As I'm not a writer I doubt anyone will look at this but just in case… I know how much work writers put into getting their characters to sound authentic, so here goes with some Brit-picking!

UK uses pounds and pence, not Euros.

UK uses miles and mph/mpg, not km.

UK more likely to say 'a pound of apples' than 'half a kilo', or 'a pint of milk' than 'half a litre' especially when the original stories were set. Height is in feet and inches (5'6" or five foot six) weight in stones (9 stone, 8 and a half stone, just over 8 stone, and we say it singular not plural). Not 55kg or 120lb.

We have milk in tea, not cream. No one 'creams their tea', they 'have it with milk'. Usually milk in coffee too, unless it's at a hotel or posh restaurant then you might be offered cream with coffee. If in doubt then stick with milk.

UK uses cutlery and crockery, not silverware and flatware.

UK uses maths NOT math for mathematics.

UK pants = underpants, not trousers.

Girls wear pants or knickers, not panties, which just sounds creepy.

UK uses curtains, not drapes.

UK uses wardrobes, not closets.

UK uses shops, not stores. A storeroom is where things are stored and a shop is where people go shopping. Also shop window, not store front.

Also, shop assistants, supermarket cashiers, bank cashiers or bank tellers, not clerks.

UK uses dustbins not dumpsters.

UK uses pavements, not sidewalks and there's no such thing as jaywalking. Cross the road where you want. It's a free country.

UK houses have gardens, not yards, no matter how small or whether it has grass or is paved, front or back. It's still a garden.

We don't have stoops. Porches are usually small - not much wider than the front door or hallway, just to shelter from the rain while unlocking the door.

Basements are VERY unusual, even in old houses. Really not a thing here.

WE DON'T HAVE RACCOONS OR SKUNKS OR CHIPMUNKS AS WOODLAND CREATURES! Seriously, that one really brings you out of a British based story. No poison ivy in the UK either.

We don't worry about rabies - it's been eradicated here since 1922. If you get scratched/bitten by a dog or fox you'd get a tetanus jab. Also note jab (or jag if character is Scottish) not shot/shots.

Talking of shots, guns are not an issue here. The police aren't armed, security guards aren't armed, people do not have guns at home (unless they are farmers and they'd have shotguns for protecting livestock from dogs). Handguns/pistols have been illegal since 1996 on mainland U.K. We have REALLY strict gun legislation. A criminal is MUCH more likely to carry a knife than a gun.

WE DO NOT PAY FOR HEALTHCARE. It comes out of our taxes (taxes are automatically deducted from our monthly payslip). We do not get a bill which we claim back - no bills. If you chose to have elective surgery at a private hospital, with private insurance, then yes, but not emergency surgery, not surgery at a general hospital, not cancer treatment.

No one worries about paying for prescription medication (either free or around 10 quid/pounds for 1-3 months supply). Kids don't pay for medication or glasses or opticians appointments (this comes up a lot as to why the Dursley's won't replace Harry's broken glasses/doctors appointments/emergency care for broken bones/painkillers. It would all be free). A rich wizard offering to cover 'all medical bills' just doesn't make sense. If your St Mungo's runs on payment per treatment, that would be a surprise for a muggleborn/muggle raised child, not the default assumption.
