When their precious cargo is stolen, the crew of Serenity pursues the thieves, looking to reclaim it at all costs. River is looking to reclaim a missing color. Or, Mal throws a punch at Jayne, and everything goes downhill from there. (Rated T, but beware a single F-bomb from Jayne).

With Mal and Simon away on a mission, and Jayne sick in bed, the women are left on Serenity, caught in a storm and searching for new beginnings.

Post BDM - Set several weeks after Miranda, Inara has yet to decide what she is going to do.

After the Heart of Gold debacle Mal and Inara both take time considering what has happened, or could happen, between them. Aka: What if Mal had asked Inara not to leave?

River returns to the ship. Simon doesn't.

"He ain't the only medic in the verse, Zoë." She hums her assent, but it's not an assentive sort of hum and he's sensing she ain't done yet. Takes her a bit before she answers. "Not sure we're looking to find ourselves a medic who don't wanna save people, is all."

Simon has a drunken slip of the tongue that's not so easy to take back. Mal suffers, and Zoë enjoys it. Always and forever, the doctor's heart beats through River.

Simon and Kaylee have an argument that threatens their relationship, and Simon gets advice from the women of Serenity. More Kaylee/Simon fluffiness. References the movie and "Leaves on the Wind."

Once aboard Serenity, Simon begins a secret correspondence with his father. Their letters start out formal and distant, but as the exchanges continue, love overtakes pride and Simon comes to find in his father the confidant he so desperately needs as River and he struggle to survive in the Black.

It's been a while since Miranda, and those aboard Serenity are all paired up nicely, except for two. Jayne Cobb is definitely seeing River Tam in a whole new light.
