Author has written 6 stories for Gilmore Girls. Hey There Everybody!! So I'm a stay at home mom of two teenagers, a tween and a three-year old. The kids keep me running 7 days a week with activities ranging from football to dance, volleyball, theatre, soccer and more! I also work from home: writing, blogging, selling Avon, and doing advertising, marketing and some bookkeeping for my parent's businesses as well. I'm incredibly busy all the time. However, that is more or less how I like it. :-) Lately I've been trying different ways of organizing my days in order to help me find more time to write. In doing so I've been able to carve some time out to devote to my fan fiction stories and ideas. As of October 2020 my Gilmore Girls project statuses are: Ever Changing Life I sat on the idea of this story for several years, letting ideas stew and percolate, before I ever started writing. In many ways, A Year In The Life gave us the 'more' that we all wanted for the girls. In other ways, AYITL simply left us with as many questions as it gave answers, and with a wide-open doorway of possibilities for a new story, a new life for Rory. AYITL wrapped up and Lorelai was finally settled down with Luke. Emily had gone through major upheaval with the loss of Richard, but was embracing the change and finding a new path for herself. And Rory? Those infamous "final four words," well, they have a way of clearing away all the cobwebs in your life, of focusing your priorities, of giving direction, and of changing everything. The main storyline in Ever Changing Life is wrapped up - the final chapter has now been published! I will be doing a series of one-shot stories that will fill in some of the gaps that the main ECL story leaves out, deleted scenes, or bits that occur before or after the main timeline. I also started working on a Christmas theme story in December 2019 with the hope of posting it around the holiday. That didn't happen but I've continued to plot and click away at it when inspiration strikes and this story (currently titled Ever Changing Christmas) is going to be the focus of my NaNoWriMo 2020 project. It is my intention to post this story in December 2020 for the holidays. Best Is Yet To Come When I began Best shortly after 'The Party's Over' (S5.E08) aired and through writing the early chapters of the story, I really had no clear idea of how the story would end. The foundation of the story was crystal clear to me: I wanted to use a tragic/life changing event to not only alter the course of Rory's life, but as a vehicle to eliminate the divide between the two "worlds" the Gilmore Girls lives always seemed to straddle - their Stars Hollow existence, and the elite world of the elder Gilmore's Hartford life. I really wanted to write a story that enabled Rory to embrace the best of both her worlds, without damaging her relationship with Lorelai, or fundamentally changing aspects of herself. I've always been really happy with the storyline I managed to create in Best and honestly, even once the original storyline is completed, the "world" I came up with for Rory and the whole crew is one I will likely come back to visit in one shots or small companion pieces. Right now, Best Is Yet To Come is finished! I have some ideas about those companion pieces and one-shots, but I'm currently ensnared with my Ever Changing Lifestoryline and world right now and I'm staying focused on that until I run out of things to write. Sequels & Companion Stories After the final chapter of An Ending or a New Beginning was published I got a lot of questions about Tristan - his relationship to Logan and Rory and how he became a part of their life in California. At the time I hit publish on that last chapter I had a semi-formed idea for a one shot about his reappearance in the GG world. Since then I've added bits, pieces, and random ideas as they came to me, and now this companion piece to AEoaNB will be roughly 4-6 chapters long. As for a sequel to An Ending or a New Beginning I've got a couple ideas that are percolating... but it'll still be a while before I turn my attention to that project. Since shortly before the revival was released on Netflix, there's been a resurgence of hits on all my stories, as well as quite a few new followers/fans reading them. I've also been getting a lot of new comments and PM's. Surprising (to me at least) is the interest that has been given to my oldest story - Road To Heaven - and the number of pleas I've received for some kind of sequel to this story. I am seriously thinking about it and I did leave Rory and Logan at a point where the story could easily be picked up a year later, five, or even ten years later and carried forward. However any sequel for Road to Heaven would have to do hommage to the original, and there would have to be a really good story there for me to justify going back to that world. I'm not saying that a Heaven sequel is out of the question, I'm just saying that in all years since I completed the original, I've never come up with an idea that begged me to write it. New Stories I have another post-revival story in the works - mostly just in flashes of scenes or jotted down ideas - which will either be a one-shot, or a series of one-shot chapters in which Rory is announcing her pregnancy to the most important people in her life. It's not what I'd call particularly unique but I've been having some fun with it! As always I want thank all my readers: the new and the devoted, and all followers of all my stories. I thank you for all the support you've given me over the years and for all the comments and critiques you've given me. A writer's creativity and her passion for writing, is often times strengthened by the 'love' of her readers. So I truly thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Keep reading and keep enjoying, and if you've ever got ideas, comments or concerns about a story feel free to send me a note - I'll try my hardest to get back to you, as quickly as I can. My inbox here is always open to anyone who needs to chat, to vent, or whatever. I may not always be able to get back to folks immediately but I will get back to you. More immediate conversation can be had on Twitter or Facebook though, so feel free to connect with me on anyone of those platforms. Yours, Apalusa-light aka Lacey aka LD Ferris |
