But usually, he had to deal with drug smugglers and corporate espionage - not two nobodies from the Rim who had gotten caught up in what might be an accident or might be something more, according to the briefing. "I've been wanting to talk to you for a while. Do you have the time?" "Of course. Just to talk, or do we need to go to the infirmary?" Simon's eyes twinkle mischievously. "I find my patients are the most at ease with doctor-patient confidentiality when in a more official setting."

"You find my sister and me unnerving, yet you married Chaos?" Death, Simon, sounds amused and Mal wants to jump out the airlock, the cold outside be damned.

She watches Brother save those who need him in two ways: he walks them to the afterlife when there is no choice, and he saves them when there is a choice. He takes his bag and fixes them, giving them back to her and she loves him for it.

Mal has barely taken five steps up the ramp before he's forced to pause, the thin column of black and glint of red in his periphery freezing him in his tracks. He looks at the column and it turns into a thin young man with lily-white skin and eyes hidden behind round red glasses and Mal is as sure as rock is hard, that he is looking Death in the face.

When their precious cargo is stolen, the crew of Serenity pursues the thieves, looking to reclaim it at all costs. River is looking to reclaim a missing color. Or, Mal throws a punch at Jayne, and everything goes downhill from there. (Rated T, but beware a single F-bomb from Jayne).

With Mal and Simon away on a mission, and Jayne sick in bed, the women are left on Serenity, caught in a storm and searching for new beginnings.

Post BDM - Set several weeks after Miranda, Inara has yet to decide what she is going to do.

After the Heart of Gold debacle Mal and Inara both take time considering what has happened, or could happen, between them. Aka: What if Mal had asked Inara not to leave?

River returns to the ship. Simon doesn't.
