YAY! I finally wrote a story. Thank you all who have read it. I might do a sequel, what do you think? Does anyone have any suggestions for a sequel? I'm fresh out of ideas and a writers block.

Reading Recommendations Corner!

A Second Chance at Life by Miranda Fairgold

When Voldemort's assassins find him Harry flees seeking a place to prepare for the battle. Bloodmagic, wandlessmagic, necromancy, fae, a thunderbird, demons, vampires. Harry finds the strength & allies to win a war. Singularly unique fic. (Authors Summary)

If you like a good Harry Potter AU I would recommend this story. Not your typical AU and it has many ideas that I've never seen done before and new twists to ideas I have seen. A very good read, but be warned this is a pretty long chapter story (about 30 chapter I think?) and the chapters a pretty long, in fact this is a novel length story. This is the first part of a trilogy and the author has finished the second part (Changes in a Time of War) and has started the third part (A Magical World). Also be warned she only updates about once or twice a month give or take, but her long chapters make up for the wait.

On a scale of 1 - 5 (1 being the worst) I'd give this story a 5. This is one of the best stories I've ever read, especially for an AU and for a multiple chapter story it is written very well (especially since she doesn't use a beta) and she has a good balance between how many chapters she has and how long those chapters are.

Harry is training in bloodmagic/necromancy, he is becoming a basilisk with a thunderbird's soul, there's a plague in europe, demons are about to invade Earth, and Voldemort needs to die. Fae, vampires, new magics and school (Author's Summary)

A Magical World Last fic in the trilogy! Demons invaded Earth intent on enslaving all magical life. But they miscalculated...the Earthling's magic is stronger than they suspected, and far more dangerous. Now the survivors regroup in the new magical world, to fight back. (Author's Summary)

Embers by Vathara

This is a very good Avatar: The Last Airbender AU. It focuses more on Zuko and Iroh after they start making their way to Ba Sing Se as refuges. The rest of the story kind of explodes from there. The author does a very good job at keeping the story interesting while going into the logistics of how the genocide of the air temples, the separation of the nations and elements, the war in general, and many other canon things would all work together, in a manner that is both logically accurate and, as far as the Avatar universe goes, historically accurate. She does a good job at taking real historic facts and figures, and myths and legends and interpreting them into the Avatar universe so that the make sense with some key canon points as well as real historical points. Things don't happen fast, but not slow either, and it is very detailed so this is not a story for people who don't really care about details. It's not finished yet, though it does have 38 chapters (as of 10/18/10). The chapters tend to get longer the further in you get.

On a scale of 1- 5 (1 is worst) I'd give it a 5. This is a long ongoing story, the kind of story I like, but is also detailed, so you're not just getting adventure chapters, then filler chapters. All the chapters have something in them, though you may not know it till later. It also focuses and Zuko and how his actions and their consequences may not be all bad, and at the same time how Aang's actions, and the consequences of them, may not be all good. It is very good and detailed and most of all interesting and it makes you think about how all actions have consequences, good or bad and how, as the author says, there are no excuses, there are reasons, but no excuses.
