I've noticed that Perry usually brought Della along with him whenever he investigated a crime scene. In this story, not only does this happen, but Della gets her feet wet!

Della asks Perry to critique a short story she's written.

This time, an old friend of Perry's daughter reaches out to Perry about having to stay at a friend's house and nobody had any guest rooms. One day, Perry's friend asks him to solve another from George Mason, and turned it down, and gives somebody else the case as a test. Mystery will be later in the story.

Why are the Mason kids so glum on Christmas Day?
