Author has written 9 stories for Mortal Instruments.
HELLO THERE! For those of you who have been in The Mortal Instruments FF community since 2013-14, then you’d probably know me as xxmadworldreveriexx. This, however, is a completely brand new account that I've created for myself because I wanted a fresh, clean slate for myself as a writer on this site.
I write only for The Mortal Instruments fandom, though I also enjoy reading stories from the Star Wars fandom (Excuse my SW fangirling for a moment: I absolutely adore AU stories that explore Luke and Vader's father-son relationship and also Vader/Anakin's redemption stories. Pairings I love from Star Wars include Anakin/Padme and Luke/Mara, and other characters include Obi-Wan, Ahsoka and Capt Rex. I respect Han/Leia as a canon, though I don't necessarily go crazy over them).
Back to The Mortal Instruments... I am a Clace shipper, period, so any stories I write will involve this coupling. Aside from the books, I also loved the movie (still can't get over why there are people who didn't like it; I thought the actors portrayed the characters well, and in my opinion, the movie was better than the TV show. No hate).
MY RULES AS A WRITER:
If you follow my stories, you would know that most of my stories will be rated either a K or T. The ones that do merit an M rating will be because of some (minimal) coarse language, or violence, or because it deals with some dark or sensitive themes. I will NOT write any lemons, and will strive to be as tasteful as possible in my writing. I humbly ask that you respect that these are the rules that I choose to abide by. At the end of the day, I have a duty to myself first to always ensure that what I write does not go against my personal values and what I am comfortable with.
With all that said, allow me to make myself clear on an issue I absolutely cannot tolerate: PLAGIARISM.
Anyone who has attempted it, or is thinking about plagiarizing, I just want you to think about this:
Every action has a consequence. Every person has feelings. Writers put in tons of effort to produce content based on their own imaginations or things that have inspired them… Do NOT take these writers for granted. Always give credit where it is due. Stealing is never honorable. It's violating. It's disrespectful. It's downright hurtful. Put yourself in the other's shoes.
Or perhaps imagine this scenario:
You had just finished writing an amazing novel, but by some stroke of bad luck, you misplaced your laptop, that has all the original files of your work on it. You didn't back up any of your work elsewhere. That's it. All your hard work is gone. You report your missing laptop, but it was never successfully recovered. Months or a few short years later, you come across a novel in the bookstore. A novel that had been written by you, but published under someone else's name. It might not be on the top 10 bestsellers list but still—it is YOUR book, but someone else had stolen it. Someone else is making a profit out of YOUR hard work. How would you feel?
Let that simmer in your mind.
I know that might have sounded harsh, and before anyone misunderstands my meaning, I must clarify that the scenario mentioned above is merely an example. I have experienced firsthand what it feels like to have my work plagiarized, although admittedly not (and hopefully never) to such an extent. I certainly wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.
ONE FINAL NOTE...
My main reason for returning to FF now is not so much as to write new stories, but rather to stake my claim on the stories I have spent a painstaking amount of hours, days, weeks, months, years, on writing and previously published on this site.
Being more grown up now and having a more mature perspective on life as well as a greater awareness of myself and my values, I have to admit that a lot of my initial enthusiasm when it comes to writing has been replaced with wary and caution. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as I’ve come to realize. I am just more careful about the kind of stories I put up now, editing them ever so thoroughly, because I want them to reflect well on myself as both a writer and a person. And above all, I want my stories to have meaning and positive takeaways for my readers :)
Before I end off this note, I’d like to remind everyone (myself, first and foremost) of the importance of practicing respect and kindness wherever you have a platform to express yourself. With already so much hatred and enmity going on in this world, it is important to remember that it is not for any of us to vilify and cast aspersions on anyone or any group of people due to whatever differences we might have with each other—be it a difference of opinion, culture, race, religion, etc. We have a right to stand by our personal convictions and beliefs, but we must also respect that others have that same right.
Unity requires a great deal of tolerance and respect. Perhaps, a way we can achieve that is not by laser-focusing on where the differences lie, but rather, on what we share in common. Kindness, compassion, love, charity, respect, forgiveness, regard for human life—these are common values that I believe are preached by every community. Let’s do our best to refrain from criticizing and judging others, especially if it’s just in the name of ‘proving a point’. Rather, let’s strive to look at one another through the eyes of compassion and mercy, while also bearing in mind our own shortcomings and limitations.
None of us are perfect, but everyone of us carries the intrinsic potential for goodness. Create opportunities for peace, love, justice and kindness, not division, oppression and hate.
To all my readers who have shown me love and support in my writing journey... I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart :)
