IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! After sixteen years on this site, I'm sorry to announce that I will be leaving FFnet. This decision doesn't come easily or lightly, and has been something I've been considering for about a year. The fact is that, while the majority of the interactions that I've had with readers and reviewers have been overwhelmingly positive, as the years have gone on, I've received more and more negative, harassing or just plain unpleasant messages. From language police to self-important bullies masquerading as content vigilantes, I've gotten more irritating messages from this site than any other. Unfortunately, because of how FFnet is set up, when I receive such harassment, there's not really any recourse I can take, either by blocking the users giving me trouble or reporting them to admins. I have a reasonably thick skin and can handle such interactions as just part of what one can expect when doing anything on the internet. I've been here for sixteen years and on the internet in general for much longer. I know what to expect and have plenty of practice at it. That being said, I write fanfic for pleasure, as an outlet and to enjoy the company of other fans and share ideas with them. Writing fic at all is an obligation that no one holds me to but myself, and if I feel uncomfortable or frustrated with any aspect of it, there is nothing holding me to what is creating that frustration. FFnet has gone through many, many changes over the last decade and a half, and I've ridden through them all. I've been here for more than half my life, for longer than a good number of my readers have even been alive, and had expected to remain here until the day came when, for whatever reason, I left the internet or fanfic writing entirely. Unfortunately, that's not how things have turned out. WHAT'S GOING TO BE HAPPENING TO THIS ACCOUNT. My two continuing stories, Haunted and The Ironmonger's Heart will continue to update until they are completed. I plan to finish Haunted and then move on to Ironmonger, and hopefully they will both be finished before too long. Beyond those two exceptions, no new works will be appearing on this account. This includes any new installments into my two series, Loki's Brood and Pins & Needles. This does not mean I am disappearing from the internet entirely. For anyone wishing to continue to follow my works, read new works and see what I'm up to, I'll still be active on Archive of Our Own under the name Ehtar. Please go there if you want to see any of my new works. This account, while becoming inactive, will not be disappearing. It will remain up as an archive for anyone who wants to come back and read here rather than migrating over to a new site, and I'll be checking once in a while to make sure everything still works. I will also still be receiving alerts for reviews and messages from this site, and will continue to respond to them as I always have. The only change is that I won't be adding to what is already here. To all my readers, especially to any who have managed to ride through the years as I have, thank you all so much. Thank you for taking the time to read what I have written, for any kind words you've given to me, for any times you've shared something you've enjoyed with friends. I appreciate every one of you, and I truly regret that my issues with this site have led me to this point. Thank you all, and I wish you all luck and love in the future. Bulletin Board: CONTINUING STORIES: Haunted. (Yu-Gi-Oh!) A long Ryou / Bakura background fic. The line separating light and dark isn't always so definite. Ryou, an apparently ordinary boy, is chosen by an ancient Egyptian artifact to harbor a soul stained and twisted my memories and unknowable powers. Chapters 9 - 16 written and being prepared for posting! The Ironmonger’s Heart. (Avengers/Norse AU) Frostiron. An Iron Man / Thor / Norse mythology crossover and AU. If Tony were a blacksmith in Old Norse mythology world, with some details for Marvel-Loki thrown in. Shot by one of his own weapons, Tony prays to be saved, and the first god to reply is none other than the Trickster. He agrees to save the Smith, but requires his heart in return. Writing for this story will continue in earnest once Haunted is finished. DISCONTINUED STORIES: Brothers contamiNated. (Death Note) A different take on the events of Another Note. Completely different, in fact. Beyond doesn't run away from Wammy's, but instead stays, and tries to exact his revenge on L through the medium of Near. This story has taken too long of a hiatus and the feel of what I was going for has been lost. My apologies to anyone who was awaiting chapters. :( Playtime. Originally meant as a one-shot, this one will be continued. Blame my sister, Kame-chan, for once again tricking me into continuing. Also originally meant as a humor/friendship fic, we may (probably) will become a romance, Matt x Near style. A possibility exists that the final chapter will be written someday, but there's too much else going on for me to justify prioritizing this one. :( Jihi No Tenshi. (Death Note) When Misa finds a bloodied man who bears a strange resemblance to L, she's ends up questioning at lot of what she used to believe, with bloody results. This story was a request and only meant to be one short chapter long. It has stretched well beyond that, and while I did have two more chapters planned, equaling a total of five, no amount of effort on my part has gotten me back into the proper mindset for continuing. My apologies. Hunter and Huntress. (Supernatural) Destiel. Inspired by a series of gif sets on tumblr. The barriers between realities have become unstable and Sam and Dean wake up to find female versions of themselves in bed with them. Things get more complicated when Cass and his swap, Cassie, show up and it’s eventually revealed that she and Deanna (Dee) are a little more than friends. My love and respect for Supernatural in general has waned a lot since beginning this fic, and I find trying to write for this more of a chore than anything else. COMPLETED STORIES: Death Note: Truth. Was not intended to tie in with any other fic, but it could with almost any of them. Taken directly from episode 25 of dubbed anime, if another fic fits with the canon, it should fit with this. In the Library. Ties in some with At Your Grave for Mello past references. Ties in even more with Ghostly for the same reason. Ties in with What's My Name? At Your Grave. Ties in some with ItL (see above) and Ghostly for Mello-past references and the build-up of the Mello/Matt/Near friendship relationship. Has a pretty strong tie in to What's My Name? Ghostly. See above for most tie ins, (did we notice the robot, re: In the Library?). Subtle tie in to What's My Name? Last Words. This is an alternate take on post-canon from AYG, so all of those tie-ins also apply here. Loyalty. Some very loose tie-ins to Playtime as it was meant to be the last chapter when originally conceived. Nothing direct, but definitely some similarities. What's My Name? Well, there will be quite a few tie-ins for this one, and they won't all make a great amount of sense. Morality Could or could not be taken as a 'lost chapter' for What's My Name? Brothers contamiNated: There are no direct tie-ins for this fic, but the background used for A and B is pretty much the same as what is seen in What's My Name?, though not to the same conclusion. There are also shades of Ghostly seen in the origins of Near, Matt and Mello. Sly Cooper: Criminal Confidante. Ties in with Thief for a Day, should be fairly obvious if you've read them both. Thief for a Day. See above. SERIES: Loki's Brood: After the trial in Asgard for his various crimes, Loki Laufeyson walks away estranged from his people and burdened with tasks to amend his past wrongs. In so doing he also walks away with his three children - Fenrir, Hela and Jörmungandr - taking them out of the hands of the Æsir. He entrusts them to Tony Stark, much to everyone's surprise, and what could have been a disaster turns out to work out remarkably well for everyone involved. At least most of the time. The various adventures of Tony, Loki and his children (and the rest of the Avengers) as they learn to get along, trust each other and forge a family stronger than even blood could create. Part I: Caregiver Herein you will find the sometimes lighthearted, sometimes serious, sometimes funny and sometimes heartbreaking adventures of Tony, Loki and his many children, most notably Fenrir, Hela and Jörmungandr, and of course the extended family of the Avengers team. Sometimes the stories will transition smoothly from one to the next, sometimes there will be huge jumps. Sometimes they will be incredibly long, other times very short. I plan to write scenes that are widespread across the timeline, from the time the children are truly children all the way until they are fully grown. Occasionally I may put in parts that are sandwiched between stories that are already complete and posted, rearranging the continuity - but hopefully never breaking it. Basically writing these out as a series instead of a very long, multi-chaptered fic is so I can write those parts that interest me without having to spend months fleshing every little piece out. You'll find places where I'm hinting at things we don't see directly, and may not mention again for some time. Most likely I will get back to it, though perhaps not. This, as well as offering me a measure of convenience, is to give the whole thing a greater sense of realism. After all, you never really know everything that's going on in real life, right? ;) (No worries though, major and plot necessary details I will come back and cover. If anyone has any really anxiety over something, check out all the installments and if it's not covered yet, leave me comment to remind me about it. :3) ANNOUNCEMENTS AND UPDATES: Stories & Related: In the Library has been translated into French! The lovely peneloo is the wonderful lady who did the translation, which was super brave of her. If French is your language of choice, check it out here. Major props, and an infinite supply of the sweet treat of her choice goes out to her. Check her out, she's done a few other fic translations. Thank you so much, peneloo!! In the Library has received even more attention, this time from the wonderfully artistic Breena Beeks Marie. She's taking on the project of converting chapter one of ItL into a doujinshi! Pretty darn awesome, in my opinion! Keep an eye out for it, she's a talented artist. Semi-Serious Stuff: If there is anyone out there who wants to use my work as a base for their own art, or borrow it for whatever reason, I would like you to e-mail or PM me for permission, first. The two ladies who have done art or translations of In the Library have both done so, and permission was given without a moment's hesitation. In most cases that I can think of, I won't have any issues with any requests, but I still prefer that you ask. If it hadn't been for peneloo and Breena Marie, I wouldn't have thought this announcement would need to be made, simply because I never would have thought anyone would want to borrow my work, but since it's happened twice now, I have to consider it at least a possibility. :D REVIEWERS! First, if you are so kind as to leave me a review, THANK YOU! I appreciate the time taken to write and tell me what you thought, and love hearing from anyone who actually took the time to read through my scribblings! :D Second, I try to reply to every review I receive. That's right. Every. Single. One. Sometimes it takes me some time to reply, I've been known to take a few months before getting enough time to sit and do so, but I do get around to it. However, I'm only able to do so for those review/ers who are signed in when they review. If you are expecting a reply, and especially if you leave a question in your review, PLEASE BE SIGNED IN TO REVIEW. Once there was a time when I could hunt reviewers down by their names if they left one, even if they weren't signed in. Alas, I no longer have that luxury, and if a review is left by an Anon, I will read, enjoy, and file away without replying. So, all reviews are welcome! But if you want / expect / need a reply, please remember to sign in so I can do so. Thank you! So, with all that said, thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy the products of my twisted little mind! |
