![]() Author has written 1 story for Ranma. Utor vestri vox futurus ridiculum per penitus... 06/24/10: Yes, I know how long it has been. No, the story has not been abandoned, unless you readers have decided to abandon it yourself. Which I wouldn't blame you. Fact is, life got really busy around the middle of writing chapter 19. It's almost finished, but I rarely have time to sit down and write; when I do, I can only manage a few lines or a paragraph or, if I'm lucky, a full page. Things should, if I'm lucky, slow down on the real-world front soon, and then I can get my focus back on writing. The good news is, that in this brief, unexpected hiatus, I have become a much better writer. Maybe that can make up for the lack of chapters... The Random Crap Section I am a twenty-four year old art-school dropout who has come to realize he prefers to write about characters he's drawn, instead of simply drawing them. Also, getting kicked out of art school kind of has a tendency to kill the artistic drive. Thus, my writing hobby has come to the forefront, and has miraculously remained there for several years now. I write original stories as well, although you people will never see them unless I happen to get them published; in terms of fanfiction, I write Ranma 1/2 fics, mostly because it's the series I know best and find I can do the most with. I prefer to focus on plot and character development over anything else. I'm not afraid to let horrible things happen to my characters if it's required for the story and the development of the characters. I'm also a spelling/grammer nazi. It's alright if it looks like an honest mistake, but if I see a story were it's obvious the author didn't give a crap, I refuse to even continue reading it. I also dislike clichés in fanfiction. I refuse to read anything, for example, in which Ranma is trapped as a girl or, even worse, decides to live as a girl of his own free will, as I find the idea has been done to death - not to mention it takes a lot at this point to make it plausible. Only exception, of course, is if the author is good, and the plot is as original and compelling as possible. I'm not against Ranma accepting his curse, but I do find it irksome when people take every single excuse they can find to trap him in it. This is the same reason I don't like Ranma/Akane matchups. It's done so bloody often, and so bloody badly, that unless it's a truly phenomenal story, I refuse to read it out of sheer boredom. If Akane hits Ranma with a mallet every other scene, and the two of them fight at the drop of a hat, and then, all of a sudden, without any changes in how they act, they declare their love for each other, that is not a good story. When it comes to match-ups, I tend to let it happen naturally in the story, through how the characters end up interacting with each other. A few times, I've tried to start a story with a pairing in mind, only to find the two characters had no chemistry whatsoever (at least in that particular story). I have a fondness for lesser-seen match-ups in fanfiction, and would love to see more Ranma/Hinako or even a well-done Ranma/Akari. I'd also like to see more originality when it comes to hooking Ranma up with a crossover girl - Rei Hino, off the top of my head, doesn't get near enough of the pigtailed boy. My stories tend to be rather long - one of my pre-readers has referred to my writing style as 'Epic', which I like - and to some people, possibly full of unimportant aspects. I disagree, of course - what they see as unimportant is usually character development and flavour. I also have a fondness for original characters and ensemble casts in general - basically, I like to have a lot of characters to work with, and a decent portion of them will likely be original. (More whenever I get around to it...) Stories I'm currently working on: Evolution 1/2 - Eighteen chapters complete. Chapter Nineteen currently twenty percent complete. Acolytes: An Evolution 1/2 side-series - First chapter sixty-five percent complete.
