"In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so."
-Anton Ego (Ratatouille)
“To be perfectly original one should think much and read little, and this is impossible, for one must have read before one has learnt to think.”
Let me just say that I consider fanfiction to be a fun hobby. That's it. I enjoy and appreciate the magnificent literary works that some authors have been able to write under the label of fanfiction, but my aspirations are not nearly so high. I'm just a college student that enjoys reading and writing fanfics when I want to have a bit of fun. Fanfiction isn't something I stress about or take seriously, it's a way to blow off some steam - my literary playground, if you will. A way for me to be creative without the pressure of trying to make things perfect.
I like to think I'm a decent writer, but anything I post on this site will be rough. That is an undeniable, irrefutable fact. I do not outline my stories. I do not mull over ideas for months on end. I do not excessively edit nor do I ask anyone to proofread. My successes and failures both are entirely my own.
