance language, though she isn't completely fluent in all of them. Personality: She's quiet and a little distant until she warms up to someone, but once she does you can tell that she has a very sarcastic sense of humor and is really loyal. She has always been fascinated with forests and animals, and she's a fantabulous woodsman. She is very accepting and motherly to those younger than her. She is also obsessed with revenge. Appearance: Her skin is pale, she has long wavy brown hair and the only thing really exceptional about her looks is her liquid emerald eyes. She has calloused hands from using a bow, and very strong legs due to exploring forests all over the world. Height: 5'6'' Weight: 115lb Hometown: Maisha's moved around a lot, but she has lived in Washington DC for the longest. Right now she is traveling with her dad in Greece. History: Maisha's father is a traveling Archeologist who once rebuilt a temple to Artemis on one of his many trips to Greece. After this, she visited him disguised as a friend and witnessed the Maisha's birth. She was actually stillborn, but Artemis revealed herself and breathed into her mouth, bringing her back to life and giving the child demigod qualities. Maisha grew up almost constantly traveling around the world with her parents, following her father for his job, and was homeschooled. Sample role playing passage (to check your literacy.): Maisha looked over the wooded landscape from her perch on one of the highest trees in the forest, the landscape lay out before her, as expansive as one would imagine Asphodel Feilds. The wind tussled her hair, and she let go of the branch she was crouching on to pull it back out of her face. She carefully adjusted her feet on the narrow expanse of wood, then straightened her back and tied her hair back with a rubber band. She scolded herself for not thinking of that earlier when she had been running. She put her hands back on the branch again, and smiled as the breeze touched the back of her neck. Here she was, back in Greece. Finally. Maisha closed her eyes and felt the tree sway ever so slightly beneath her, breathing in the Mediterranean air that was always a comfort to her. One more day and she would have to leave again, back to the States, to the house that never had that feeling of home, like that feeling she felt when she was here, especially like the one summer she had visited Athens. She smiled, thinking back, but was disturbed as she heard the murmur of a wolf far below her, an alert that someone was calling her name. She quickly slipped her feet off of the branch, falling until she caught herself five feet below. She hurriedly climbed down, and greeted the gray creature with a pat on the shoulder. His eyes told her of a woman's voice calling out. Mom. Time to go back. Maisha nodded and started her long jog back to the hotel. 8/27/2010 . Edited 8/28/2010 #3 |
HayashiOkami (I just wanted to get this in here. I'll fill it out when I return. Tell me if I have to change anything. Oh, and: Asphodel Fields, Athens) Name: Lanthanon (meaning 'I am hidden' in Greek) Age: 60 Gender: Male Deity Parent(s): Poseidon, god of the sea and storms, and Amphitrite, a sea goddess who became Poseidon's consort Special abilities: Lanthanon is a creature of the sea that spends most of his time deep under the surface, in the darkest parts of the oceans where no light penetrates. Therefore, his sight is horrible and he uses echolocation to move around. He can't breathe underwater since he has no gills, but he inhabits islands where there are many deep caverns and he gets his air in a similar way to that of seals. He is an extremely good swimmer, but doesn't fair as well on land and finds feet to be annoying. On stormy nights, he helps to calm the ocean currents, but it isn't something he can do alone. Alone, the most he can do is slightly tweak the currents of the ocean. Although it has no further effects, his singing is very calming. Since he spends his time underwater, talking is hard on his vocal cords and he often speaks in a very stiff manner. Lanthanon can change his form to that of a human, but he's very awkward in this form. He also seems to be unaware that humans can't hold their breaths for so long, so he'll try and come up sputtering for air in a few minutes. He still likes to sing, but his songs are sometimes a little rough in this form. Personality: Lanthanon is friendly, but a little too excitable sometimes. Since he spends most of his time underwater, he has zero social skills, even though he likes to socialize. In a conversation, he can't really understand the hidden meanings behind what people say. Unless it's direct, he wouldn't notice an insult or a compliment. Since he's a creature of the sea that takes part in the control of water currents, he was born unable to hold grudges, as his temper can inadvertentlyaffect the currents. When the ocean suffers, Lanthanon feels its hurt to some extent and it can make him rather depressed. He values the quality of life and has no need for materialistic things. He is a very cheery person, but even if something is wrong with him, he doesn't like to bother others with his problems. It takes a lot of effort to get these things from him, as he normally changes the subject constantly and tries to act as if nothing is wrong. In that aspect, he's very stubborn. His childish personality stems from his lack of communication and he can grow rather clingy to anyone he gets to know. Just as easily, he can drop relationships. The only thing he's really loyal to is the ocean, not necessarily his parents either. Appearance: Lanthanon appears as something akin to a dragon, bird, and sea-faring dinosaur. His body is sleek with a long and slender neck, and everything about him is streamline and provides for easy movement in the water. His head is narrow and pointed, and his tail has two rudder-like protrusions. He is a silvery white in color, aquired because no light penetrates the bottom of the ocean. In this respect, his eyes are red; every part of him lacks pigmentation. He has two large and powerful hind legs, and wings that seem like arms and hands. These wings serve no purpose other than to give him an extra boost in the water; they cannot fly and they aren't hands. The wings, if flapped on land, can create large gusts of wind. (Got the okay for this form...) Lanthanon's human form has extremely pale features, aka, he's an albino. His hair falls to his shoulder blades and he doesn't care about his appearance at all. Sometimes, he's surprised to see his own reflection. At a first glance, he doesn't look very strong, but he does have a strong grip. Instead of normal clothes, he wears strange, billowing robes with ancient Greek words across it. These robes don't allow him to use any of his powers, so he's rather weak as a human. Height: 7 feet, 4 inches (Length-wise, he is a little bigger, since it encompasses his tail.)/5 feet, 6 inches (human) Weight: 310 lbs. (Due to the nature of water, he is very big and can possibly grow bigger- weight is no problem in the water, but a little more of one on land.)/138 lbs. (human) Hometown: Pacific Ocean History: Born from Poseidon and Amphitrite in the Pacific Ocean, Lanthanon has spent his entire life underwater at the bottom of the ocean, where his father left him when he was born. Being abandoned probably doesn't bother him as much as it should, but he was raised by the sea's other inhabitants and other gods, so he's content with his life. Over time, he's grown to be indifferent to his parents. He's only helping his father because the other gods are as well. The pollution in the water has actually caused him to have rather bad health. He needs to eat immense amounts of fish or vegetables to function and he doesn't have so much energy these days. The poison in his body sometimes forces him to the clean rivers and lakes to recuperate. Sample roleplaying passage (to check your literacy.): Lanthanon loved the ocean for all its lonely darkness, of course, but the freshwater lakes and rivers rejuvenated his entire being. The toxins sloughed off his body in waves and the weight in his heart lifted as he floated along. The intense light burned, but the view of passing river pebbles took his mind away from such pains. Besides the pain that the light brought, Lanthanon loved the sun's warmth on his skin that always remained icy cold. Sure, his body retained enough heat for him to survive, but he was always feeling somewhat cold. He wasn't born with blubber as the arctic animals were. His belly skimmed the smooth pebbles below and he released a trill of delight at the sand-less sensation. The grity sand grew annoying sometimes. The simple joy of swimming along made him twist and turn as much as the narrow body of water would allow and he could tell that the local wildlife wasn't pleased with the minor flooding. 8/28/2010 . UchihaKamename @Tarame: You need to give some more info on the parents, or at least specify that the info will be in other parts of the profile. (We know nothing about her parents other than the fact that her dad's an archaeologist.) Other than that, though, it looks pretty good. And I thought we had agreed on Kassia, ey? xD Also, doesn't she have a last name? Include that. And you were saying how she knows like 6 languages? Include that in the special abilities (I should fix that up on my own profile, too) and why, and also her fluency in each (she may be a "demigod", but she's not a genius; she shouldn't be super fluent in all of them, be realistic.) Oh and last thing, even after you make all the changes, I can't accept them until I know you've read the rules. Edit: Alright, nice job on the fixing. Accepted! @Hayashi: Looks pretty good so far. One thing, though. It's minor, but the 5'6"/105 lb. height-to-weight ratio would make him severely underweight. It would make him something along the lines of anorexic. Just fix that minor detail. I also have a feeling that Calvin would be his friend. Accepted! 8/28/2010 . Edited 8/29/2010 #5 |
Locotaco14 Name: Ryan Gills or Mitchellson Age: 18 Gender: Male Deity Parent(s): Aphrodite, Goddess of Beauty. Human parent: Michael Mitchellson, a black american born man. Tall and muscular, Michael grew up on the harsh streets of L.A. Being an orphan he had no family, no friends, nobody to turn to. Growing up alone and forgotten, he knew, he was the only one to care for himself. Although a very handsome, he was cold, solitary man. He had hardly enough to even scratch by, but he manged by staying alive... Until he met Aphrodite, the woman who would change his very exsistence... Special abilities: Ryan posses great strength, far more than average man, but it does have its limits. In other ways he is "physically" superior in just about every way. His eye sight keener, although now crippled, hearing more acute, faster than others, and far more stronger. And with the ability to sense "the bond" between others, such as if two people were the greatest of friends he would be able to feel that, in a way. Personality: Ryan is quiet and rarely even speaks, it was how he was raised (more in his history). He loves to smile and kind to others even though if they don't show it back. He is extremely lonely and desperately wants a friend or someone to talk too. With being raised how he was, he was told it would, "only hold him back." So he had to give away his kindness... Due to his gruesome appearance it is highly difficult to do so. Although lonely, he was trained never to speak and have an uncaring attitude. He has incredible will power so he never gives up, even if everybone in his body is broken, he will fight on. With this he was taught not to fear anything, feel anything, and want anything. And without mercy and pity holding him back he will stop at nothing to win... But with his TRUE personality he absolutely loathes violence. Appearance: He is a African American with a tall and extremely muscular build. Scars line almost every part of his body. He has a very strikingly handsome face but it is marred by three long claw marks crossing his left eye all the way to his neck. The scarred eye is glazed and grey with his iris blank of color, making him blind in that particular eye, though his original eye color was an awesome ocean blue. His hair is blonde, short, and spikey. He has a tough jaw, but his face would be that of almost perfection even without the scars (thanks to Aphrodite) but he carries his father's build. Height: 7'2" Weight: 276 Hometown: The slums of L.A. California. (Abandoned apartment complexes, etc.) History: When Michael (Ryan's father) met Aphrodite, even though she was in her human from, he found her extremely attractive, not like a super model but like some chick from a cheesy romance novel where some stupid guy falls in love with her, only he was that stupid guy. When Aphrodite met him, however, she considered him the most beautiful man she had seen and fell in love with him instantly (It's used all the time in myths, "the love at first sight" crap). She, like all the other gods, was bored so she visited L.A. and watch the men moon over her. Only, she didn't count on Michael... They spent three years together, Aphrodite never revealing her trueself. On the the third year Aphrodite found that she was pregnant. She was embarassed enough to having coneding a mortal... but now this? She had enough, she erased Michael's memory, to have never meeting her. The baby was born only seven days from the start of the pregnancy. Aphrodite took the newborn child and left it for dead and the darkest parts of L.A. leaving crying alone in the streets... Ryan was found by Tyrese Gills, a local drug dealer and cage fighter. Tyrese didn't want the life he was in but it let him survive. He took the baby and called him "Ryan" after his grandpa who had recently past. He raised Ryan until he was six. But Ryan was a tough kid having his father's build it caught the attention of the "Cage Fighters", an illegal fight club forcing men and even kids to fight in a vicous tournament for entertainment and gambling. Tyrese was killed defending Ryan, in the end Ryan had the closing thing he had to a father taken away, but his new life was just beginning. Ryan was taught, trained, and even beaten to learn that it was only to take care of himself, he shouldn't feel any pain, remorse, pity, and mercy when it came to the cage. He was taught there was no other life than this... that everyone was like this and he should be too. He fought and earned his scars killing other kids and, when he was old enough, to kill other men. Sometimes the Cage Fighters even through dogs into the mix, just to "spice things up". Ryan was to face "Hercules" a huge husky that was just like him. Killing to survive. It was the most gruesome fight Ryan had ever been in, giving him most of his brutal scars lining across his body, including the one that flashed across his eye and neck. But as a demigod he had his strength and the ability to predict Hercules' moves... In the end, he had triumphed. Ryan, aged eighteen, discovered he could use these powers against the Cage Fighters, so he escaped living his brutal past behind... to start his true life... that was just about to begin. Sample roleplaying passage (to check your literacy.): Ryan could not believe it had nearly six months since he had escaped... In a way, he was happy. Freedom was stretched out before... Everything he was taught was now behind him he will be a new man. But a scream interrupted his thougts. He looked to a nearby alleyway, where a man was mugging a woman. Ryan seethed with anger, it reminded him too much of what he had done. He charged at the and clutched his jacket and threw him to the other side of the alleyway without any effort. He stood there clutching his fists, breathing loudly trying to calm himself. He heard a whimper behind him. His anger was gone in a second. He turned around and looked down at the cowering woman. "Please... Don't h-hurt me!" she stuttered, completely frightened at what Ryan had done. Ryan smiled and stuck out his hand to her, willingly try to help her to her feet. The woman looked up and smiled back, but it instantly faded when she saw his face. She screamed once more and scrambled away, running as if her life was on the line. Ryan stared after, scolding himself. But he was instantly interrupted by one of his visions it was clear and it was certainly much farther than a few seconds... He was at an airport staring at the Flight times looking straight at a flight for Greece... then the vision ended... He suddenly felt the most powerful need to head to Greece as if his very life would take center stage right there... (Sorry it's so long... but Sparta and Oracle of Delphi) (Fixed... I'm hoping strength is okay... considering most demis had it regardless... and I can't really think of anything that would carry on that would "match"...) 8/31/2010 . Edited 9/8/2010 #6 |
UchihaKamename @Locotaco14: I haven't been able to read your character profile until now, but it's pretty good from what I've seen. Ryan seems like a really cool and unique character. The only qualms I have are with the special abilities/ powers, though. Usually, when a demigod is born, he or she possesses some sort of abilities relating to his or her parent. I can see why he would be very strong, but stronger than Hercules? Aphrodite is the goddess of beauty and sexuality, so why would her son have visions, be able to solve really difficult puzzles, and have super-strength? I can't accept it until you either give good reasons for his special abilities, or change them. But overall I must say Ryan's background is very well done. I like it a lot. :D And don't worry about the length, it's better to have a bit too much detail than not enough. 9/1/2010 . Edited 9/1/2010 #7 |
UchihaKamename @Locotaco: You can add more abilities, if you'd like. If anything, you're accepted! :D I look forward to roleplaying with you. 9/1/2010 #8 |
Locotaco14 Thanks man, I'll read the story to catch up... I think I'll jump in tomorrow see ya then! 9/2/2010 #9 |
She Who Shines Name: Aletheia "Allie" Pierce (her first name is Ancient Greek, meaning 'truth'. It's pronounced 'ah-lay-thay-uh') Age: She makes a point to always lie about her age. She's probably under twenty. Gender: Female Deity Parent(s): Hermes, god of anything that travels the roads – thieves, travelers, merchants, messengers… but mostly thieves. Human parent: Thessaly (Here's that 'code word' you asked for. It was so lovely I just had to use it as a name somehow somewhere) Pierce, a travelling gypsy who met and fell in love with Hermes on the road. She still loves him, but upon learning he was a god Thessaly put her tail between her legs and ran before something horrible could happen like it always does in Greek Mythology. Hermes called in a favor from Aphrodite, who cursed Thessaly so she will never love or be loved again (in a romantic sense) in her lifetime, and she was also given the 'gift' of prophecy. This could be considered a good thing, but when gypsies tell fortunes customers want to hear what they want to hear, not what will come, so she is often forced to lie. Her gift also showed her that her daughter will be separated from her and forced into great danger some day in the future, and she has been dreading that day ever since. Special abilities: Allie could run like a blur (literally; super-speed is one of her powers) all day without breaking a sweat. She can't read but has a near photographic memory – even when it comes to audible sounds, and when travelling, she has extremely good luck. Personality: She's whispy and fickle, with a terribly short attention span and a tendency for the dramatic.Allie is an excellent pick pocket, but hardly uses her talents. She's optimistic and cheerful almost always, but is prone to occasional spurts of depression and doesn't often stand her ground – she prefers to run away. Appearance: She has curly black hair and a pretty face. Allie is slim, but muscular, with lovely cobalt blue eyes. She wears a colorful (orange, purple, red, dark blue) circle skirt a third of the way down her calves and goes about barefoot. Her shirt is loose and plain white. She pulls her hair back with a dark blue bandanna. Height: Um, let's say 5 foot 5 inches and call it good Weight: 110 pounds (weighs less than she seems, and that's saying something) Hometown: Nowhere; she travels in a caravan with the gypsies- and while I'm at it here's that other word I must place somewhere in here: peloponnesus History: She traveled all across Europe with her aunts, uncles, cousins and mother, hearing magical stories around the fire. She learned to believe in the mystic, and thinks there is something more to everything she sees. Due to her travels she can speak fluent French, German, Italian, and English without the slightest trace of an accent in any (though she often fakes one just for the fun of it). Which she learned first is a mystery even she might not know; it's hard to tell with that girl. Sample roleplaying passage: Feeling her heavy skirt flicker in the wind and gazing over the open fields ahead was something close to perfection. The light singing of her companions as they danced around the dusk fire made it so.This was her world: hers to travel, hers to learn from, hers to explore, hers to care for, and hers to cherish. There were so many beautiful things to believe in on this world that was hers – her family, the air she breathed, the powers she possessed, the wind in her hair, the worms in the ground and the magic that seeped through the earth. Her tarot cards hardly worked properly; she barely 'saw beyond' and half the time had to fake it, though her mother was much more talented. But she knew it was there – even when it was hiding.Magic would always be there. It was there and strong and she believed. ---- I love Greek Mythology and saw your plea for more players. The description here sounded fantastic so I thought I should jump in if you have room for me.I plan to skim over your adventures up until now and read up on all the other characters while I wait to be approved.I can't wait to get started! 9/3/2010 . Edited 9/7/2010 #10 |
UchihaKamename @She Who Shines: Yay, another female character! Another very cool and unique character. The only thing that I feel I must point out is that her mother, Thessaly, did not get punished for running away from Hermes. xD Usually there's some sort of punishment involved. (Yeah, I tend to nit-pick small points on character profiles...) But even so, Aletheia is very well balanced. Accepted! (But fix what I pointed out, and you'll be good to go.) 9/4/2010 #11 |
She Who Shines I'm so glad you think she has so much potential. I'm really excited about Aletheia; I tried to make her as unique and interesting as I possibly could. Thessaly now has a punishment - sorry I left it out earlier, and thanks for inviting me in. I can't wait to play! Just let me catch up on all those posts; I'm about halfway through... 9/4/2010 #12 |
She Who Shines OH! I just thought of a power that might make sense for Aletheia. If it's too much, just say so and I won't give it to her - but maybe she can see where people are on the road in her mind? That way she can find them and reach them so she can 'deliver the message' as Hermes' daughter. She'd probably be able to tell who the other demigod's parents are, too. Is that okay? 9/4/2010 #13 |
UchihaKamename That sounds good, but make sure she doesn't have too many strengths to throw her off balance. Also, how does she know English? Did she travel to England? Because unless she went to an English-speaking country, she would not know English. I can understand her knowing Italian, French, and German, but did she go to the British Isles? Because in mainland Europe, people don't speak English a lot, except for tourists. 9/4/2010 #14 |
She Who Shines Okay, I'll be careful. Let me know if I'm sliding over into the 'too powerful' area. She's pretty weak when it comes to combat, at least. As for how she learned English, I'm thinking that tourists make up a lot of her family's customers, so it was convenient for them to learn that tongue as well. Does that work?If not I could limit her to those three languages. It just might be easier for communication purposes if she spoke English as well. 9/4/2010 . Edited 9/4/2010 #15 |
Locotaco14 Hey Uchiha, I added more to Ryan's abilities and I am wondering if it is okay or is it too much? 9/8/2010 #16 |
UchihaKamename @Locotaco: It's good now. :D Now you can start posting. Well, you could have posted before, but hey. xD 9/8/2010 #17 |
Locotaco14 Haha! I know but he felt to be to little so I spent a lot of time just thinking what'd be good for him and to be more representable... so thanks see ya there man! 9/8/2010 #18 |
iMute (Hey, I hope it's not too late to join. :DD Or too long.) Name: Anippe "Ani" Age: 17 Gender: Female Deity Parent(s): Poseidon, god of the sea, storms and earthquakes Human parent: Kissa was a traveling geologist, searching the ruins of her ancestors in Egypt when she met Poseidon as a human standing in front of a pyramid to an ancient pharaoh that had collapsed due to a deep, underground earthquake. The two had explored the ruins together and had fallen in love. Poseidon, after impregnating Kissa, had explained who he was. Kissa was shaken to the core, being a believer of the ancient Egyptian ways. Poseidon left her to tend to their child. Kissa accepted the fact that there were other beliefs in the world than her own, but she remained faithful to Ra and the other Egyptian dieties. Special abilities: Ani has always been drawn to water, despite growing up in Egyptian deserts. She could swim faster, hold her breath underwater longer, and she often felt calmer and healthier when submerged in water. She has always been a natural born rider of horses, much better than her mother Kissa was. Although fluent in Arabic, the natural tongue of Egypt, she can speak French and English, but mostly what she picked up while traveling with her mother. Because traveling through the Egyptian desert can be dangerous, her mother taught her how to wield certain weapons, the main priority being a dual bladed sword. In the words of her mother's friend and geology mentor, James Tennent, "Guns are the coward's choice of defense. You point and hit a button; where is the honor in that?" Personality: Having grown up mostly on the move, Ani never gained many friends that were her age. They were usually adults that traveled from one geological site to the next, and because of that, Ani is much more mature for her age and her understanding of certain things to teenagers her age are above average. Ani is a reserved girl, knowing the difference between when to hold her tongue and when to speak out. She's a firm believer in the maat, the eternal and divine order of things that was a long belief of her ancestors. Ani believes that everything has it's place, and without balance, the world will fall to chaos, as is the current state of the world. She takes her responsibilities very seriously, and doesn't like to stray off from the task at hand. She's determined and independent, and having only her mother to care for her, she understands what it means to take care of herself. Secretly, Ani dreams of being free of all the responsibility on her shoulders and wishes she could float down the Nile as she often does in the middle of the night when she can't sleep. Unfortunately, Ani never learned how to love anyone besides her mother, and maybe James who was like a father to her, teaching her all the things her mother couldn't, therefore Ani sometimes seems distant and cold to others. Appearance: Ani is a thin girl, but muscled with enough strength to keep her going. She's used to eating little and traveling far. She, like most Egyptians, has deeply tanned skin, a pointed face and dark hair. Her long, black hair reaches her waist but she usually keeps it in a loose braid down her back. The unevenly cut shiny bangs that cover her forehead are kept back by a brown cloth headwrap her mother stitched for her when she was a little girl. She's unusually tall for her people, but not gawky. The thing that stands out from her appearance is her eyes. Unlike her mother's dark eyes, hers are a deep blue that mimics the Nile in the sun. She wears sandals on her travel-worn feet, khaki cargo pants, and a light brown tunic. A belt on her waist holds her scabbard and whatever blade or knife she has on her at that moment. She often carries a leather pack with provisions and enough water. Height: 5'6" Weight: 115 lbs Hometown: Nowhere in particular, seeing as she and her mother are constantly on the move, but she counts all of Egypt as her home. History: Ani has been on the move for as long as she can remember. Her mother taught her in the ancient Egyptian religion of her ancestors whenever she could, and Ani picked up whatever tidbits of information her mother's friend James Tennant taught her. Ani, who has explored the ruins of temples and pyramids of her people as a young child, has always felt a strong draw to her religion and history, and even the religion or history of others. Ani grew up as a nomad; going from place to place every day, exploring the world before her. Sample roleplaying passage (to check your literacy.): The world was a muted rush of noises and feelings; she heard only the tumble of the Nile over the muddy banks, felt only its cool embrace over her skin. Anippe, often called Ani by her mother and those in their archeology and geology group, lay with her body in the Nile, her feet pointing downstream. She felt free in the water, despite clinging to the bank so she didn't get pulled away from where their campsite was. Ani didn't feel the need to act more grown-up than she really was, or having to prepare the meals for them as her mother worked late into the night, discovering what ancient treasures lay in wait in the pyramid of an ancient pharaoh. Her mother, Kissa, loved her work almost as much as she loved Ani. But Kissa often let her work take her by the hand and lead her away to the past, leaving the present behind for however long it took. Ani opened her eyes underwater, watching the blue water rush over her face, taking away the day's traveling from her body, washing away the sand and dirt from the grooves in her skin. Her black hair flowed freely around her, and reluctantly, she sat up in the water and pulled herself to where her clothes lay. She had stripped to her undergarments to take her "bath", and now she let the sun dry her soaking body. Ani looked up to the sky to watch the sun's path across it. She murmured to the god of the sun, "Ra, thank you for a safe travel. Be safe as you travel down towards Daut." Ani knew, from her myriad of teachings, that daut was the underworld of Egypt; Ra traveled down there to be reborn so he could rise again on the eastern horizon every morning. Ani took one last glance at the sky before changing back into her clothes, and braided her still dripping hair into a braid. Silently, she rose to her feet and walked down to where her mother and the others were filing into their designated tents after breaking for lunch. Already, Ani was being greeted by people she had grown up with, or people she had just met. They seemed to like her, even if she hadn't made a clear decision about them. Her name sounded empty and awkward on their tongues; most people were greeted by their name, followed by their father's name, and even their father's father's name. But she had no father; at least, not one she ever knew, not even by name. He had left Kissa alone many years ago, before she had even been born. Not that she ever resented him for it, and she would instead pride herself in being Anippe daughter of Kissa, or even just Anippe. It was different. Just like her. 9/13/2010 #19 |

ShinyKipp Hi! I've wanted to join this for a while~ My two words were Skylla and Charybdis, from what happens to be my favorite part of the Odyssey =D Name: Lucia "Lue" DeSoto Age: 17 (at time of writing this), although she tells people she's 21. Gender: Female Deity Parent(s): Nike, goddess of victory. She would fly around the battlefields and reward the victors in many ways, such as dropping flowers and granting them fame. She was also the divine charioteer. Human parent: Santiago "Nacho" DeSoto, a Mexican drug lord. He was born and raised in Mexico City. At the young age of thirteen, Santiago became caught up in a violent war over a large amount of cocaine. While in the heat of a brawl, he saw a beautiful women standing on a roof; overseeing the clash. He went out of his way to find who (or what) she was. She admitted to being a goddess a few weeks after Lue was born, and Santiago, being a devout Christian, decided to flee to the northern city of Tampico. He continues to hide there today, fearful of what the gods might do to him if he is found. His child is little more than a distraction that he chooses to hide from the world, so she's free to do as she pleases. As long as she's back before sunset, that is. Special abilities: Since her mother is the divine charioteer, Lucia has the ability to pilot any sort of craft -from cars to supersonic jets-. Personality: Lucia tends to leap before she looks, and rarely thinks before saying anything. Having grown up in the upper class, she has a rather spoiled and haughty attitude. She can be very maternal, however, and will never leave a friend behind. She's always loved mythology and history class. Adventuring is also something she enjoys, and no matter how many times she is told not to go someplace, she goes there. Appearance: Because she is Hispanic, Lue has a darker complexion, with wavy chestnut hair that comes down to the nape of her neck and yellow-brown eyes. She often wears a beanie to cover her frizzy hair. The only part of her that resembles her mother is her nose, which is a bit more pointed than most. She likes to wear the colors black and gold, and her wardrobe is filled with black leggings and gold flower-themed jewelry. Many of her shirts and skirts have intricate Greek key patterns running long the collar and hem. She also has a few pairs of jeans. Height: 5 feet, 7 inches (about 170 cm, how I wish America used the metric system) Weight: 125 lbs (~60 kilograms) Hometown: Born in Mexico City, but grew up in Tampico. History: Having a maid for a mother was okay with Lucia, because it meant she always had company. From being a little girl and having all the stuffed animals she could ever want to being a teenager with all the latest gadgets, Lue never needed to wait for anything to come to her. She's always wanted something more though, and that something always drove her to the shore of the Gulf of Mexico to stare out across the sea. There was a little boat that she could take out to sail around in until her father called her in before sunset. He never let her out at night in order to keep her sheltered. She only had a vague idea of where all their money came from, and he was going to keep it that way. Also, Lue has a passion for fishing and sailing. She was born on November 15, 1992. Sample roleplaying passage (to check your literacy.): Something about the sea calmed her. Whenever she would take out that little sailboat her father bought her, it felt like she was born to be part of a seafaring people. Maybe someday she would go up to the United States or Europe. They supposedly had amazing fishing places up there. "Lucia!" a powerful male voice bellowed from the dock she had shoved off from, "Time to come inside!" Glancing up at the sky, Lue let out a drawn out sigh. The puffy white clouds were not tinged with the pinks and oranges of twilight yet, and the eastern horizon showed no traces of midnight blue. She knew that their country was in turmoil, but what could possibly go wrong out in the Gulf? She sighed again, pulling on the rudder of her skiff and cutting a clean arc through the teal blue water. A nice tailwind got caught in her sails, allowing the lithe girl to lie down in her boat. Maybe she would just leave one day. Just take her boat and sail towards those fishing grounds she always read about. Yeah, that would be a fun adventure. 9/17/2010 #26 |
UchihaKamename @ShinyMudkip95: Accepted! :D Feel free to start roleplaying whenever you'd like. Can't wait 'till she gets to Olympus, that'll be fun. 8D 9/17/2010 #27 |
She Who Shines I might never bring this character into play at all, but I thought having a villain under Aphrodite's wing might be fun. I'll bend to your guys' will as to whether or not to use her. If I did, she would probably show up sparingly. Btw, I can't wait to meet these new characters. They sound grand! --- Name: Helena Belle Age: 16-18 Gender: Female Deity Parent(s): Aphrodite Human parent: Harold Belle, an exceedingly handsome (and shady) businessman. He and Aphrodite shared a short period of time together on a 'business trip' (meaning a cruise he had arranged to take with his mistress of the moment, giving excuses of 'work' to his wife) Harold was taking. They met, found the other desirable, and promptly forgot about everything else for the rest of the week.He returned home to his wife after the fact like nothing had happened. Special abilities: Helena cannot control 'true love', but has the ability to make whoever she wants immensely attracted to her, at least on a physical level. She can sense bonds of love and spark romantic moments, moods, and thoughts – she can't actually make things happen, but she can set it up so it is exceedingly likely.Helena is unnaturally strong, with unnaturally good sight and hearing. It isn't a non-human ability, but she is extremely skilled at fighting with long knives. She uses one in each hand and slashes expertly; trained by her mother. Personality: Cruel, conniving, and exceedingly clever just like her father. She was a quiet and fragile thing as a little girl but living with three brothers and a step-mother who truly hated her toughened her up.She's near unbreakable and amazingly clever, an excellent actress and very cold-hearted.The only person she is loyal to is her mother, to whom she behaves like a trained puppy. Appearance: She has very thick blonde hair about to her shoulder blades with perfectly sculpted bangs. Her eyes are soft and wide; just the same color as Ryan's working one. Helena's face is delicate and soft, with a perfect princess nose. She is undoubtedly, blindingly beautiful and knows it, but pretends to be self conscious. Height: 5'2" Weight: 110lbs Hometown: Beverly Hills History: Aphrodite, after birthing her daughter, dumped the baby off on Harold's wife.Helena was so exceptionally beautiful, however, that now and then Aphrodite would check in on her child, who she quickly learned was very powerful for a demigod and decided would be a good ally in the future.Helena grew up in a broken household idolizing Aphrodite and hating her uncaring father, bitter step-mother, and cruel half-brothers. Sample roleplaying passage (to check your literacy.): Well, you know my literacy, so… XD 9/17/2010 . Edited 9/17/2010 #28 |
