Hi there. It's 2022. I've had this account for sixteen years now and I'm too nostalgic to delete anything or even scrap my old profile text. Truly, what a time capsule for a cringy teenage fanfiction writer becoming a cringy 20-something, now a (still cringy) 30-something.
I'm on AO3 these days (same username), but for some reason I felt like coming back to FFnet to crosspost some stuff. Even if I have no idea how much longer FFnet will last.
Main interest currently:
Invisible Inc.
I still have a soft spot for Good Omens though. Always will.
I also make art. You can check it out here or here.
-- UPDATE: NOVEMBER 21st, 2017: READ THIS FIRST BEFORE SENDING PM --
Okay, it is time for a huge PSA. As you may have noticed, I haven't been active on anymore. College life has been keeping me busy and in a semi-permanent state of burnout, and AO3 has become my main fanfic platform, so I simply haven't had the time to log into and keep it active, let alone answer reviews or PMs. Also, I actually haven't been writing much fic and focusing on RPing instead. Nevertheless, for more up to date stuff, check out my AO3 profile instead at http:///users/Hekateras if you want to find newer fic more reliably and/or get in touch with me for some reason. Like any fanfic author, I love reviews and it pains me to leave them unanswered, but I'm simply too absent-minded and busy these days to maintain two fanfic platform presences at the same time, and I like AO3 more.
Now, because I feel simply terrible logging into my inbox here to find messages I'd left unanswered for years, a short FAQ:
Q: Can I make fanart of your fic / can I make a podcast of your fic / can I translate your fic to [insert language] and post it elsewhere and share it with the community there?
A: Yes. Yes, PLEASE. Please do that. Nothing would make me happier. As long as you give me credit and link back to me and make it clear what your own input was, you can basically do anything you like. I am a strong believer in collaborative work and being inspired by others and inspiring others in turn. You literally don't even need to ask me for permission, just do it - in fact, you probably shouldn't ask me for permission, as there is a strong chance I will never get back to you because I sometimes fail to log in for years at a time. When you do it, though, please DO send me a message and let me know where to find it. Even if I see it years later, it will probably make my day.
That was it. I did say it would be short. At least it was going to be short before I started rambling
Carry on, you fantastic people. I'll still TRY to log in once in a while and maybe even post something new here but I've outlined the reliability of that situation.
I'll leave the old profile description up for the sake of posterity. ("Currently means 20 years old". HAH. That was like six years ago... Boy I haven't updated this thing in a while.)
Overdue profile update! Wow, I can't believe how long and rambling this thing was previously. If you're reading this, you want to know who I am. I was born 1991, which currently means 20 years old, female, nihilistic. I draw, I read, I write, though the latter not so much lately. My art is on . I study ecology at college. English is a second language for me, so if anything I write feels weird, well, there's my excuse. On that note, I also speak Russian, German and French, so feel free to contact or review in either of those. (Might want to go easy on the French, though...)
I like fantasy and RPGs and elves and compelling drama. In stories, I look for logic, coherence, plausibility, and intelligent exploration of morality and psychology, which is just fancy speak for "dislike black&white morality and like interesting and believable characters".
My favourite fandoms include the Neverwinter Nights and Dragon Age series, the Order of the Stick webcomic, and the Elder Scrolls series. And, apparently, BBC's Sherlock. Damn, it's awesome.
"Trial by Fire"? Yeah, indefinite hiatus, though I still hope to finish it someday. Mostly I've lost track of what I want the story to end like. At the time I started it, I wanted a Happy Ending sort of Mainquest fic, but that's been making less and less sense as I've progressed. Once I've decided definitely what the story is *about, philosophically, I'll come back to it.
"The Art of Trolling" has unexpectedly spawned a Russian and a Chinese translation and a Chinese sequel (apparently caused by "OMG Sherlock is so cruel why won't he tell Moriarty he's alive?" reactions. :) ) Links: (Russian http:///sherlockbbc/p172084437.htm?oam#more1) (Chinese http:///viewthread.php?tid=35849 Registration required) (Chinese sequel: http:///viewthread.php?tid=35964)
Full Circle is a 31k word Good Omens fanfiction series that spawned uncontrollably out of a malicious little plot bunny in the night about the events and consequences of a final Apocalypse. It consists of And So We Come Full Circle, Feathers and Coils, Refuge (Interlude), To Infinity, and Safe (Epilogue). I strongly recommend you read the series on AO3 (http:///series/21055), since that version includes illustrations and links to further material and fanart in the comments.
If you read something of mine, I beg you humbly, REVIEW. Like or dislike? Word use? Pacing? Purple prose? Characterisation? Reviews are like sunlight - not regularly essential, but go too long without, and you get depressed.
