UPDATE APRIL 13, 2015:
I want to apologize to ALL of my readers.
After my last update, I wrote a one-shot for the Akatsuki no Yona fandom...and then succumbed to the winter funk. That's all I have done in the last three months. I suffer from seasonal depression, and weaned of the meds quite a few years ago. But this winter made me consider going back ON them. No creative flow whatsoever. Not with writing, not with my music...NOTHING. Then Spring and my bday hit last month, and within a week I was thrust into "Do all the things, all the time" mode.
EVERYTHING is still on temporary hiatus, as I slowly get my mojo back and get over this f'ing cold. I will let everyone know as I near a publishing status.
In (barely) active writing mode: My Ouran, Psycho-Pass and Noragami pieces. (eventual dabbling w/ DTB, FMA, but my IY & KH stuff is on indefinite hiatus.)
*MY BETA READING IS STILL ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. PLEASE JUST DON'T EVEN ASK.*
Current manga-reading endeavors: Akatsuki no Yona, AOT/SNK, Kamisama Hajimemashita, Noragami, Magi, Tokyo Ghoul.
Current IRL craziness: Hemlok is still in songwriting (and RECORDING) mode with two gigs in May; Worked tech last weekend at Anime Boston, A WHOLE LOTTA KARAOKE (gigs), and two choir groups that I assist with. (like I said: "Do ALL the things...")
Current listenings: Boris, Ling Tosite Sigure (and TK's solo stuff), Sigur Ros, Bjork, Incubus, Radiohead, Shigatsu OSTs, PP OST, Zankyou no Terror OST, Noragami OST, SNK OST.
Current/Recent Watching: Akatsuki no Yona, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, Kamisama Hajimemashita 2, Durarara!, SNK: No regrets, Death Parade, Tokyo Ghoul Root A, Deadman Wonderland, Kekkai Sensen (new!), Arslan Senki (also new!).
BIGGEST RECENT DISTRACTION: Dragon Age: Inquisition!! I finally succumbed, needing a change of pace in late February. I haven't played a game since Skyrim, 3 years ago. Solavellan is my personal CANON. (Of COURSE I was an Elven mage, what ELSE would I be on my first play-through? lol) I am almost done with it. Just have to fight Corypheus...It's the last battle. Then (I already know) that I lose my love...(TAT)
Follow me on Tumblr! Bellevoix321 (general blog, MOSTLY Anime and J-rock), and KarameUmmei (Specifically for all my shipping: Fanworks, AMVs, etc...Spoilers and mixed bag of ships, Het, Yaoi, Yuri, etc.) I also post updates for fics there too.
Any questions? Feel free to message me!
Peace Love and FANFICTION!!!
I'm an open book. It's how I live my life.
With that said, being an adult with limited time, 2 Jobs, a house and a band, I do what I can with the time I've got.
*TO READERS: On behalf of ALL writers...Whether you love or hate something that was written, You should always take time to let the authors that something they wrote affected you. Feedback is so important to the writers, both positive reinforcement and constructive criticisms! I've been talking to a lot of authors about this, and we are discouraged that no one seems to care enough to even say "Hey I really like that part when..." or "You what irked me about that scene where..." If you are a fellow writer, then you already know what I'm talking about. And I know it's just a general issue that everyone's reading and not responding, even to GOOD stories. It's not that hard. Leave the authors some LOVE, and encourage them to keep writing those stories that you love so much! It's writers' KARMA!
Check out my band HEMLOK!!! Our second album, "A Cautionary Tale" is AVAILABLE ON iTunes!!! (I am the violinist, keys, and backing vox on this album) Wanna check out our sound? go to: reverbnation. com/ hemlok (We are also on FB.)
Bonjour, Hola and Konnichiwa! My name's Bri. Ever since Nintendo hit the U.S. Market, you couldn't pry the controller out of my hands, and you can't even now, over twenty five years later. As a gamer, I prefer RPGs: Elder Scrolls, Zelda, Fable, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts. As much as I love Nintendo, I became a PS girl.
Back in 1999 I started writing FanFic, because a.) I was obsessed with the X-Files and Harry Potter b.) It was way more fun to write fics than a 10 page paper in college! I didn't find FFnet until about 9 years ago during my Kingdom Hearts phase, when I was dying for some closure..
For the last five years, I've gotten back an old love: ANIME. Back when I was a little kid (5-ish?) I watched the original VOLTRON series and It was one of my first conscious TV obsessions. I had a Sailor Moon moment in my early/mid teens and a brief Pokemon phase in early college when it first hit the US market, but it passed. But now, the Otaku bug bit hard, and it's lodged there for good.
I tend to be a 'Shipper when I write...I prefer not to stray too far from original plot canon and/or character make-up and the evolution thereof, too. But I get so focused on the relationships between the characters. A sappy romantic, what can I say?
My advice to all of you aspiring writers out there. If you want to write well, read well. Think of the books you've read, and the language they use: Vocabulary, Expression, Descriptive style, etc. Make your readers, think, feel, taste, smell, and see what you and the characters do!
This may make me sound like a snob, but...I can't read half the fiction on this site because it's either carelessly written, or incredibly far-fetched. I feel that the most believable and relatable fanfic stays true to the characters and the evolution thereof within the original story! Think of what qualities they possess that made you love them, or how they may have changed, evolve over the course of their original stories. *shrugs* TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR WORK AND CARE ABOUT YOUR WRITING!
Age: 30-something *cough* (but always a kid at heart...I will never give up my video games or cartoons!)
Location: The armpit of New England, LOL
Occupation: Music is my LIFE!!!! I wear many hats: Instructor, Performer, Director, Writer, Entertainer, DJ/KJ/MC...
Hobbies: Gaming, Reading, Writing, Anime, and Languages (Bilingual English/French, mediocre Spanish & Portuguese, a little Italian, and now my new project: NIHONGO!!! err...Japanese)
Fave Current (non-anime)TV Shows: South Park, Family Guy, starting to get into Game of Thrones and Orange is the New Black.
Fave Past TV Shows: X-Files, Animaniacs, Darkwing Duck (anything 90's Disney), Stargate, Grey's Anatomy.
Music: Big J-rock advocate. Ling Tosite Sigure, Radwimps, Asian Kungfu Generation, GACKT, VAMPS, L'arc en ciel, Boris, Mono, D'espairsRay, MUCC, TMR, Dir En Grey, Abingdon Boys School, The Pillows. JROCK FTW! This is going to be difficult to summarize... Being a singer and musician, I am a sucker for good orchestral arrangements used in pop, rock or neo-classical realms. I love electronic music that is full of detail and layers, with and without vocals (any type of house or techno). I've been listening to a LOT of J-rock lately. But IDC what language it's in. If it's good, I'll listen! Some of my fave artists: BJORK, Utada Hikaru, Incubus, Radiohead. I also like classic rock and modern blues/jam rock like Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, YES, Phish, DMB...the kind of stuff that evolves as you listen to it, y' know? I love good vocal harmonies...and there is a lil known band that I love for that: Toad the Wet Sprocket. I also have fallen in love with the works of Kaoru Wada and Yoko Kanno. Other faves: Evanescence, Stone Temple Pilots, Alanis Morrisette, Heart, Jamiroquai, the B-52's, old-school Madonna, I listen to and enjoy MOST forms of music (including classical, jazz, and traditional world musics)... anything but country (with a handful of exceptions) and most recent hip-hop.
Movies: Check these out for some amazing script writing: Pulp Fiction, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Crash, Memories (by Akira's Katsuhiro Otomo) Harry Potter series (books & Movies), ANYTHING Disney, ANYTHING Miyazaki, Paprika (Satoshi Kon), Akira, Star Wars, LOTR,...honorable mentions just 'cause: Ace Ventura Pet Detective 1&2, South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut, Half-Baked, The Big Lebowski, The Matrix Trilogy.
Anime: (for brevity's sake I am naming my top 10 All-time fave Anime, and then adding through my top 20. I have watched ENTIRELY TOO MUCH anime to name them all anymore. No I haven't watched the BIG THREE. It's entirely too much to take on. My ranking/prefs are based on writing/plot, character development, humanity/emotional factors, intellectual capacity, and quality of animation.)

Why I love being a Dork: Because a dork stays young at heart, always finding joy in the little, seemingly stupid, things. I still dye my hair bright red from time to time, and rock out rainbow colored anything or be a hippie chick and wear sandals for three seasons, and I will never care! I may learn to manage life as an adult, and continue acquire wisdom through life's experiences...but I will always hold dear the things that truly have made me happy my whole life: Friends, Music, and Sharing. Never stop Sharing.
Hey! you read through my profile! Dude, you rock! Thanks for taking the time to get to know whose writing you're reading!
Peace, Love and Fiction!!!
