Author has written 2 stories for Avatar: Last Airbender.
January 2014: Been a while since I've been on this site - I write on FictionPress now. The first book of United is posted in its current entirety, and a lot of other pieces besides. If you are interested in my original, non-fanfiction writing, here's a link to my profile over there:
Update June 2013: Masters Degree achieved. Since the fall of 2010, I have been writing non-fanfic, and have the first in a series of novels in an original world completed and ready for beta reading. Since this is not the forum for original work, I will open an account in fiction press to publish parts of my first novel, United. I will post the link when that is done. NOTE - the first posting is called Life Work, and gives a quick look at the beginnings of the world of United. It was written originally as a stand alone short story, but now I see it as the (rather long) prologue to the first book.
United describes a world in which certain men and women of the Earth have been Gleaned across more than a thousand year time period for their telepathic ability, in order that a species of altruistic aliens may learn how to best interact with and benefit Humanity. When the time was right, our benefactors presented Humanity with a set of new, colonizable worlds in which we could spread out, expand, and grow, connected by their system of telepathic communication and transportation. The original Gleaned, altered on a cellular level so that their life expectancies would more nearly match their partners, have worked behind the scenes to guide and guard Humanity - often from problems we have created ourselves. This is the story of one of those times.
Update April 2010: I've gone back to school, working on my Masters in Elementary Ed Counseling. Still have the husband and two kids, have two cats but there was a lose one gain one thing, and the goldfish are history (so long, Bob and Delfinia Fishbock!)
I put down and walked away from writing a few years back right in the middle of a story - my apologies, that was uncool of me, but I had gone from working part time to full time and something had to go. Grad school doesn't exactly leave me a lot of free time, but I'm writing constantly now - even if that writing is lit reviews and research papers, it is stimulating to all the right parts of my brain. I'll be back - and I can't wait.
Original 2006 profile:
I'm an RN, a former college instructor now doing staff development in home health, I have a husband, two children, two goldfish, two cats, a BA in Theatre, red hair and freckles and I'm too old to be doing this (yep, over 40).
I'm totally new to writing for this genre, and appreciate any and all feed-back.
Thanks. That's the nutshell.
ps - our youngest child is adopted from China. I would be delighted to correspond with anyone who has adopted, is adopted, or is contemplating adoption!
