My opinions on what?

Villain84

Ok. Here I am. I guess I'll try discussing some of the topics here.

what is yaoi? I don't really understand that term.

And so how many members do we have here?

Okay. That clarifies that. How about Slash?

My, my, it appears that half the year is already gone. :/

On an off-note, would anyone be interested in seeing a Viper/Po (K rated, mind you) one-shot?

You know I've been through a lot of stories, and these are the ones that are counted GOOD ROMANCE STORIES: 1. A lot of the K- to K+ rated ones often don't have that emotion. Ironically some M-rated ones are good, even without lemon. Fantastic, even. 2. 90% of M-rated stories are corrupted by over-dosage of lemon, 50% of the M-rated stories are slash/gay, so usually the above mentioned is that tiny fraction. -.- 3. A small portion of the T rated ones are good and attention-grabbing, but not enough to pull through, in the end. | Basically not many stories here have EMOTION and neither do they concentrate on the characters. This is what readers look for, for characters to empathize with and feel for, to show their emotions by tearing their chest out for the heart to see, in a metaphorical sense. All action but no REAL words make the story unreal, way too fantasy-like. Or at least this is my opinion.

6/21/2011 #7
holospartoi258 - Alpha 01

Exactly. It makes me ask: what is the world coming to? Nowadays all romance stories either don't make sense, are one-night stands or just simply don't have real emotion. This is what counts in true romance stories- EMOTION of the CHARACTERS. Otherwise they might as well be total strangers. One-shots... I'm not often fond of them but basically development is in the canon game/movie/whatever and then you make it work. That's fine, but then again if there are no hints in the real game why would anyone write them? Oh yeah, there're the corrupted ones of which abuse the characters just to make some crappy relationship that is supposed to make sense when it doesn't. Like slash. More often than not slash stories [once you get over the homosexuality] are good, from what I've heard. But let's face it- they're disgusting sometimes. -.-

holospartoi258 - Alpha 01

Agreed, my friend. Love is supposed to be real and not artificial, i.e. a bunch of crap an author puts together for the sake of it. I mean, what is the chance that a character [ in say an animated cartoon] is GAY? What is the chance that a married character [in say a book] would break off in an instant and go to someone else? If you do that PROPERLY and show the trend of emotion and action-reaction to lead up to it AND SUCCEED, then I throw my hat to you. But more often than not the only thing is to give something REASONABLE, two characters' chemistry that actually WORKS rather than thrown together just for fun. UGHHHHHHH...

holospartoi258 - Alpha 01

Um... it's a Glitchpaw mouse from MouseHunt. It was supposed to mean I was on hiatus [and I was] but then it grew on me... :/

Anyways FanFiction. net IS meant for people to 'unleash their imagination' so they decide that it means they can do whatever they want and write whatever they wish... sigh. But the fact is nobody would want to read them, if they're bad. == I myself, though, also have trouble stitching a love story together, but I figured that the only three elements that make it are emotion, character development and realism... I think. :/

6/22/2011 #10
P3MF Alpha 3-Richter

That's not even mentioning the terrible "romance fanfics". Look through here if you wanna see something REALLY bad. Most slash can't touch some of the worse stories listed here...

(shudders)

I agree with Storylover. Emotion, detail, creativity of ideas and originality. All are important, because you want readers to actually be PART of the story itself. Obviously you need a plot that captured the attention of the reader, characters that are real and for readers to feel emotion with, and [for me, I try to do this] a sort of theme about love that is real and people can relate to. The most important thing that a story should have is to capture the attention of the reader and make him feel the emotion in the situation the story depicts. You want the reader to be transported to a whole new realm of cross fantasy-reality, and for the reader to laugh, cry, shake his fist or even blush when a character does something.

6/22/2011 #12
holospartoi258 - Alpha 01

Of course. That's basically what constitutes a good story; to me at least.

Anyways [I'm stating the obvious here] there are some stories that are so horrible that they're plain stupid. I mean is anybody here part of Sonic FanFiction? It seems to me that the yaoi there has outnumbered the straight fics. I'm not kidding. I haven't checked the floundering archives like Harry Potter or Twilight or whatever but seriously. When an archive has more gay fics than straight something has got to be seriously wrong. Some of the straight ones there too are just plain corrupted... I rather not give details because of the rules but you get the point.

6/22/2011 #13
P3MF Alpha 3-Richter

Ugh, I'd rather you don't SL, I've read some stories that I'd REALLY rather not remember. Seriously though, they were just mind-killing fetish dumps more than they were actual stories.

Anyone read any particularily good fics lately though?

6/23/2011 #14
P3MF Alpha 3-Richter

It's short for StoryLover.

Have you seen the list I posted yet? All are prime examples of what NOT to do in a fanfic.

6/23/2011 #15
P3MF Alpha 3-Richter

A Dragon's Love? (Goes off to check)

(comes back) OHHH... THAT one... I don't believe so... The ones listed on the horrible list? They make "a dragon's love" look like something you can show the kids. The stories aren't posted there, but a summary of why they're there. Believe me, they NEED to be there.

I'm not a fan of Backroads or Duchess Delanie...I really don't like them, no offense if you're a fan of theirs.

Hmm...I've just visted The Literate Union. It seems quite helpful for writing, if you can exuse some members for being a little...d*ckish...

P3MF Alpha 3-Richter

It aims to take out illegal (Songfics, chat script, MA-violence or sexual content) fics in FF.net, but they are quite good at providing help for authors and their forums can get quite funny, if albeit a bit mean, but they are good at giving concrit.

Here's a link. http://forum.fanfiction.net/forum/Literate_Union/61196/

What does a flag in the status box mean again?

6/24/2011 #18
P3MF Alpha 3-Richter

By status box, do you mean in in your story, a PM, or what exactly?

6/24/2011 #19
Villain84

I mean in a forum, you know how you have that "status" column next to the title of the topic? Usually its empty, but sometimes a padlock is in that box, meaning that topic is locked. What does the flag mean?

6/24/2011 #20
P3MF Alpha 3-Richter

Sorry for the wait, so apperantly the flag is about the current topics of interest (Newest chat, the introductions scetion, etc).

Hope that was helpful. :3

Oh ok. That makes sense now. Thanks P3.

Well? Come on dude! Tell us your idea already! Or are you maybe going to post in in the free ideas or requests topic? Or are you writing it yourself? Come on! What's the story here (pun intended lol)?

Oh. Nevermind. I see. You wrote it yourself. I'm gonna read it right now.

Roxas, to answer your question about what the world has come to, well the internet follows a simple percentage rule. 60% of the internet is porn. 20% of the internet is search engines like google. 10% of the internet is made up of sites like wikipedia. The last 10% is fansites such as our little glass of tea known as fanfiction, and this site makes up most of the fansite portion. (Un)fortunately, alot of people like lemons in their tea. It's an inescapable fact. Thankfully, there are alot of good writers out there who write lemons, and can provide a story with it. I hate PwP stories [Porn without Plot for those that don't know(anything is possible)]. If I read a PwP then I'm just reading random lemons without a story to read.

6/29/2011 #25
P3MF Alpha 3-Richter

That's pretty much sums it up Dragon. ...XD Silly me, where are my manners.

Welcome to the brotherhood. (of stee-*is punched*)

PWP...it's pretty bland anyway, and according to Sturgeon's Law (90% of everything is crap, if you've not heard it) it's bound to suck considering the odds...

If it's not bad lemons, it's mary sues, if it's not mary sues, it's butchering of the english language, and if it's not that, it's an illegal fanfiction on the site.

BTW...Everyone here knows the fanfictions not allowed on the site, right? (Silly question, but just in case you were wondering what happened to that one fanfic that just disappeared...)

HAHAHAHA! Dude, I was playing fallout 3 a few hours ago!(Libery Prime:Communism detected on American soil! Lethal force engaged!)

Anyways, A cleansing is needed. In the cleansing America would be our first target. We would have to create an uprising within the people of the U.S.A. There's one problem though... The members of the American military sign contracts upon entry that they will protect the government and follow orders without question.

I think the MA limit would be really perverse stuff. Yet, somehow I think that the Guy(s) who run this site don't actually care what's posted.

I while back I discovered that the frequency of most natural disasters is 3-5 years. Either in 2029 or 2033 a large astroid will strike this planet and destroy most of the inhabitants. And then like a pheonix, the survivors will rise from the ashes and instill a new world order. We just have to hope that's the natural disaster that hits us. From the looks of it, earth is staring down several gun barrels. There is a star called Wolf-Ray-Alpha104 in the saggitarius constelation. And, that thing is close to going super nova, and when it does it might just fire a gamma ray burst at our planet which will incinerate what's left of our atmosphere upon impact.

6/30/2011 #28
Lightning Wolf-Jager

We wouldn't need to worry about starvation or mobs. The atmosphere will be gone exposing us to other sources of radiation and destroying our oxygen supply. Most of us would be dead before we hit the ground if we weren't incinerated by the gamma burst.

6/30/2011 #29
Lightning Wolf-Jager

The probability of the human race surviving such an event is very low. It'd be a challenge to stay alive for more than a few minutes oncw the atmosphere is gone. Odds are that this rock we all call home will be a dead planet after such an event.
