![]() Author has written 3 stories for Sense and Sensibility, Harry Potter, and X-Files. September 2011 - I'm a long-time fic reader and regular writer but have never been brave enough to post my own work before. A recurring desperate desire for feedback on my writing finally convinced me to begin posting my completed pieces in hopes that positive response will encourage me to finish some of the other things I've got started. I'm a wife and a mother and I'm getting older faster than I want to. I probably spend too much time reading and not enough time cleaning the house, though I'll deny the reading too much part if asked outright. I can't deny that I'm a poor housekeeper. Thank goodness I can blame that deficiency on the amount of hours I spend working at my paying job. My first published work is a re-write of Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austin. I was motivated to write this primarily because I adore Colonel Brandon and think Marianne didn't deserve to get him in the end. So I changed the ending to suit my preference, which is, I believe, the reason Fan Fiction exists in the first place! Fans of this story will recognize that I combined elements from the original book, as well as components from both the Hollywood version of this movie and the BBC miniseries (which totally rocks). I apologize to any purists who I've offended by messing with this story. But really, you have to admit Marianne is a selfish, thoughtless girl who, though she learned her lesson in the end, does not deserve the adoration and devotion of our Colonel Brandon. No, I'm not obsessed. Really, I'm not! My true fan fiction favorite read is Harry Potter with a Hermione/Severus pairing, which I might be coerced into confessing I read obsessively, when not forced to control my habit. I have a thing for Severus, that poor, neglected, overlooked outcast. Who wouldn't, aside from his heartless creator, the ingenious J.K. Rowling? I'm still not speaking to her after her travesty of an epilogue. Some of my favorite HP authors are Aurette, who is brilliant with angst but always manages to (almost) always give us a happy ending (and some fabulous lemons, too!), Theolyn, and Loten, all of whom write beautifully and update regularly (two requirements for being a valuable fic writer). And I find I'm writing a novel in my profile instead of writing my fics so I'm going to stop talking now. It'd be cool if someone read this because they were so moved by my writing they had to learn more about the author. Ah, we can dream, can't we? |
