After the war, Downton Abbey is in danger of financial ruin. Robert comes up with a seemingly perfect plan: Sybil will marry Larry Grey to save the estate. But there is one problem: Sybil does not love Larry — instead she is in love with Tom Branson, the socialist chauffeur. AU. Tom/Sybil.

Meanwhile, Mary is wrestling with her relationship with Carlisle and trying to understand her feelings for Matthew. Together, she and Matthew begin a journey of healing.

Matthew comes home from war badly shellshocked, while Mary is reeling from the publication of her scandal. They both need to escape and heal. Perhaps, they can do so together.

Starts at the beginning of Series 2. Matthew was on leave in London, with Lavinia, and he runs into Mary. One moment of passion leads to a Long string of problems for both Mary and Matthew, And maybe perhaps one really good thing.

It not only paints a picture of the soulmates' happy reunion but their struggle to come to terms with the lives they led when neither knew the other existed. Also solves mystery of Matthew's survival.

After declaring almost everything about them was all wrong, can they possibly find a way back to make it all right? A Mary and Matthew modern AU saga. When Patrick dies on the Titanic, Mary is left as his widow, and Robert is left without an heir. He finds an heir in Matthew Crawley, who he pushes into a marriage with Sybil. There is a glaring problem in this arrangement; Sybil is in love with the chauffeur and Matthew is in love with Sybil's sister.

This is the second part of my original tale that details the events that took place on New Year's Eve, 1922 that transform Mary Crawley's life as well as that of many others at Downton. It goes hand in hand with "Patient #9, only this time we see Matthew Crawley's return to his home and family from his wife's point of view. This plausibly brings Matthew back.

On a small Island in Scotland an injured soldier returns home to heal his body and soul, but little does he know that his recovery is in the hands of an unknown friend. Begins in the Summer of 1945.

So Mary has married Henry, and is having her happily ever after. What if one hell of a monkey wrench was thrown into the mix in the form of Matthew Crawley alive? Yes, I am revisiting the amnesia angle but with more marital angst and much less aka ZERO physical assault and torture. This is a straight "what if Matthew didn't die and turns up in 1927 after Mary has married Henry?"

It's 1970. Come with Tom as he takes his granddaughters on a visit to Downton where he'll reminisce about his life there, Sybil and the Crawleys. This story, however, focuses on Mary Crawley's life that New Year's Eve as she learns just how strong the bond of love is and discovers that miracles can happen.

AU Matthew marries a very much alive Lavinia, and the show that flopped keeps flopping and the dance they danced keeps playing in their heads. Mary realizes she is not the only girl in the world, but a girl he once knew and decides to do the unexpected. While Mary comes back to life, Matthew realizes what he's given up.
