"I'm like the painter with his nose to the canvas, fussing over details. Gazing from a distance, the reader sees the big picture." — Steven Saylor
Details: My name is Melanie, but friends know me as Mel. Student, always lost in thought; a daydreamer, voracious reader, and aspiring writer all in one.
I write for myself these days with a long-term goal in mind — to accomplish an old childhood dream: [eventual] publication of an original piece of literature of my own creation. However, I am always looking to improve my style, and so constructive criticism will always be accepted and encouraged.
I write when time permits, so updates will more than likely always be sporadic. Please keep this in mind. Thank you for your patience.
Likes: Reading, writing, learning new things, corny jokes, napping, people watching, philosophy, and psychology.
Fandoms: I dabble in quite a few. It's been a few years, but I cannot seem to steer clear of the NARUTO fandom. It is still very much the focus of current and future projects at this time.
Pairings: To be blunt, I ship chemistry. It shouldn’t be too surprising for me to admit that I tend to favor crack ships more than canon.
I will never understand the stories where one character is written poorly (and very much OOC) to make another look good and more “attractive” to the main protagonist. I detest any kind of slut shaming and character bashing in any form. I am of the opinion it showcases a lack of maturity in the author as well as a great lack of wisdom and insightfulness.
What else? I’m a big fan of friendships because friendship is magic! Big emphasis on female friendships. Always. I really like stories that emphasize family dynamics whether it is between blood relations or not. I honestly will read anything be it yaoi, yuri, or traditional het. Hell, I even entertain the occasional ot3 from time to time. I like to keep an open mind about such things. As long as there’s character development and quality writing, I’m all for giving it a try.
I think the only thing I tend to steer clear of is incest because well, no. It’s not my cup of cocoa at all.
I especially admire the writers who take two fictional characters and bring them to life.
In other words, I love reading stories that showcase the realistic build-up of both conventional and unconventional relationships. Those stories that teach an important lesson: that partners in a relationship are rarely true equals. That relationships of any kind are never one hundred percent perfect, and there will always be an unpredictable give-and-take aspect to them. That there are many different types of love and that there is no right or wrong situation.
It is something I feel very strongly about.

I currently have one story in progress.
A Fistful of Silence: It started off as a one-shot, but will be continued. I am currently in the process of making edits to the first chapter. I had had an outline of the second chapter written long ago, but it has been unfortunately lost. Thus, it's time to change things up a bit.
1. Get in touch with Hermionechan90.
2. Post new cover artwork by EvaBeeSmith of Matsu. Don't forget to credit/advertise how awesome Eva is!
3. Gdoc it up with revisions! Revisions everywhere.
4. Consider enlisting the help of a beta at some point. Figure out where to find one somehow.
5. Outline the second chapter. Begin writing said chapter. (Don't force the words. Let them flow naturally.)
