THE LATEST NEWS
June 13th, 2015
Have you read his most recent book with David Wayne? It's awesome! It's some possibilities of what may have happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight #370. The title is, "Someone is Hiding Something: What Happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370?" and if you hit up You Tube you'll see Belz was on both Alex Jones' "Infowars" show and "Coast to Coast AM" with George Noory. George is one of the co-authors of the book. Here's the link to Richard's Amazon page, where you can buy any number of his books:
Have you ever wondered about Belz having a fan club? The cool news is, there is now an UNOFFICIAL Richard Belzer Fan Club on Facebook! Thanks to Kathy Shutt, another dedicated fan of "The Belz," you can be a part of this invitation-only club and it's FREE. Kathy has found all kinds of info that even I didn't know existed, and believe me when I tell you I've found some pretty cool things that were off the beaten path. If you'd like to join, send me an e-mail: Glock35Gal (at sign) Gmail (dot com). Kathy and I are co-admins, by the way; it was very kind of her to include me every step of the way, especially since I'm usually too busy to be of much help to her. :)
DON'T WORRY --
I *will* be back to writing fanfic, especially "The Undead Down Below" with Luckie D. She's such an awesome co-author! I have to have surgery, so it may not be until I'm recovering from that, but I have managed to come up with a little more fic lately which is encouraging. THANK YOU for hanging in there with me, because some very cool fic is on the way.
Almost done writing the new series with Belz and David Wayne! It's a HUGE job to create a series and write the show's "Bible," as well as all the peripheral things involved in getting an idea ready to pitch to the Big Leagues. I have been ultra-busy with all of that, as well as with all the cool daily things that come up in the course of being Richard's "Jill of All Trades" personally and for McBelz Enterprises. It's a VERY fun job and I *love* it! He is fantastic, which is actually a huge understatement.
I just finished pitching a *second* show idea to David and he really likes it. Once the first series is out for consideration by potential producers, I'll write it all up and share it with Belz to see what he thinks about it. He gets to have the final word, but he's been very cool about what I've pitched to him thus far. I could not have a better "uncle" or person to work with and for, let me tell you!
While I have absolutely no idea what will happen, I entered both the NBC Writers' on the Verge competition and the Warner Bros. Writers' Program. Each competition gets 2000-plus entries every year, which they each whittle down to a mere 10. Yes, only 10 people make it -- the stakes are extremely high. You have to submit a script, background info, and answers to some rather unique questions. If I get a call in September from either studio, that means I've made it to the Interview Phase. NBC's program helps more with semi-established writers and teaches them how to effectively pitch to studio executives. Warner Bros' program takes you through a series of lectures, then you have to pass the "Writers Room" Phase -- in which you're working in small groups just as if you're working for a showrunner. IF you pass that phase, they will TRY to match you with a showrunner and voila, you're STAFFED on that SHOW and will make MONEY. Belz was EXTREMELY encouraging and convinced me to "go for it" and apply to both programs, so we shall see.
I know he'd be totally honest with me and tell me if he thought my screenwriting sucked. LOL! He also encouraged me to use the SVU spec script I'd originally written as a birthday gift to him. I dusted it off, revised it, and hopefully it will get some stellar attention in both competitions. PLEASE wish me luck!
How did all of this cool writing progress happen? Because of the SVU spec script. This is an example of FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS, because you NEVER KNOW when things will happen to make your dreams come true. My sister jokes -- with her nervous laughter -- that she hangs on for dear life, because she NEVER knows what will happen each day in "my weird, wonderful life." It can happen for you as well. Really.
Now get out there and WRITE! :)
If you're still interested in reading my fanfic, please let me know. It's always good to hear what you like most, and what should be updated first. Along with everything else, I'm still poking steadily at my crime novel with Sarah Zelman as the lead character. As time permits, I have been doing some short fanfic, and will try to post it here. I also have a much longer John & Sarah fic going right now, and will probably post that in chapters. It's much different than things I've written in the past and I hope you'll let me know what you think, once I have time to post it here.
Enjoy a safe, FUN, joyous summer! Don't forget the sunscreen and stay hydrated.
For Those Who Don't Know Me
I'm a long-time fanfic writer and publisher, who's now into "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" because the character of John Munch is too much fun to write! Check out my fav authors, who have been at this a lot longer than I have. (They're much better at this, too!) Read my work, but don't take it too seriously because I'm in it for fun.
E-mail I get frequently asks, "Why in the heck doesn't your fic get more reviews?!" The answer is: Because it's not like the 'usual' SVU fic you see almost constantly, thus it doesn't draw fans who leave a plethora of reviews. I'm fine with that, since reviews are a treat not a meal. I'm content to do what I do, leave it for my readership, and move on to the next project.
When I'm not writing, I relax by shooting a Glock 35 at the local firing range. (I over-qualified for LAPD, and almost qualified for Burbank PD! I found out I *do* shoot well enough for the FBI! LOL! (Targets. Love to shred 'em -- my groupings are TIGHT!) I listen to a wide variety of music and podcasts on my iPod, from Coolio's rap to soft rock and country. I maintain a Facebook page (Cardinal Robbins), a Twitter account (@Glock35Gal) and you can always send me a message here on FF.Net.
Thank you in advance for reading and reviewing my fics. I always appreciate it!
